It's always been my dream to live in a place like that, I just live in a shitty town in London and the biggest eye-candy is a block of flats :(
I lived in London for 3 years, and it was really depressing at times. now I live in a nice small village just outside Reading though (Twyford), in a flat with a balcony overlooking a lake. Best of all it's actually cheaper than London.

Where in Canada was that Mama? Looks great.

I was just playing this football quiz at yahoo, which you can see here if you like:

http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/fo/#null (middle-ish of the page)

It's pretty easy, I haven't got a question wrong yet, and I keep having to start again because you only go through 5 questions a time (I don't care about the leaderboard), but it's a useful timewaster. Anyway, I just came across a question on which ground Shrewsbury Town play at, which I'd forgotten about but got it through elimination....Gay Meadow! Hahahahaha Gay Meadow....Gay Meadow...Gay...Meadow...I love it.

Does anyone know of longer, decently challenging but not impossible football quizzes?

Vancouver, downtown.

Israel are up against Estonia, which is no surprise, but it does make an England victory even more crucial.

I expect us to win something like 3-0, but I'd love it if we could grab 6 or 7. Just complete decimate them, so they hardly touch the ball and are facing shots every minute, until they're so mad they hack down Rooney and Ferdinand in a fit of repulsive indiscipline that I'd never support.

I expect a poor performance and an eventual 2:0 win. Games against countries like Andorra are always shitty, you can almost never look good against them. So it will be a win with another british press shitstorm to follow.

:lol :lol if I was you I'd be paying more attention to Portugal, I'll be so pissed if Ronaldo is made to play through an injury and its then made worse by Vidic hacking him down.

and yes, I almost did a little jig for joy when I heard Lampard was out, I dont care about England, and I'd rather all Utd players retire from international football right now, but as a pure football fan I want to see if my theory is right.

Sadly it'll probably be hargreaves instead. But its so irritating that Mclaren would try Lampard and Gerrard AGAIN! How many chances do they need to even show an inkling of a good pertnership?

you don't say

It is Hargreaves. And Johnson stays up front rather than Defoe, despite the latter looking more dangerous against Israel.

I don't think it really matters who starts. I suppose there's the tiniest possibility of an upset, after all San Marino were drawing with Ireland until the last 5 minutes not too long ago, it can happen.

But it better not *sharpens knives*

You know, it's a shame so many of us are spread out around the world. I've never really got how people become friends in real life after meeting on a messageboard, but maybe I'm just too cynical. My brother met his girlfriend on some random forum and there are always E3 meet ups so I guess it works out. And one of my friends visits this stupid girls' forum where they talk about fashion and Celebrity Love Island and other shit like that, and they're all really nice and friendly to each other so I guess they could become friends...I joined to see what it was like and was banned within a day. I was just posting like I do at gaf, she looked stupid in her new boots! She needed to know the truth, in as harsh a manner as possible!

My point is this thread is the closest thing I have to that. It'd be great to have some sort of E3-style meet up at a big football match every so often, but we're all over the world, so it's just not gonna happen.

It's a partcular shame none of you live in South Africa, as far as I know, so you can't put me up for free for the next world cup.
Id love to have a meet-up. I get along best with the people that post in this thread because Ive spent so much time here. Due to A-levels, Ive getting less and less free time, but if I do have the chance to post at gaf, then this is the thread that I always post in first. Unfortunately it isnt going to happen/ We all live so far apart from each other. A couple of us are in the uk, some are in NA, others are in europe and I live in dubai. The only problem with a meet-up is that Ive got a feeling shinobi will punch kaizoku.

Mclaren is too scared to drop one of them or he is either hoping that the two of them start playing the way they do for their clubs, even though they've faiulded to do so tegether for a long time. The truth is that if there was a way to get lampard and gerrard to play well together and they being to show their club form, we would have an immense midfield. Im convinced that we can get those two to play well alongside each other, but only if we had a world class manager who is tactically aware. Mclaren isnt that type of manager at all.

1-0

11 min: GOAL Italy 1 - 0 Scotland. This has been coming. What awful marking as Oddo swings in a free kick from the right to find Toni, four yards out and with no white shirt near him. He nuts it into the net and Scotland's reign as Unofficial World Champions is over, having lasted a mere 11 minutes. That's Scotland!

