I've just seen the worst penalty decision ever. My god. Honestly, I can't remember a worst one.

Refs should be thrown into lower leagues if they make decisions like that.

More crowd violence, from Spurs fans this time :(

I don't want to shift the blame, but honestly, when was the last time there was crowd violence like this at a Premiership game? It's the same supporters going away to Europe as the Premiership, we don't have a problem dealing with them. I don't know if police are being too heavy handed or there aren't enough stewards or if fans who are pissed are being let into the grounds, but something isn't right.

EDIT: No one else watching? It's a good game, aside from the ref.

Yeah pretty good game so far. That penalty decision was an outrage though. Even from first viewing I thought it was a great block from Fatty Robinson. Tough break.

Oh good god. The ball comes off a Sevilla player and looks like it's probably heading for a throw, but just about reaches the corner flag and bounces off it for a Spurs corner.

The referee saw that. I saw him looking right at it, from about 20 yards away. But Alves argued about it and...I almost can't believe this...the ref did a drop ball in the corner instead! What the...what the hell! It was clearly a corner, but it's only ever a corner or a throw in, you can't just drop the ball!

I'm in shock at the incompetence.

Is Alves any good? He's a rumored Arsenal transfer target...

He's a target for Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea I think.

He hasn't really been anything special to be honest, but it is just one game.

Shame for Spurs, they easily matched Sevilla and should be going to WHL at 1-1.

Still, they've got a good chance of going through at 2-1.

Game over

Pachuca wins the CONCACAF semi final against Houston in over time (no away goals rule)

5-2 (5-4 Aggregate)

And advances against Chivas Guadalajara.

Winner goes to Japan

Nine Reasons we will stay up from some dude on t'internet.

Well what I thought was a two-week sojourn into the fantasy land of hope still has me in its grip. West Ham are still going down I tell myself but I am not sure that I quite believe any longer that this hope trip is nothing more than a temporarily absorbing distraction. This weekend I seriously acquainted myself with the Premiership predictor on the BBC site in which you can come up with a hundred different ways in which West Ham are staying up. I even got us in the top half of the table with one set of results. Certainly scrapping off terrible refereeing decisions and other teams’ rubbish performances might not seem like the basis for survival but getting by on the dregs can do strange things to an already deluded mind.

From my new perch beyond reality, the other teams in the relegation struggle should take note of the following:

1. Sure West Ham have to play Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United but 6 of our 26 points this season have come against these clubs.

2. West Ham were the last away team to win at Highbury so symmetry demands that they are the first to win at the Emirates

3. By the time Chelsea get to Upton Park, they will be in the middle of a fixture pile up, and it took them more than 90 minutes on Saturday to score against Watford.

4. Neil Warnock’s bravado is very unconvincing especially since his top scorer won’t play again this season.

5. Wigan are having no luck at the moment, and have Emile Heskey to score goals for them.

6. Aston Villa’s only win since 20 January was against us in the utter depth of our ineptitude when Curbishley still thought that Roy Carroll was a better goalkeeper than Rob Green.

7. Fulham have won once in the Premiership since 18 December, and they can’t play Newcastle again.

8. Newcastle haven’t scored in the Premiership since 10 February, and Glen Roeder is a crap manager who doesn’t seem to have noticed that they are only 6 points off the drop-zone with 21 left to play for, a fact which is not lost on their rather more mentally robust fans.

9. Charlton are staying up, and this is the point where I keep getting very stuck and will mean that when it is all over we will not be spared remembering every lurid detail about what happened to us this season.

Alves is one of the most exciting players in the game at the moment. He's been the driving force in Sevilla's challenge for the Primera Liga title, and the way he influences the game from right-back is just incredible. Absolutely awesome player, and I'm still utterly gutted at how Liverpool missed out on him by 1-2 mill pounds.

Not his best game against Spurs though.

I really don't get it. Feyenoord got taken out of the UEFA cup because some Dutch fanatics trashed Lille, even though Feyenoord warned the Lille police that this was about to happen and there was no way Feyenoord could've prevented it. But whenever this happens for a bigger name, like Valencia, Inter, ManU, Roma or Spurs, the UEFA just looks the other way. Where's the justice in that?

because the fans aren't actually to blame in these cases.

Most of the time the police have come out with their riot gear which is totally unecessary. They seem to take pleasure in rushing these fans and hitting them while they're cowering in fear for their lives. Seriously stupid policing.

UEFA have to take some blame, English fans have travelled all over Europe without problem, but when we go to certain spots theres always the same riot police and the same stories year after year of police brutality - but no one does anything aout it. Italy especially.

Doesn't help when UEFA blame English fans for trouble which isn't really their fault. Gives the police an excuse to bring out the riot gear and over-react.

Feyenoord wasn't to blame for what happened in Lille either, yet they got severely punished. UEFA basically said they had to make a point so that it wouldn't happen again. Same line of reasoning can be introduced here.

