lol @ Mest winning

But FWIW Mariano's xFIP doesn't mean a whole lot because he barely ever gives up HRs... and his FIP always undervalues him because his cutter suppresses BABIP. The only real red flag I see for him this year is that his ground ball rate is way down, but that might normalize by the end of the season.

He is red hot but almost cost the game for them at the time...Gardner saved him
Pena was in, Mr. batting .100 would rather have a pitcher bat.
Nunez had a tweak never heard of that before. Fuck Jeter is a gold golver because he looks like a defense god compared to his backups I see now.

Yeah i had to check the box score again and I corrected myself..My bad

Jeter may not have great lateral range anymore, but if that ball is hit to him you're fucking OUT no matter what.

Also, he doesn't bat .100.

Also, fucking goddammit Pena.

Well, the Mets still lost the series, so whatever. The next relevant Yankees game for me is on Wednesday - the return of PHIL PHRANCHISE.

God damn Brandon League's splitter is insane. After a 98 mph fastball. Good luck.

And he shuts the door with 2 Death Splitters to K the final 2 batters.

For the season he's under 7 K/9, so I'd say batters are having decent success at making contact.

Good thing you watch all dem Mariner games and realize he doesn't throw it that often for some reason and relies too much on his heat.

Seeing how I was talking about one of his pitches and not his ability to K people.

Lemme help you out.

His splitter is as I said, nasty.

Also ... he gets the worst fucking strike zone ever usually.

Oddly enough, I read that Jeter was putting on a clinic in defense down in AA

I'm hoping this unexpected (non)competition for his job sparks a fire under him. It must get to him at least a little that the Yankees are playing their best ball without him

He needs to realize when good enough isn't good enough

Yeah, it does look like that. Not that his fastball is a bad pitch by any means.

Edit: Wow, so much salt even in a win. Relax, dude, I'm not insulting League.

Sorry. Didn't understand why you brought up his K/9 when I was just speaking to one of his pitches.

Usually, if a pitcher has a pitch that looks really good every time you see it but doesn't throw it much, you assume it's because the pitch is only effective when the hitter isn't expecting it... but League's history suggests otherwise. It's really weird that he goes that route.

i blame myself, i watched this game on sny.

Edit: hahahaha

How can you even listen to that broadcast with one of the greats of the game doing the game on YES?

Put it on the right side you cunt!

Damn, I missed Jeter's error. Was it a tough play or did he Nunez/Pena the ball?

Trenton is getting crushed. 3 runs on Jeter, lol. Still want him back in pinstripes.

it's hard to tell with the shitty angles, but he threw low, and the runner was speedy as hell. Hard to blame him for it as he was rushing.

Banuelos was getting BABIPed to death, finished 4 2/3 2BB 6H 7Ks..not bad.

Just for fun, I checked to see where tonight's shit start by Marquis (Game Score of 12) fit into the pantheon of his worst starts, and holy shit he had a start in '06 where he gave up fucking 14 runs in five innings for a Game Score of -11. La Russa is a madman.

Only 1 ER too

and thanks for the recap on Jeter's play. The camera angles really are bad. I don't mind so much the whole moving the camera while the shot is live to frame the batter properly, but they don't even track the ball half the time. I don't think this producer or camera man will be promoted to AAA anytime soon.

Thank fucking god the Mets didn't get swept. .500 mothafuckas!

Great comeback, taking advantage of errors is what separates good teams from losers.

I concur. They gotta stop wearing those.
The Angels are wearing some sort of throwback every Friday home game to celebrate their 50th anniversary. I think they wore those 1961 unis a total of five times this year, they are 4-1 with those so they will be back. Fun fact: the Angels got rid of the Halo on top not because it looked horrible but to save money.

Just came back from Penn's Landing. Mets win and are back at .500, Phils/Braves/Natinals lose, Reyes jumping up and down in clubhouse, Bay gets signature hit, and I bought a jumbo bag of Skittles.

Today was A Good Day...

This morning in Manhattan, Jose Reyes underwent an MRI at the Hospital for Special Surgery, and the results showed he has a grade one strain to his left hamstring, which is considered a mild strain.

However, after today’s 3-2 win, Terry Collins told reporters it was possible Reyes will not play until after the All-Star Game.

That said, Sandy Alderson told reporters said they will see how he responds tomorrow and over the next few days.

Reyes spoke with reporters and said he doesn’t feel anything in his leg right now, but he will take this day-by-day and make sure his leg can withstand a full game and hopes to play on Tuesday in Los Angeles.
Surgery Thursday.
