Have you gals watched Arrested Development?

If you haven't I have a tip for you. Watch Arrested Development.

Then, watch it again. And again.

Awesome.

Love it. Watched it when it was still on Fox and have watched again start to finish on Hulu (and this was all before I came to GAF and found other AD lovers!) I want to rewatch it with my friends or at least my bf because I know they would love it but they all seem apathetic.

Oh, girl-GAF, I must swoon, and this seems to be the place. I used my fella's computer last weekend to do my voting/reading on the poetry thread, and since I was talking about it, he decided he should write a poem, too. So this morning I woke up to poetry and a shy boy.

Which I guess means GAF increased the romance in my life, which I guess also makes me a much bigger nerd than I was a few hours ago, but it's happy-making, so I'll accept my increased nerdosity. :lol

So cute :D I'll never forget when my man wrote me a short poem a few years ago. I still have it in a box of nostalgia in the top of my closet, actually.

I did stuff like that for my girlfriend every now and then. Once I created a list of 100 reasons why I loved her. Yes, 100 unique reasons and it didn't take as long as I expected it to. It was a huge hit. Major points for that one. The tiny, thoughtful things really do make the most difference. Those were good days.

I agree with the Temple comment. Back in undergrad at Drexel, the Temple anime organization tried to recruit us just for free labor at their events, no interest in any type of cooperative activity at all :|

Their organization is run by this dick I had in my Japanese class. Ugh, I'm not big into anime though, the people in that club all fucking scared me. Like I know they cried at night because they weren't in an anime/manga. :lol

When we all met for dinner, the president of Temple's org didn't show up because apparently he was too unstable.
Temple people are scary, no offense, and I work only a few streets down from the main campus :lol

I just watched both Community and 30 Rock season finales. Oh man Community didn't disappoint!
When Sleater and Britta both told Jeff they loved him, I was like "But Jeff loves Annie" before they even showed them kiss!! :D

And boo, I want Lemon with Snipes. :(

My guy used to write poems and sweet/silly/funny songs for me all the time when we started going out. He's way more romantic than I am. One of the reasons why I love him so damn much! :D

Booo!!!

You and me, we aren't friends anymore!

<-- Team Britta all the way!

EDIT: Ugh, my right eye is all messed up right now. Went out this morning, got something in my eye. It got so itchy and irritated that I couldn't stop rubbing it and now it's all swollen and kind watery. :(

EDIT EDIT: Arrested Development, TV show of the century!

Noooo, I'm sorry! I just like Annie a lot! I'm waaayyy buzzed people. I will spout silly secrets if people asked me. I'm 100% miss. honesty right now.

Awe, I was just joking. :p

Annie and Britta are friends, so why can't Team Annie and Team Britta be friends too?

But seriously,
I don't see A/J storyline going anywhere.

Well its only because
A/J seem to have a lot of more chemistry than J/B. Though I think its safe to say that any pairing can't really go anywhere?

J/A used to have great chemistry in the beginning of the show, I remember the debate episode! I used to ship them back then but now? J/B have better chemistry than A/J, for sure. Remember the especially where they team up to take down those annoying high school kids (and their mother)? I loved them in that episode! They also had great chemistry in the Modern Warfare episode. There was NO build up to it. Plus J/B slept together two episodes ago, they can't do that and go back to normal!

I figured with Britta transferring anyways, it paved the way for J/A. I continued to ship them D:

Since this is the Girl-GAF thread, I think it's not completely useless to have one of mom's home remedies for itchy eyes: a cold, used teabag.

Also, not scratching.

Whoa, that actually helped a lot! Thank you so much.

I cant go out tonight, though. The itchyness is alright now, but the skin around my eye is a bit swollen/puffy and pinkish. Not too swollen though, I can open my eyes fully but I still look awful! :( I hate having sensitive (and dry) skin.

Britta is transferring? What? Have I missed an episode? When was that? I thought she was going for Anthropology for next year/semester with the rest of the group?

Oh didn't see this thread before. Been out of town with no internet for a few weeks so I haven't been on GAF the past couple of weeks. :o

who gets eczema breakouts under stress
, if you are ever looking for a new lotion, Gold Bond Ultimate Healing w/ Aloe saved my life/skin. Image: http://www.shefinds.com/files/a0315.jpg (Not a spokeswoman, I swear).

Yeah, I was confused why she was nominated for Transfer Queen since I thought she was staying another year. Anybody care to explain?

