Ronok said:Whilst I agree Arsenal do need Henry, I don't particularly think he should be captain, I think the way he plays has changed a lot since he was given the role and it's not been good for the side. He needs to be focussed more on what he needs to do for the team rather then what everyone else is doing.. I also think it intimidates other players around him when he's captain like they feel they need to go through him all the time (although that was more at the start of the season). It also doesn't help so much that he's been playing through injury the past two seasons, a body can only take so much and you can definantly tell it's effecting him despite the fact he still produces magic.

Rosicky is however denying that prostitutes took part in it, although there are allegedly pictures.

It's going to be a deep fall.

Since france won the world cup and the euro, there hasnt been a team that has been outstanding. Italy won the world cup last year but they were not the best team there. No team really showed the world that they were exceptional. If I had to pick a team Id say portugal, but thats only because they have Ronaldo. If you take him away from the team portugal would be average.Mama Smurf said:However, best team in Europe? I dunno, I don't think there is a stand out best team in Europe. In fact, I don't think there's a stand out best team in the world at the moment. In the recent past we've had France and Brazil, but they're not the powers they were and no one else seems to have steped up to take their place. Instead I'd say there are a bunch of teams any of which could beat each other on the day...which is great for international football as you never know who's going to win.
If I had to pick a team I'd hate England to play though, from the big guns, it would probably be Portugal. And not just because they've knocked us out of the last two tournaments, on penalties, I just think they're the team we're least equipped to deal with. Plus that Ronaldo bastard...

Maybe Lampards injury is a blessing. He's deserved some of the criticism that he's receieved, but to be fair he's not the only one who isnt performing well. Now that lamps is injured we'll get to see what england play like without him. I really cant understand whats wrong with him when he plays for england. I dont understand how he can score 20 in midfield during one season, yet he couldnt score one of his 23 shots in the world cup.Mama Smurf said:Aaaaand Lampard's just been ruled out of the game with a broken wrist. Which was the result of a Rooney shot hitting him.
Man, that must be like kaizoku's wet dream. I imagine he'll pass out in orgasmic pleasure if it's Carrick who gets the nod instead.
Mama Smurf said:The only thing that should be a worry about this game is that Andorra are just about the dirtiest international side in the world. It'd be...tragic...if Rooney and Ferdinand were injured for the Blackburn game on Saturday. Fingers crossed.

2007-03-26 - European Championship Qualifiers Review / Preview
Forty teams started the night with high ambitions but in the end most of them went as expected, with only six matches worth talking about. The only real upset came early with Kazakhstan beating the Serbs 2-1. The Serbs must really be kicking themselves as they've now lost the impetus in the group with Poland and Portugal moving above them leaving them fourth in the group. The notable results of the night all away wins with Turkey (1-4 v Greece), Bosnia and Herzegovina (1-2 v Norway) and Germany (1-2 v Czech Republic) all impressing. On the other end of the scale were the 0-0 matches between Israel and England, and Netherlands v Romania where fans must have wanted their money back.
Group A
Finland and Poland should end the night with three more points each with matches away to Azerbaijan and at home to Armenia respectively. The real battle of the night will be in Belgrade where the disappointed Serbs will be desperate to perform against the confident Portuguese. Based on Saturday's performances I'd have to go for an away win to compound the troubles of the Serbian team.
Group B
Georgia and Ukraine will likely see off the challenges of the Faroes and Lithuania respectively, but Italy won't have it so easy against the resurgent Scots who have already shown they mean business in the group. Italy will be strong favorites to take the points but they must be careful not to underestimate their challengers and play like they did against the U.S.A. and Australia in the World Cup. If the Scots manage a result, the Italians will be in a lot of trouble in the group as they still have to play France and home and both the Ukraine and Scotland away.
Group C
Turkey head the group and given their respective scores on Saturday they are likely to stay three points ahead of challengers Greece when they play Norway in Frankfurt on Wednesday. Following their punishment handed to them during the last qualifiers, the Turks will be allowed to play their remaining matches at home, and you'd have to say that they shouldn't have any further problems staying top of the group until the end as all the other teams seems to be struggling. Hungary have it all to do at home to Moldova and are no longer easy to predict. Having once ruled Europe, they are now quickly becoming one of Europe's minnows having already succumbed to Malta away and Norway at home. Greece should keep the heat on Turkey when they visit Malta.
Group D
Following Saturday's matches the Germans are strong favorites to win the group with ease. The Czechs have been knocked back into a share of second place but they should get three points when they host Cyprus on Wednesday. Ireland who have claimed three wins on the trot, albeit against San Marino (twice) and Wales, are now back in the race for the runners-up spot but they're up against the tricky Slovakians who are themselves not out of it. The Irish will be desperate for a win as anything else will all but finish their challenge. Even though they have 10 points, they've already played a game more than their challengers, and they've already played three of the four games against the group's minnows. In the group's other match, it should be a case of how many for Wales against San Marino.
Group E
Both Israel and England will be able to let out their frustrations on Estonia and Andorra respectively and you'd expect a few goals in both matches. With wins both will share second spot with Russia, but the Russians will be in the comfortable position of knowing they have a game in hand. It will be a few months yet before we find out who qualifies from this group as many of the really big matches in this group are towards the end.
Group F
With Denmark out of action on Wednesday, Spain know that a win at home to Iceland will get them up to third in the table just a point behind Northern Ireland with a game in hand, assuming that the Swedes, who have been clinical so far, dispatch their opponents just like they have done in their four previous matches. If so, they'll be five points ahead of their opponents, six points ahead of Spain, and eight points ahead of Denmark. Latvia should be too strong for Liechtenstein in the night's other match.
Group G
After Romania's draw in Rotterdam the group is still wide open, with three of the six matches between the top three teams having been drawn. Both Bulgaria and Romania should keep right on the heels of the Dutch with home games against Albania and Luxembourg. For the Dutch, Marco van Basten will be trying to work out why his in-form players produced such a sedated display on Saturday with only four shots on target during the 90 minutes against Romania, and of those not one really tested the goalkeeper. Slovenia isn't of the same standard as Romania, but tactically they'll probably play just like the Romanians did by sitting back and let the Dutch play and that will frustrate the Dutch. If the Dutch get a goal though, I expect the floodgates to open to release the frustration.
It might well be a night without any upsets, but if any upsets are to happen, it might just be the Scots or Slovenians getting a draw or a win, or the Slovakians winning away to Ireland who won't have their trusty Landsdowne Road beneath their feat.
