I see atleast 2 movies a week at cinema and rent atleast 8 films a week!

I am a film geek and have always been, I have seen most of the films.

So you honestly don't think CoM shouldn't have won best cinema?

If so then I would say you don't know a ****ing thing about film.

Das Leben der Anderen is pretty excellent so can't say I'm surprised Pan's Labyrinth didn't win, though I probably prefer the latter. Glad, if a bit unfairly, Children of Men didn't win anything after the ridiculous overhype online. It was well done, had a great premise and a few fantastic scenes but overall it didn't quite live up to its potential.

So you admit CoM should have won but glad that it didn't just in spite of the fact that people online really enjoyed the film?

well there where A FEW scenes in that film that was good looking, but I honestly cant say that it was enough for a win!

Pan's Labyrinth is a worthy winner, watch it first as I get the feeling you have not seen it!

It should have been nominated for the best picture (well, rather it than some of the others that were) and perhaps won the Cinematography category. Yes, I'm petty.

Pan's Labyrinth may have been perfected. It had perfect lighting and had excellent composition... but Children of Men was more than just a few ****ing good shots. It was raw, it was fresh, and it was ****ing original.

Children of Men cinematography provided an experience that I personally have never experienced in a movie theatre. And I am also a huge film geek.

I mean I just remember sitting in that theatre thinking "is this real?" It was like seeing a pig ****ing fly. It was beyond anything I thought was possible. And thats why this film deserves some ****ing honors.

I honestly think the best part of the show was when Seinfeld was on. He is just hilarious.

QFT...

Did you see Larry David's interview on E! after the show? It was also freaking hilarious.

Both of them should get together and do something again.

I'm still so happy for Jennifer Hudson. She was absolutely amazing in Dream Girls, and there isn't a substance on this earth I wouldn't eat out of her ass.

Jennifer Hudson>* and if she had been snubbed there would be a live manhut on CNN as we speak that was looking for me.

Producer didn't give props to Andrew Lau when The Departed won... and what best picture doesn't have the cast/director/etc all up on stage? Lame.

I noticed that.

Still havn't seen the The Departed, but Infernal Affairs was AMAZING. While I'm sure The Departed is just as good, the Hong Kong cast and crew of Infernal Affairs didn't get enough props during the night. I mean come one, the best pic is a remake of a film that just came out 4 years ago in Hong Kong, and hardly no-one acknolwedges the original?

Andy and Tony should've crashed the ****in Oscars.

Apologies for conkin' out there, my computer was giving me issues.

Wow, I did a hell of a lot better than I thought I would.

P.S. Ami is really ****ing good at this.

can someone give me a rough breakdown of when the 'big' awards are done? I've recorded about 5 hours of it last night and would like to jump over the minor awards as I can read up on them anyway.

you are very right, it had glorious cinematography and the style was amazing. But IMO it was lacking in story, so perhaps that meant it got looked over in general. Or perhaps it just wasn't classic enough to win? Too raw?

As a German I'm quite happy about our victory in the category "best foreign movie". We didn't really expect that. But i thinks it's quite sad that Scrocese didn't mentioned infernal affairs as the original idea behind the concept. it would have deserve it!

I actually got 10 right as the thing on the website closed early remember! My guesses were here

Well done to the winners though. Was fun doing this!

Marty deserved an Oscar for Best Director for Raging Bull, IMO that is his best movie he ever made.

as for the Departed, it may not be one of his better movies, but as far as 2006 is concerned, it is the best movie of 2006.

I'm happy he finally one, getting Best Picture is also a great extra bonus

Another poor showing for me, although slightly better than last year. I nailed the big ones, but failed at the "minor" awards... contrary to earlier years.

wait, who was the italian guy?

Ennio Morricone, the greatest film composer ever. Best part of the show, too.

Glad to see Marty win, even if it was a Mulligan. Best Picture took me by surprise.

Yes, those of you that haven't seen "The Lives of Others" should go check it out. I went last week with some friends and we were all very impressed by it. Great film.

I would like more impressions on The Lives of Others -- when is it playing in the theaters, at the moment?
It's a cold war drama/thriller about a member of the Stasi (German secret police) monitoring a couple in East Germany. Well acted, great directing, and the script was very well done. I'd highly recommend it.

It opened in limited release a week and a half ago, but it should be getting more theaters after winning the Oscar last night.

Link to reviews.

The ****ing DANISH POET won? WHAT THE **** is wrong with the academy.

"Hey this ballot is really long and I'm tired. I am supposed to meet my agent at Barney's Beanery for brunch in twenty minutes and it's a mob scene at this time on Saturday. WTF is all this animated short stuff? I haven't even heard of this shit. Which one of these looks the artiest? **** yeah, Danish Poet? That must be worthy as shit. Bam. Danish Poet. Now, how can I give props to Little Miss Sunshine without giving it anything good..."

That's probably what happened. Really.

I don't mind that Happy Feet stole Pixar thunder this year, but man did they deserved the award for best short.

I suppose you're the type to tell your two year old son that there is no Santa.

does anyone have a link to a place where they have clips from the show?
I want to see all the winners talk again.

I also want to check out that awsome marricone part again

He did. He said "And also a big thank-you to Andy Lau with his Hong Kong masterpiece... just a phenomenal movie!" right before he thanked his wife and kids. He could have name-dropped Infernal Affairs but he still gave the movie it's due, I feel.

they cry afterwards :(

Tell them about Halo 3. I will get you in the beta. Also try to explain the ending of MGS2 to them.

I just made some random predicts the day this opened and didn't go back to change them. Oops. The website seems down though, so I don't even know how I did. 7, wow! That's much lower than I would have expected. I probably picked upsets randomly like Peter O'Toole and stuff, but I don't really know. :lol :lol

As far as the show goes, it was probably the best Oscars in recent memory. Great telecast although the writing segment wasn't funny at all.

Random film recommendation:

The announcer mentioned Downfall while saying something about foreign films. If you haven't seen it, GO RENT/BUY IT. One of the greatest movies about WWII in my opinion.

:lol So everyone is in agreement that Children of Men got the massive shaft on Cinematogrophy?
Pretty much. Should have won for editing as well, not to mention all the nominations that it should have gotten but didn't.

Was Eddie Murphy pissed because of last night's loss for Best Supporting Actor in Dreamgirls? A couple media folks who were at last night's Oscars say Eddie looked a bit heated when he lost and definitely got up and left the show after his category was announced. Damn Eddie. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to release Norbit ads during Oscar voting time like your producers advised you not to. Oh well...