I'm not up on the Feyenoord incident, but all the Man U fans did was bang against a clear plastic wall which the Roma fans had already began to bang upon (the Roma fans later did it again, the utd fans did not). What about banging on a plastic wall should get us band/removed from Europe, the fact the police were so heavy has nothing to do with it, as the reaction did not match the event. We did in effect, nothing, and got a kicking for it. It is simply poor policing, if there had been police both sides the Roma fans would not have been able rush the walls, and thus our fans would not have rushed either. Easily avoidable.

I'm unaware of the specifics of the Feyernoord situation, didn't really follow it. I don't think any decision has been made by UEFA on the United/Spurs trouble yet though, it's too early to say they're not being punished.

This is stupid, Feyenoord played Nancy and were guilty of throwing chairs and trying to smash down the barriers. They were hooligans.

Man Utd fans were seperated from Roma fans not just by a perplex barrier but by a huge chunk of the terrace which was empty. Oh and those riot gear police on OUR side of the barrier.

To get to the perplex barrier the Roma fans had to get past security and run along the terrace towards the perplex barrier by the Man Utd fans, they started pounding on it and throwing stuff, Man Utd fans could do nothing but maybe hurl a few insults - but this dangerous clash caused by the roma fans breaching the barriers resulted in the police charging in - on the man utd side of the barrier.

they started to beat up anyone in their way, and continuously smash those who were already down. there was no retaliation from utd fans at all. no throwing chairs, no huge riot, no stampeding, they simply got laid into by police who had menacingly turned their truncheons upside down to cause more damage.

before and after the game, man utd fans had been attacked, punched, stabbed and basically abused by the "Ultras" and the police stood idly by and watched.

Don't forget just recently an Italian policeman had his face blown up and died, Italian football is a mess right now, and fans being abused by the italian police has been going on for years.

I dont know how you can possibly compare that situation with the feyenoord one. If anything its Roma who should be severely investigated, even while Man Utd fans were being beaten up by the police the Ultras kept banging on the barrier and throwing stuff over unattended. Man Utd have travelled all round Europe many times with very little trouble, we're interested in the football not in this weird fan fighting culture.

Man Utd even warned our fans about the Ultras and the bloody mayor of Rome comes out demanding an apology - well done, incite the Ultras even further and create more anger towards Man Utd why dont you.

I said back when it occurred that the Feyenoord decision was brutal...if it was a more prestigious club in the same set of circumstances they wouldn't have done shit, and they certainly wouldn't have booted them out of the competiton. And that's a fact.

**** UEFA...and for that matter, **** FIFA, and **** the police too.

Meanwhile the Mirror says Inter, Barca and Real Madrid are all lining up to make new bids for Mr Henry, believing that Arsenal no longer considers him untouchable and will field serious offers. I hope he stays...seems pretty ridiculous to sell him off after one injury-plauged campaign. But money talks in today's game, even more then skills.

Don't forget, there are a couple of Premiership matches on today, as it's Good Friday. Not very interesting ones (Man City v Charlton, Everton v Fulham), but you know, if you have nothing else to do.

I'll believe it when I see it. Looks like that information came to the Sun from Barca management - we've seen this song and dance before.

In CONCACAF Champions Cup news, Houston went down 5-2 to Pachuca in Mexico and went out 5-4 on aggregate. Crazy game with plenty of goals for the fans. Speaking of the fans, Pachuca didn't charge admission for the match to ensure there was a full stadium. MLS season starts this weekend.

Oh, and Wynalda got a one week suspension from ESPN for his comments earlier this week. Julie Foudy will be filling in. Blech.

what'd he say?

The UEFA site is garbage. Its all flashy and its impossible to find a decent match schedule. When are the return leg matches of the quarterfinals? Roma fans are going to get violated and the UEFA are going to suspend all MATCHES LAWL.

It's really not that hard, uefa.com then Champions League at the top, then fixtures and results in the middle and the dates are on the left hand side.

Anyway, they're this Tuesday/Wednesday. Tuesday for Roma.

I use this site to figure out what's on. Looks like they're showing ManU-Roma on ESPN2 (Tues) and Bayern-AC Milan on ESPN2 (Wed). The other two matches will be tape delayed on ESPN Classic just after the two matches I listed.

Fox Soccer Channel for the ones that ESPN2 doesn't pick up... but that's probably no help since I believe they are a digital channel. I can't live without them though... they cover all the Premier League matches live [and replayed again later] and the quality of the picture is amazing.

Setanta USA shows the game that ESPN isn't picking up.

For the record, this is how the games are scheduled in EST (also includes Canadian channels TSN and TLN).