I've tried so many face creams/lotions but nothing's worked so far. My sister makes homemade lotion-thing that works for the most part but smells awful, I still need to use tons of moisturiser during the day though. Thank you soo much for the recommendation. I really needed a new lotion. I'm definitely going to try that! I hope I can find it in the UK, though.
Is that a body lotion though? I've heard that you should use body lotions on face. I'm mostly looking something for my face.

Something about them transferring to a real college.. Uh, I'm not sure how community colleges work.

Ah, this is a big one.

Why do women like to keep a box with things from their previous relationships? Is it because in a way you can't let go?

I understand how one would want to hold those that they once dated dear to them (unless they were douchebags), thing is, not only do those things say too much about yourself, but it also feels as if they didn't want to have a relationship from zero, it is an uneven playing field for us guys that come too late into their lives. :C

Yeah in the US we have community colleges, which I mean, they're real colleges but anyone can get in regardless of their GPA and they're a lot cheaper than universities aka "real colleges". You can go to community colleges to take care of pre-reqs, or have a solid GPA before going to a university.

So, apparently Britta is transferring. *shrug*

I throw my shit out. If you've broken up with me (or with friends, gotten into a fight with me that's so serious we stopped being friends) then I throw that shit out in anger. I am mostly a sentimental person though. It has nothing to do with the person, just what the object represents which is a happy moment in which I was receiving the gift.

I hope I don't get crucified for this but...who is going to see Sex and the City 2? I AM. :D

From current relationships, yes. But previous relationships? I don't think so. I'm not really into keeping things though current or old, but I have saved most poems and songs that my bf wrote me. That's about it.

But TRANNY (:lol) dance party was for the ENTIRE college. Also, they never hinted at Britta leaving before finale, and even then they didn't actually SAY they she was the only one leaving? I'm confused.

I keep everything like that because I write, and letters are a wonderful way to get inside someone else's heads. If you've ever written me a letter (or anything else), odds are I've read it 60+ times and taken notes on it.

eta: Liked LOST. GAF-girl fight go?

Hi girls (and boys who lurk this thread that secretly wants to be a girl)

I'm bored D:
And I don't want to study D: D:

Anyway, since you guys are talking about shows, do you guys get REALLY into them? Personally, I don't mind if I miss it because I can always catch it on Hulu. But my boyfriend is INTENSE. He gets himself hyped up for it and wants to be left alone when he watches 24 and Lost. Is there something I'm missing? I'd say my most favorite show that I follow is Dexter, but I'm not THAT intense about it...

Ugh, I have
eczema
too! Fortunately, it's only in a small part of my body (the side of my ring finger). It sucks because once it heals, and it gets itchy, the feeling when you scratch it feels SOOO GOOOD >__< The Hydrocortisone creams and the 'intense relief' lotions did nothing to it so I will look for the Gold Bond when my current lotion runs out :]

I seriously thought that the episode was weak as hell.
I liked the reunions, though. But for some reason, I felt a bit empty inside after finding out they'd been dead all this time in the alt universe..

He's like one of those girls that are absolutely nuts about shows like GG or Sex in the city, seriously, guys are no different than girls. They make fun of girls for watching girly shows religiously but just look at Lost series finale topic, 95% of the guys who posted in that topic cried several times during that episode!

Well I know the TRANNY dance was for everyone to attend, but I thought the queens/kings were the transfer students themselves? Oh man, now I'm confused.

@hey_monkey : OMG YOU HAVE A WHITE STRIPES ICON. Meg White and Karen O are my role models. Though they seem to contradict each other in stage performance, I think they're a lot a like off stage.

@srenity And I don't get too into my shows. I mean, season finales are the only time I do not like being interrupted, basically. So, Sex and the City, Grey's Anatomy, Gossip Girl, any show you can interrupt me on. But if its the season finale? Shut up. Series finale and I'll probably go off the radar.

I thought this said "white strips" at first and I was like "why is she getting all excited about tooth-whitening?" :lol

I get somewhat intense about my favorite shows. I mean I don't have to watch them right as they air or anything, I'm okay with catching them on Hulu (though I prefer my TiVo<3), but I HATE when people start talking during them and I miss out on dialogue.

Before I lived on my own, it was commonplace for roommates or my parents to try to do dishes while I was in the middle of a program. The TV being within earshot of the sink, I'd get rather cheesed.

This is why we love the digital recorders (mine is a Rogers PVR.)

