Aston Villa v Arsenal 2.24, 54.3%, £12.40
Man City v Chelsea 1.53, 62.1%, £5.30

CHA-CHING!

Well, it would be if I'd actually bet. Good start anyway.

I checked today and could have gotten slightly better odds too if I'd done it at the right time.

arsenal played pretty bad imo. daby (?) constantly lost the ball and well, it was a pretty boring match imo. in the second half, when rosicky came in, you could definetely see some improvement though (mainly in the pace).

did anyone see what wenger said to baptista when he substituted him? it looked like he was saying that baptista was a lazy bitch:lol

You can get 12.00 (11/1) right now on Bolton beating United this Saturday at betfair! 12! If I could just sign up like that, I'd put a quid on that (to potentially win £12 back), but it's more complicated than that. They aren't likely to beat them, but that's got to be better odds than winning a tenner on the lottery. It's 8.00 at Ladbrokes btw.

Top of the table now:

1 Man Utd 29 47 72
2 Chelsea 29 32 66
3 Arsenal 28 28 55
4 Liverpool 29 24 53

Games, goal difference, points. It could still all change, Chelsea are at home to Sheffield United this Saturday, with Man Utd at home to Bolton, so that's certainly a slip up point.

I'm a bad lipreader, but it looked something like "puna" or "pufa" to me.

It's Diaby btw.

Oh my God...

Wenger certainly put Beast on blast when he took him off, something he rarely does in public view. I reckon that's just the last few weeks of frustration pouring out. That said, it doesn't exactly bode well for JB's chances of staying here.

just watched the post game interview with Wenger and apparently Baptista has a bad back injury, which he didn't agree with at the time, but after the game it became evident. I hope he's not out for too long, or striker Moop will become a reality.

Arsenal one the first leg against Man Utd in the Emirates 1:0 yesterday btw, watched by 38,000 (!!). It's the biggest ever crowd to watch a youth game in England.

I listened to Radio 5's 606 yesterday, they talked about this penalty shoot out idea. Needless to say, the callers were unimpressed. I very much doubt that it will happen, the managers and clubs won't agree either. Wenger already said that he doesn't want it, I have no clue how anyone could be in favour of this.

looks like Arsenals new away shirt will be white. I'm unsure if that's so great, although the mock-up looks ok.

who else has white shirts? Spurs, Chelsea, Man Utd, Bolton, Liverpool. I don't agree with it.

Voronin performed rather good yesterday for Bayer Leverkusen against Lens in UEFA cup, scoring 1 and assisting twice. Looks like Liverpool gonna get a solid player this summer, though I wouldnt say a "world class" 1.

P.S. He did make an obligatory woodwork hit again though. :)

I think Arsenal need to make a few changes to stamp out the kinds of stupid errors and wasted chances that have been the cause of their current problems.

Diaby doesnt have enough quality to be a feared and consistent striker. Baptista hasn't been what was expected but I think he should get another season to try and find his game. Hleb gives away stupid fouls and loses possession too regularly...he needs to sort this aspect of his game out. Senderos can be a liability at the back and doesn't have the pace to keep up with the top strikers in the game. And I think it is time to say goodbye to Mad Jens - despite Hleb giving away that ridiculous foul against PSV, Jens really ****ed up his positioning (not for the first time) and was in no-mans-land when the ball was headed down the middle of the goal.

Arsenal's problems are exaggerated by the fact that some of their best players are all injured at the moment - but this situation has highlighted the flaws in the certain players and the team need to inject some quality into their "back up". Just a few years ago Arsenal were feared in front of goal and has a back 4 who had an amazing defensive record - they need to find that kind of game again

I like the blue and black strip, but then I always did like Inter's shirts.

Would the mainly white with red even be allowed? Lots of teams have red and white strips, chances are you'd have to use the third kit quite often.

Maybe that's the ploy, get people to buy more shirts.

yeah, it does look nice, but I'd always think I'm watching Inter. That's no good for an Arsenal shirt.

edit:

still better than this one :lol

this has to be fake. please.

Looks like the fake Arsenal "Inter'd" jersey from last summer. :lol I do love the Inter jersey, but it just looks weird with an Arsenal badge.

I do like teams to swap away colours every year though, even if just alternating between two. Makes the visual appeal of the game slightly more interesting.

Maybe Arsenal should go back to their redcurrant home strip permanently, and then they can have a white and red away strip.