TUESDAY

2:30pm ESPN2, RDS, TSN, UEFA Manchester United vs Roma

2:30pm ESPND, Setanta USA, Setanta-Broadband, TLN, UEFA Valencia vs Chelsea

WEDNESDAY

2:30pm ESPN2, RDS, TLN, TSN, UEFA Bayern Munich vs AC Milan

2:30pm ESPND, Setanta USA, UEFA Liverpool vs PSV

Wednesday's choice is pretty automatic...PSV would have to put in an Arsenal Carling Cup-type performance to make that tie even remotely interesting. The other matchups are fascinating though...each one could go either way.

I was wondering, do you people in America get to watch the Premiership saturday 15:00 (GMT) kick-off's live? I've always hated that none of them are shown here in the UK and was wondering if you are all in the same position. lol

From everything I've been able to gather, we see more free games over here than you. :lol Even just sitting at home on my own TV, I can catch three EPL games every Saturday (all in a row), plus a couple of Serie A games and even the odd French Liga game.

If I had the sports digital stations (think it's only ten bucks a month...I'm just too lazy to get 'em) I could also watch a few Bundesliga and Spanish Liga games as well. Setanta as a home channel is currently only available in the US, but it is available to view in bars up here.

So we're basically able to see seven to eight of the ten EPL matchups throughout the weekend for whatever you'd pay at the bar for drinks, with no added cost.

I think some EPL fans over here realize how good we've got it, but most would be stunned just how well we're looked after compared to how it is in England.

That's not even getting into the Godsend known as myp2p, which is the great worldwide equalizer even on this crappy PII 333 rig. :lol

Wednesday will be all about valencia-chelsea (psv lol), but I'm not really sure which game I should watch on tuesday.

Which one are you guys going to watch: manyoo or chelsea?

I'd like to watch Chelsea to see them go out, but I'm too scared that they are going through with their usual luck and then I'll be depressed the all night.

I guess I'll watch Man Utd.

yes we get to watch them live. in fact, we get to watch all the games from the premiership live (unless there is multiple games going at once, in which they play that one later). this is on Fox Soccer Channel. their coverage is amazing really.

where i live [Oklahoma, central time] they come on early Saturday morning. the first game starts at 9am. also, your night games come on here at 1:30 in the afternoon (like todays game). i believe you're about 5 hours ahead of us.

Probably United again, as I'm invested in the tie now.

I knew it'd bite us in the ass when those two were drawn to be shown at the same time, rather than one of them with Liverpool. Why do they have to be at the same time anyway, there are only 4 games a week at this stage, surely they can find times where they don't overlap. Then we could see all of them.

OMG. o.o;; We normally get two live games one before 3pm and one after..... We then get extended highlights of one game in the evening (8pmish) which is replayed throughout the night only shorter.... This is unless you have sky where you can select which match is played on the later showings..... This of course isn't exactly the same as watching a game live so when the team you support in being shown at 3pm (Arsenal vs West Ham tomorrow for example) you have to resort to things like Sopcast and well that's just not as good as the tv is it. lol Not to mention our pretty poor (compared to the rest of the world) broadband speeds. lol

There are of course options, but, I think 3pm games are not allowed to be shown to keep match attendences high..... Not that this would effect Arsenals attendence or anything.... >.> It's a bitch to get hold of Arsenal tickets as it is...... ; ;

I can't believe you have it that much better there. o.o;;

If I could get to more matches I wouldn't be saying this though. v.v;;;

(Sorry if this didn't make much sence, the baby is keeping me up..... It's 3am..... >.<)

Another thing I've heard that's just ridiculous...you'd have a far easier time getting tickets for say, Man U, Liverpool or Arsenal games if you were hooked up with their Canadian supporters clubs, then you would in England. If you want a ticket for a particular match bad enough and you go through the proper channels, you'll probably get that ticket (unless it's to one of the elite matchups like any of the big four playing each other). And you won't pay an arm and a leg for the tickets either.

I've heard stories of Man U fans in England joining up with the Canadian supporters club, just because it's so much easier to score tickets. :lol

Today's our match against Hannover 96. Hopefully we're goint to win it. At the moment Bayern we're on place 4. 6 points behind the first team (Schalke).

Go Roy & Piza!

Martin Jol has announced a HORRID Spurs line up against Chelsea, which begins in 10 minutes.

No Lennon and Keane, Berbatov on bench, Mido up front... they're screwed.

I don't blame him, they only played a day and a half ago. It'd be hard to say if the UEFA Cup or a high Premiership place is their priority, but if you're going to rest players it might as well be against a side probably going to beat you anyway.

Not what United fans would like to see though, especially with a potentially tricky away game at Portsmouth later.

Villa have to get something from Blackburn today. Really concerned we're going to get dragged down into the relegation struggle. Only problem is that Rovers are fighting for a Euro place. I hate April!

Apparently Carew isn't fit, which is good as he's looked dangerous to me.

Aston Villa haven't won in so long though that I'm practically certain we're going to lose.