I'm such a superfan. We must have roughly the same taste in music, you and me!

re: LOST -- I have my issues with it, but too many things I wanted happened for me to be upset, like
Hurley ending up king of the fucking island. GOLDEN.

I still haven't seen even one episode of lost. Would you mind summing up the series in its entirety for me?

Man, I'm the ONLY one going to see Sex and the City 2? D:

@hey_monkey - It seems like it! Though we might split after YYYs and the WSs. I like Damien Rice, Peaches, Le Tigre (well I'm getting into their work) and I still like the Spice Girls from childhood.

I also spend a lot of time singing along to Disney music. Anyone have any more music recommendations? How is Goldfrapp?

I'm all for chick shows/movies but I refuse to have any interest in S&TC. Ugh, I hate that show. I hear the movies are supposed to be worse.

For recommendations, I submit my last.fm page, which shows what a ridiculous Jack White superfan I am. Seriously, the play count of Jacky White: everything else is a little embarrassing.

I'm always on the lookout for music recommendations myself. Maybe we can do that in our thread, too!

Same. SatC and GG are two shows that I refuse to watch no matter what, even though I adore Kristin Davies. Although, I used to think Mr Big was kinda hot back in the day.

*high-five*

not about Mr Big though

I just really dislike SJP, both the actress and her character on the show. I didn't mind the other chicks, but I didn't like her being in the center. I found her entirely unlikeable with few redeeming qualities or moments. It's funny, because I typically like unlikeable female characters. In fact, at AWP this year there was a panel on writing the "all-around bitch" and some of the things they said actually got me thinking about SATC and why I didn't like it. I felt like most of the really humanizing moments occurred with the other women. Not so much with Carrie, who kept perpetuating the same shit and getting away with it with minor suffering.

Note I never watched much, so maybe I missed some things. Also I know it's not the most serious show. But I just found that annoying the few eps I did watch. Really liked Miranda and Charlotte, though, even when they were stupid, and Samantha is just hilarious.

SJP's character cheated on that really nice guy with the long hair. He loved her but she burned him. Fuck that show.

Kyoufu said:

:lol Well, of course you're a guy!

As for girly shows, I only watch Glee (occasionally). Btw, is the Vampire Diaries show considered girly? I kinda like it. Fills the void that Angel left in my heart after it got cancelled.

Kyoufu said:

He was better off without her anyway. I think he got together with another girl and had a baby with her?

That's where I watched for a while, so that may be why I hate the character. He was awesome. She's a fuckup. Which is actually pretty realistic... the point on which the show is pretty uneven, I think.

I don't watch S&tC either. It seems that those women are too old for most of that (I mean SJP dresses like a fourteen year old). I hope to be doing more with my life when I'm that age. Having said that, I'm addicted to Glee and Golden Girls so I can't talk. :D

Does anybody else here have oily sensitive skin? I very fair skinned so I need spf35 sunscreen moisturizer, but I haven't found the right cleanser/moisturizer combo. Does anybody have any suggestions? These zits are driving me crazy!

Doesn't matter if I'm a guy, I can admit to another guy being hot too without being gay.

For example, Damon in Vampire Diaries......hubba hubba.

Seriously. He even gave her a second chance and still wanted to marry her but the bitch just couldn't do it. He was the best thing that ever happened to her and she totally took advantage. He deserved better anyway.

Inanna said:

Yeah, but he's supposed to show up in the new movie so who knows what happened there.

I never understood how the fashion on that show was supposed to be so wonderful. SJP always looked ridiculous and often like shit to me. Guess I'm just not fashionable enough ;)

Agreed. He's just so dreamy!

I know what you mean, I'm not gay but still I have a huge crush on Monica Belucci and Selma Hayek.

I always liked Kristin Davies' character's fashion sense (maybe a little too girly though) much better than SJP.

Goldfrapp is pretty great. Especially the more uptempo stuff. If you want sassy ladies, check out these dope tracks:

Cetaphil is always great as a cleanser. It's so delicate it feels like it's doing nothing, but it really did wonders to my skin when I had a bunch of breakouts three years ago :] I currently have normal/combination, but I heard this product does really well with oily skin too

For moisturizers with SPF, I'm not sure what to recommend... But looking/reading around, it looks like Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel and Shiseido's Ultimate Sun Protection Cream SPF 55 is getting recommendations for oily skin. I've used Shiseido's sun cream like I would a moisturizer before, and it works great :P

Oh! And invest in oil-blotting sheets if you haven't done so already.