Attendances from last night:

FA Youth Cup - Arsenal vs. ManU at the Grove - 38,187
UEFA Cup - Tottenham vs. Braga at Shitehart Lane - 33,761

:lol

I'm not sure. I found a match report here and there's some video on Arsenal.com, but I don't have access to that.
He ran the show.

If somebody wants to see the match report, I can upload it to youtube. I won't make it public since I don't want to be sued by Arsenal, so you'll have to give me your youtube usernames.

Arsenal's youth team looked very good, but to be fair it was rather even and Utd play mainly younger players while Arsenal had some more experienced players in the mix. Our youth team tends to be some reserve players and some young players.

I'm not too thrilled about that generation anyway. but some of our loanees look very good and will probably make it at premiership level at least. Rossi, Pique, Evans, Simpson, Bardsley, Gibson, Rich Jones, Campbell and a few others have really good shouts at top level football and maybe at least 4 will break through at Utd fingers crossed.

But you just dont know, the reserve team who won absolutely every trophy available to them in one season ended up being mostly disbanded now. Dave Jones for example went to Derby and is doing very well.

it'd be kinda stupid if your home colours are red with white sleeves white shorts and your away was white with red sleeves red shorts.

so many fakes around.

speaking of shirts I was wondering about famous shirt numbers around the world. I consider the Utd no.7 shirt to be really iconic but then I guess thats not the case for every club. 11, 10 are also coveted numbers here.

which do you reckon is the most pretigious shirt number in the world and who is the current holder?

That just has to be my Extreme t-shirt with the suicide clown on it.

Personally I always liked the Barcelona shirt, especially since they don't have a shirt sponsor (or before they had unicef on it).

video is coming in a minute, youtube is bloody slow.

I went through every username I use and all of them were taken, and I don't like just changing them slightly as I forget how I've done it, so I had to come up with a new one and both illyria and wesley were taken so what other choice was there?

I always use to fight for the number 7 top at school, I wanted something which said right footed midfielder/forward but, most importantly, no defensive responsibilities.

I'm a 7 man myself, but I think being a Utd fan may have influenced that, wondered how other fans may feel.

Arsenal fans for example probably like the 14 shirt.

it was obvious, I think it's gonna be 5 - 10 games.

The video is still going to take a bit btw, there's some shitty DRM on it, so I have to convert it first. Doesn't work in youtube at the moment.

Thanks for that Hadareud, good to see the youngsters show some of the fluidity of a typical Arsenal squad. I hadn't realised Steve Bould was still kicking about Arsenal as well. :)

:lol :lol :lol That's just pathetic...

A few Arsenal news items (rumoured or otherwise) out there...

- Andy Johnson apparantely can't settle in Merseyside and would like a move back to London (boy would he be perfect for us).

- Juventus are apparantely close to a deal that would land them Gilberto Silva.

- Inter Milan has made Thierry Henry their number one target (yeah, that'll happen...he spurns Barcelona, but he's gonna join a league he was happy to leave years ago?).

- Theo Walcott has opted to get shoulder surgery done now, rather than wait till the summer.

- France has called up Abou Diaby, who they'll probably run into the ground just to spite Wenger.

- The English FA can eat a bag of dicks.

BTW, I reckon Ribery will remain Wenger's first choice signee, if he's able to afford him, along with a young but top level keeper.

UEFA Cup quater-finalists:

Werder Bremen
Bayer Leverkusen
Sevilla
Espanyol
Osasuna
Tottenham
Benfica
AZ Alkmaar

I'd be surprised if the trophy ends up anywhere but Bremen, Sevilla or Spurs.

Draw for the next two rounds tomorrow, midday.

I think Ribery would definitely be great for your squad, and he is very impressive (just not his teeth).

And if you could get Carson or somone else for 5 mill, that's really good.

Ribery would be a good signing, especially compared to Babel.

Arsenal should look into Elano Blumer. He currently plays for Shaktar Donetsk, and before that was part of the great Santos team in '02/03, together with Alex (PSV), Renato (Sevilla), Robinho (Real Madrid) and Diego (Werder). He's good for some 10 goals a season, and Dunga sees in him one of the most important players for the brazilian team of the future. Personally, I'd love to see PSV try and get him, but he's probably out of our league.

Has anyone seen Ribery play since the summer? (I haven't.) Just curious if he's been keeping up the quality work on the wing, or if he's slipped a bit. He seemed like a good player during the world cup, but I'm not convinced he's worth the 20 million or so that's been tossed around as an asking price.
