I'm a big fan of Nash, and even I don't think he should win it this year. I'm rooting for Brand, but it doesn't look like it'll happen. :(

So Prince, Wallace, Wallace and Hamilton had nothing to do with it? It's all Billups. Record matters, but you have to take a look at the talent around a player as well.

Yeah you're right on that, but the mentality of wanting to pick the MVP from the best team is there among some of the MVP voters. It's not a majority opinion though so Billups won't win it.

I thought this was a good article on the whole MVP thing: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_y...VPS8vLYF?slug=ap-themvprace&prov=ap&type=lgns

<-- Howard's stats 28pts 26rebs :O

Magic win a big playoff like game. If they don't make it this year they should be well primed for next. 50+ wins.

What a GREAT game by the Magic and especially Howard. He was a beast tonight and so much fun to watch.

It'll be sad if they don't make the playoffs, but they are primed to be a top team in the league next year.

28 and 26 plus 2 steals and a block. And he's 20 years old -- ridiculous.

Damn he's a beast man. Wish he would've played a year or two at Carolina (imagine if the Heels had Hansbrough, Marvin Williams, and Dwight Howard this year? Crazy).

With Amarie and Bogut, the NBA will be safe when Duncan and Shaq retire. Duncan already said he'll be long gone from the NBA when Howard becomes a beast.

There are some nasty young power forwards in the league...guys who are either rebounding monsters like Howard and Okafor, or guys who are almost as quick and smooth as many small forwards like Bosh and Bogut. Couple that with the ridiculous array of shooting guards, and it's clear that talent isn't a problem with the league.

Now if we could only find some above average centers...

Greg Oden and LaMarcus Aldridge should rectify that in the next couple of years...

lmao apparantely Flavor Flav was at the Bobcats game tonight wearing a huge ass Bobcats clock :lol

Kings beat up on Nuggets, need one more win now for playoffs. They keep having absolute screwups(Mavs game, 2nd half vs Phoenix) but have been slowly edging up playwise.

As for MVP, I think I'd go with Dirk. He's having one of his best years and the Mavs are legit this year as well. I guess I break it down to Detroit, Dallas and San Antonio being the three best teams and Detroit has no one player carry them, San Anotnio's best player has struggled and that basically leaves the Mavs and Dirk. I'd put hte Heat at #4, and Wade has been big for them. I just don't see Miami winning it all though.

The Eastern conference playoff "race" is a disgrace to sports...

For real, hopefully next year it will be much stronger. Bulls will likely fill a few needs, Magic are finally become strong contenders, hopefully Raptors will become a lot better next year, bucks will only become stronger, and Indiana needs to regroup. Next year should look something like this:

1. Detriot Pistons
2. Miami Heat
3. New Jersey Nets
4. Cleveland Cavaliers
5. Indiana Pacers
6. Orlando Magic
7. Chicago Bulls
8. Bucks, 76'ers, Wizards, Raptors, Celtics

The teams in the East aren't THAT bad, just this year... well, they played like shit down the stretch. The battle for 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th, is still up for grabs, all under .500, and very close. Hopefully Orlando can grab the eight spot. They're the only team out of bulls and sixer's, in my opinion, that can give the Pistons a little challange in the playoffs, seeing as their probably the hottest team in the league. Unfortunatley for the Magic, their playoff fate (seeing if bulls lose the next two) are in my Raptors hands, who face the bulls on their last regular season game. Sadly, Raptors can't seem to win against the bulls.

I think next year the Bobcats could realistically compete for a playoff spot (8th spot of course) provided Okafor, Wallace, and Felton all stay healthy.

Any bets on who will win Most Improved Player? Boris Diaw seems to be my pick, from not playing on the hawks to a potential triple double every night. :lol

Shit, they can't seem to win against anybody. :lol Raptors should have a decent team next year though, with Charlie V and Joey Graham in their second year, Bosh still improving, a ton of cap space and a competent GM to work with it (for once). I do not want to see Mike James resigned though, unless it's for a bargain price...I just despise the way he plays.

I agree, we DESPERATLEY need a pass first point guard. Either that, or just give Calderon more minutes so he can gain experience. I remember in the begining of the season he was dishing out 7-9 assists a game. Now? his just sitting his ass on the bench, rotting away along with hoffa and graham, watching bonner guard shaq for 40 minutes, then see the lanky loren woods run around. Fuck Sam Mitchell, bonner should out be playing 10 mins per game, woods should be released, graham should be playing now so he could improve for next year, and hoffa needs a chance to get some confidence, who cares if he fouls out early, just let him play now, their playing for the lottery now anyways. The only reason they're keeping sam is because bosh loves the couch apparantly, hopefully he'll change his mind.

As for Mike James, package the guy in a sign and trade deal, try to get a decent point guard or something. Mike James to indiana for jamal tinsley (and that foreign 3 point shooter if his needed to make contracts match). Larry Bird already stated that pacers are in for a change, and they don't seem very high on tinsley or that foreign guy. If not that, then trade Mike James to cleveland for flip murray, therefore cleavland gets another consistant scorer, and raptors gets a good sg/sf who wants to and can start.

As for the draft, for the bigs i'm only interested in Tyrus Thomas, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Bargani, and for the small forwards/guards, I like Rudy Gay, Brandon Roy and Marcus Williams.

Also, any news whether or not Alvin Williams and Eric Williams will opt out of their contract?

Yo Konex tell KonexII to stop posting in the MLB thread >_<

ps- Lakers bashing is fun,its like a sport in itself.

I still can't believe what Scoop Jackson said about the Mavs.

" The beginning of the downfall. Avery Johnson will still get consideration as Coach of the Year. "

He picked Mavs to finish TENTH in the West and still thought Avery Johnson would get Coach of the Year consideration. That makes no sense at all.

Has Scoop Jackson ever made sense?

no Nash or Raja Bell? If we don't win this we don't deserve to go to the playoffs. And with Raja out Kobe's got a shot at 60. He put up 50 on Bell last week.

Suns would be better off facing the Lakers in round 1 anyway. They should throw this game. Something tells me this game will improve Nashs chances for MVP too.

The Lakers are playing the greatest basketball the world has ever seen in the first 4 minutes.

Even Kwame is looking good. I sense a Steelers like run to the Championship!

Konex is right again! Nash is not the MVP. His absence doesnt effect this team at all.

Bionic, you might want to call in that favor before the playoffs.

Nash isn't gonna stop Kwame from looking like Shaq in there. Nash might steal the MVP from Bron or Kobe with this game but Suns don't wanna see us in the playoffs :lol

Why wouldn't they want to see the Lakers in the Playoffs? Besides this game, the Suns have won every encounter with the Lakers this season.

Lakers were on back to backs every single one of them except this game. It's not easy to play this running style on a back to back :)

Not only were the Lakers on back to backs, they those 2nd games were followed by late night TNT games, not even afternoon games.

On top of that the Lakers defense is better now than it has been all season.

On top of that LO is playing better then he has all season.

Bryant is giving the MVP award to Nash. The media isn't going to see how amazing he's playing, but only how bad the Suns suck without Nash. "OMG Suns are terrible without Nash... MVPx2!!!"
