Is the thread title long enough?

Anyway, for the third year going I believe, we're gonna have an Oscar Pool. It's not really about the nominations... if you like them or not, whatever. It's just about getting the right answers and competing with fellow GAFers and hopefully winning a prize :D

And since this thread isn't HUGE yet, I'll turn this into the official one.

DETAILS ON THE OSCAR POOL
________________________________________________________________

To sign up, visit Oscar.com 79th' Annual Academy Awards "Predict the Winners" page. If you already have an ABC.com account from previous years playing this, it will still work.

If you live in Canada you can't claim prizes. But, since this is just for fun, just make up some shit about where you live and join anyway for the competition.

After you sign up, join the following GROUP:

Group name: TTB and GAFots
Password:
dustynails

After you join, POST IN THIS THREAD with the name you used on the Oscar Pool site so I can add you to the list :)

PREDICTIONS ARE NOW CLOSED. Unfortunately, oscar.com slyly changed the rules this year to close all predictions at 1:00PM(PST). This changes things dramatically, so since I did not read the rules as closely as I perhaps should, I apologize to everyone who thought they would have more time.

Are you implying that you have good taste in films? :P

In as Bebpo

Hell no, I always guess based on how I think the stupid Academy Board will vote :P
Yeah, thats not really movie appreciation skill. It just means you watch a lot of E! Or can filter out what the hell the E! rumors mean.

Man what, I can easily tell you what my personal favorites are and it's totally separate from what I am going to guess because the Academy is dumb :D

All right I'll get in on this later. I remember last year, starting off great with the first awards and then plummeting down to some low position. I'll spend some more time on it this year.

Same for me. I would liken Oscar picks to trying to predict the winner of:

Ehh, I'm not 18 yet, but can I still participate? I might as well lie about my age cause chances are I won't win.

EDIT: The hell with it, in as BrandNew.

yeah, definitely. It's just for fun, mainly for bragging rights at GAF since none of us will win a prize in all likelihood :D

Battersea Power Station said:
Ami, do you guess on the lesser categories or have you actually seen all those short films?

Well, it's impossible for me to see all of them. Usually, for the really obscure categories, I just watch the television for the people making predictions and choose the first one I hear :lol

I'm in. I realyl should have seen some of these movies. :X Should I predict the Scorcese upset? I JUST DON'T KNOW.

Jesus, the best picture is a toughy. Word on the street says The Departed should win, but it' scorcese. I'm just gonna have to go with Eastwood on this one, you can't really go wrong there. Children of Men better win all of it's nominations (seriously though, Little Miss Sunshine...better than Children of Men? Get the **** Out of Here, Academy). What's up with all of these Dead Man's Chest nominations, I though critics hated this movie (I've grown to love it). The Presitge got noms too!...for a categories it won't win (Going against Pan's Labrynth for Art Direction and Children of Men for Cinematography. :[ ) It should be an interesting show, better than last year.

All of the Pirates nominations are on technical categories...

And it'll win Effects. Easily.

For some reason I'm wary of using the same film in more than one category but of course I shouldn't be. This is going to get interesting..
