No predictions here, but I just hope Letters From Iwo wins best picture.

I've hated everything about the Oscars since Bill Murray got robbed.

Sean frickin Penn. It'd have been so awesome if Depp or especially Bill Murray got that oscar. Without a doubt, both of those guys performances resonate more now than Penn's does. Just shows you not to pick by who deserves anything.

Since this thread isn't long at all, I've stuck the nominations and an area for the winners of the oscars themselves on the original post for organization sake.

In terms of the pool, updates as regularly as I can get them for when the show starts. Predictions can be made up until the minute before the show starts, and today IS the last day. And there is still plenty of space in GROUP 2, so join up if you didn't see this before.

I tried last year and just bomba'd badly. Triumph did pretty well I remembered...he picked Trash over BBM, which most people didn't do. So I'm just gonna watch this year without having to worry about pics.

I don't even know any of the films this year really.

I have been pricing the oscars for the company i work for.

I have been taking money on Sunshine as best picture today, But its all good I think that film will not win :D

go to www.expekt.com to check out my prices on oscars and place bets guys ;)

I hope dicaprio wins and hounsu!!!
also scorsese and pans!!!

Only one day left to make your predictions and sign up. Remember, still one spot left in the original group and plenty left in the second. It's all for fun - whether you care for the oscars or not, it's just for some good sport.

Countdown begins. you're all goin' down! :D

We shall meet on the hastings once more only this time you will succumb to defeat.

Lol by the time I joined the group the predictions couldn't be edited. At least I got 10th place locked up. :P

What? You can still edit your predictions!

RULES said:
You can come back to make changes to your predictions at any time before 5:00 PM PT/8PM ET on Sunday, February 25, 2007. Once you are finished, click the "Make Your Predictions" button to enter your selections.

According to the site everything is now locked and can not be edited.

Wow, what the heck. This has got to be a temporary thing, they've never locked it this early before. Maybe it's an error...hopefully. Even the rules state differently.

Yea, that is a shitty deal, I want to change my prediction for best directing from United 93.

WWhat the game has been locked? Oh well I've lost. I only filled out like half the categories! thought we had at least a few more hours.

You do. According to the rules and every year previous, you have up until the minute the show starts to change predictions. It even says it right freakin' here. This has got to be an error with the people running the pool.

It isn't supposed to be locked till 5:00 PM EST.

I'm going to e-mail them real quick, see if there's ANY headway possible to be made but... wow. I apologize to anyone who has not finalized their predictions.

Well, it isn't your fault, just remember that if you achieve victory, it is tainted one.

Well I know, but a lot of people enjoy making their predictions last minute to see how the commentators spin the odds. This really screws things up - who knows how many GAFers had that plan.

It really sucks

No shit but it looks like there is nothing to be done.

Anyway, is the other side even aware it is Oscar night?

oh, big problem. I see the problem. They forgot to change the words in the "how to play" segment, but in the SWEEPSTAKES ENTRY part of the official rules they say this:

All online entries/changes must be received by 1:00pm PT 2/25/07. The last (online) entry received before the Sweepstakes ends (1:00pm PT 2/25/07) will be considered your only entry. ABC's computer will be considered the official clock of the Sweepstakes

This is the first year they made this rule, so this is the problem. That's freakin' weak.

:lol

Seriously, that sucks though. If the morons put it in "how to play" we'd of had it in big bold caps on page 1. Bastards.

Well, heck, even I usually wait long... thank goodness this year I locked in my predictions a tad earlier than usual

Yea, I am kinda glad I did the placeholder thing, it just means I have a few unsavory choices to contend with.

Yeah, it's always the minor categories that get me but this year I have a feeling a lot of things are gonna be surprising

Perhaps, I got a few upsets and dark horses picked (Borat and Pan's Labyrinth) as well as a few The Academy Is Made Up of a Bunch of God Damned Morons picks(Letters, United 93).

Amir0x said:
I don't think Pan is a dark horse in Foreign Language, but Borat...yeah just might be

Oh no, certainly not in Foreign Language, I am referring to the Original Screenplay slot.

Up here in Norway it's time for bed.. got a boat to take early in the morning, so I can't sit around for the winners this time. Good luck to everyone and I'll be sure to pick up my prize first thing in the morning.

Good deal. I urge anybody who'd like to change or finish your picks to do this. We won't be able to add on the spot to the updates but we can keep count at different points later on. At least keep the GAF competition legit.