Wooh, Holland is playing pretty well, at least some sense of urgency. Still 0-0 though.

Van Basten put 5 new players into the squad, and it shows. This is tonight's line-up:

--------------------Vd Sar
Heitinga-Mathijsen-Bouma-Emanuelson
---------------------------------------------
-----Afellay----------------V Bronckhorst
-------------------Sneijder
-----Babel--------------------Robben
-------------------Kuijt

2-0 !!!

Gattuso is simply amazing

Have to listen to the game on the Internet in Italian. Damn exciting, both Toni goals sounded like carbon copies. FORZA!!!!

Maldini called out the Scots as frauds and he was correct. They should go back to doing whatever it is that they do best...assuming of course there is something..

Italia has much more class, history, style and flair than these generic MacDougalls...

Maldini is always right:):) :) :)

Oh, for the Arsenal fans - Bendtner scored in Denmark's 1-0 victory over Germany in a friendly. Sounds like understrength squads for both teams...

Did the Scots say something to piss off Maldini? Most of the Scottish quotes I read this week were pretty complimentary of Italy.

Good stuff from England. I know it's only Andorra, but still.

If I manage to download the game, I'll work out how to make movies and upload them to show anyone who didn't see the ridiculous number of chances we missed. I actually think we played better than when we beat them 5-0 at home, but again, bad finishing. Seems strange to say that after a 3-0 win, but honestly, we basically scored a goal for every 10 chances.

I thought Nugent did well after he came on, maybe Blackburn should get him. And him stealing Defoe's goal = :lol

Never thought I'd say this...but maybe we should drop Rooney for a while :\

They were scared of the impending defeat at hand so they figured they might as well wash the finely shaved loins of our beloved Italia...

It's Scotland. You guys are world champions, they haven't even qualified for the last 4 major tournaments. A 2-0 home victory is standard, nothing more.

Cornballer said:
Sounds like Gerrard played pretty well, too. Would you continue to sit Lampard even if he's fit?

Well I would prefer Lampard, but my main thing has always been that it's just one of them. They're both world class players, there's not too much difference between the two for me so long as only one of them is on the pitch.

Apart from finishing, the only thing I'd say needed to be improved tonight was set pieces. Just...rubbish balls into the box. Even Gerrard, who did have a good game, put a terrible cross in when we were at 0-0 which went about 10 metres above anyone's head and straight behind. No one else did any better...we just lack any true star at them since Beckham's gone.

As a Scotsman, don't see what is wrong with what either of them said in that article. Either way I thought we played well considering we were playing the World Cup champs. Can't say I expected to win, but just like it did against France sometime upsets do happen and you can't take everything for granted.

**** only knows why we played Miller instead of Boyd, you know, the only Scotland stiker who scores goals regulary. How Miller missed the header at the end of the first half I don't know but he never seems to do jack shit.

Scotland played well, I thought. Italy looked good most of the time, but far from invincible.

Anyway, what news of Vildaroth and the Armies of Darkness? :lol

Gerrard was MOTM easy, great second half for the chap :D two fantastic goals and assist... they pulled themselves together in the 2nd half, was quite worrying after the first but they sorted it.

International week is finally over, thankfully! Bring on the weekend, Liverpool vs. Arsenal :D

The first half wasn't brilliant, but we could still have easily gone in 2-0 up.

McClaren's substitutions were pretty good. Rooney was taken off not long after he got a yellow card, as he was looking like he could be sent off any moment. I suspect that was the reason he went off, but he should have been subbed anyway, wasn't playing well.

Then when Richards was injured, rather than bring on a right back which would have been pointless, he brought on Dyer who looked dangerous around the box.

Nugent was probably just to give him a chance, but his movement was superior to Johnson's to my mind.

HEALY HEALY HEALY HEALY HEALY!

Now top goalscorer in the euro champ qualifiers by 2 clear goals :lol

Sweden and Spain both beaten, now Denmark. We're top of our group lolllllll.

Northern Ireland last qualified for a major tournament the year I was born World Cup 86. Sure we probably still won't qualify but it's nice to enjoy a win. If only we hadn't been shit against Iceland, we'd be doing so amazing now.

I just realised Northern Ireland beat Sweden 2-1. That's...really impressive. Top of their group and Spain are currently being held 0-0 by Iceland, which would be an amazing result for them.

If only they hadn't lost 3-0 at home to Iceland in their first game.

EDIT: And by just realised, I don't mean when MrPing posted.

Lets not forget Rooney created the first goal which gave England the platform to perform.

Personally it was still a pathetic performance, its bloody Andorra. Sorry, I have high standards! and rightly so imo.

Lennon is so bad at crossing, its scary, I never ever expect him to produce a good cross and he seems like he isnt even capable. Downing isn't much better. They are like a non threat unless they cut into the box - which happens maybe once a game.

Anyway England sux, wow. Still thinking Carrick should partner Hargreaves with Gerrard floating role behind 2 strikers ala Zidane. Screw the left winger, we'll never score from crosses (unless you want Crouch back). Ashley Cole should be able to push forward a lot more, Carlos/Cafu style - if he wants to be labelled best in the world he should be able to.

Also Rooney and Owen often roam to the left anyway. But forget about it, Mclaren would rather play nugent than carrick wtf.

and nugent stealing defoes goal - wtf. thats disgraceful behaviour, unprofessional. who cares if you're young, you need respect for your team mates and your position. what a selfish idiot. defoe is trying to earn his place and progress his career, he comes on and his movement changes the game and he has some stupid debutant steal his goal. what a prick.

Dude, everyone's laughing about it, even Defoe. Do you think McClaren is only looking at the scoresheet, not watching the game? That he's not going to realise that it was going in anyway, and that Defoe did more?

I think a lot of people have way too high standards for England. With better finishing we would have won that 7-0, no joke. Completely dominant, never any threat against us, a crapload of good chances created. I honestly believe that all it would take is a few more of those shots to go in for the media to be full of praise. Exactly the same performance except the finishing is improved and they're suddenly all stars again. Exactly the same performance but the ball doesn't hit the net and we're a team who can't play.

WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT?!*

We have very different minds.

*except better finishing

EDIT: Apparently that Rooney booking means he's suspended for the Estonia game anyway, so I guess I get my wish. Owen and Joe Cole should be fit by then, but it's too far away to talk about in depth, hell of a lot of injuries can happen between now and then.

Wow, Spain won 1-0, it was tough, 25+ shoots, I was beginning to think that we would never score.

Sweden defeat is bad news for Spain, but we depend on ourselves.

The US has another friendly tonight against Guatemala. As of right now, we're still playing under "interim" coach Bob Bradley, who has led the squad to victories over Denmark (3-1), Mexico (2-0), and Ecuador (3-1.) The head of the US Federation said that he will be making a decision and placing a long term head coach sometime before June, and everyone is curious what he's going to decide.

Supposedly, he wants to get a look at some high profile European coaches (Gerard Houllier and Carlos Queiroz have been mentioned frequently), but I can't see him sacking Bradley if he starts 4-0 against some decent competition. I hope that he at least gets to coach through the Gold Cup and the Copa America this summer to really show if he has what it takes to lead this team. That being said, the president of our federation is a bit of a control freak/egomaniac (we couldn't get Klinsmann because our federation didn't want to give up as much control as Jurgen wanted), so who knows what will happen.
I want to see how a team lead by Bradley does against quality competition outside US soil. I think that's what Gulati is waiting for as well. Then again, there's not much time before Copa America to test that out.

I'd like to see that, as well. The main problem with this summer is that our best players will be in the Gold Cup (here in the US) whereas our secondary squad will play in the Copa America. It makes it tough to judge how well Bradley is coaching because he's not going to have our best players down in Venezuela. (Maybe that'll make it easier to judge if he does well, I guess....) Still, it's a good way to blood some of the youngsters and get them ready for international play.

The US U-20s are playing the Haitian national team right now. Streaming video via the link. Adu is playing along with a bunch of other up and coming players that could be good for the US in the future.

He did what every good striker should do - follow up and make sure the ball goes in the net.
But I guess things are different on your planet. :lol

Also, I think England should play in all white more often. The national colours of England are red & white; no blue, that's for Scotland!
