that's the one. He plays in Serie A now btw

Had a couple of very bad seasons, but seems to be coming back to his best again.

Wow. You guys are crazy - lots of posts here. We may hit 10,000 posts by the start of next season! :lol

I remember Manninger. He was a good keeper while he was at Arsenal. If it's hadareud you know that Austria will be involved on some level. :D

EDIT: Just watched the youtube clip, Wes. :lol :lol :lol :lol

So the chinese channel decided to cut out of the Pachuca Chivas game halfway during extra time.

Argh.

This appears to be the final result

Pachuca * [0 - 0] Guadalajara (Chivas)
penalty shoot-out : [7 - 6]

what can I say. It was 3 in the morning and I was watching Buffalo vs Rangers at the same time. I couldn't think clearly after all those questions, and subconsciously patriotism set in.

I like this quiz. Here are some questions and dont go on wikipedia oir anywhere else to find the answers. I'll give you the answers too. Once you've tried to answer them all say how many of them you got right

1) Where did andy cole start his career?

2) Which two players have been relegated with 4 different Premiership clubs?

3) Who has played in The Premiership, Divisions 1, 2 & 3, The Conference, The Champions League and the UEFA cup?

4) What player has played in the North London, Merseyside, Manchester derbies, has won the Premiership, FA Cup, Champions League and European Championship?

5) Name two players to have won the European Championship, Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League with their respective teams?

6) There are 22 different last names for a team out of the 92 in England (e.g. City, United). Name them.

7) Name a player to have won the Champions League, UEFA Cup, Premiership and FA Cup?

Ive taken away the answers, so you can try it now unless you've already seen the answers

I got most of them from a website, but I tried to answer them before I looked at the answers. I managed to get 1, 4 and 7 right. I only got one person right for question 5 and 15 out of 22 for the 6th question.

So many posts since the game!

Someone mentioned watching SopCast, it's great software isn't it, for those occasions you can't watch Sky. There's very little delay too, perhaps only a few minutes. If you have a firewall quite a few parts of the program ask for permission, I'd guess "SopCast Adver" is some kind of advertising agent so you best not let that through in case it's dodgy.

Chelsea deservedly in front. Wasn't expecting it to go quite so well for them.. now I'm actually looking forward to the second leg. But I fear their competitive game against Bolton could leave them much more tired than Liverpool who will rest their players in the league match.

This is where you have to point the finger at someone at chelsea for not making the squad big enough. Chelsea have suffered because of injuries and a very congested fixture list, but they should have put those things in mind during the transfer windows. It looked like abramovich was to blame for not bringing in any defensive cover during january, but Im not sure who's fault it is in the summer. With the amount of moiney chelsea have got, they should be able to afford a squad big enough to cope with the amount of games they have to play.

I think they will cope, but you can tell the squad size is borderline for the number of games.

However one needs to think about it from the point of team spirit, I think the squad has been very much together and there's been no in-fighting and disillusioned players. Had we had another 6 big stars sitting on the bench or playing in the reserves I'm sure there would be bad feeling and it would affect Chelsea's performances to some degree.

West ham could have points deducted because of the tevez & mascherano deals. Personally id like to see it happen, not because they broke the rules, but because I want them to be relegated before United have to play them. West Ham shouldnt be a problem at home, but if they are fighting for relegation, they're going to be desperate to win and its going to make things harder for us.

I will do a few at a time, I didn't look - even though I was extremely tempted.

Let's start with this one, I wonder how many I can get.

I can't think of any more, this is really difficult.

7) Name a player to have won the Champions League, UEFA Cup, Premiership and FA Cup?
The only one that comes to mind is Anelka, though I don't know if he's won the UEFA Cup

edit: Kanu might have as well, again, not sure about the UEFA Cup.

5) Name two players to have won the European Championship, Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League with their respective teams?

Is this the Euro, or the UEFA cup?

Bayern is interested in Klose. They already had a meeting with him. Sounds good!

Yo Blaburn, what's going on with Makaay at Bayern? Is he supposed to leave too, or will he stay? PSV has already stated that they want to buy Makaay, and Makaay himself would apparently be interested.

PSV could use a good finisher like Makaay.

Also, have there been any rumours in German media about a possible move bij Hofland (Wolfsburg) to PSV? Apparently, using the webster-ruling, he could leave for as little as 1,5 million Euro.

Sheva seemed to be unhappy, but everyday yopu heard a different rumour. Sheva doesnt seem to be the type that would cause problems, such as complaining to abramovich. He's been frustrated at times, but I think that he's one of those players that keeps trying and focuses on his football instead of sulking and causing problems

Even if chelsea signed regular players instead of stars, they're going to be unhappy at sitting on the bench. I can understand why mourinho prefers a smaller squad. He'll have less players complaining about playing regularly and Im sure he would prefer not having to cope with that; he's got enough problems already. Mourinho likes having a small squad because he knows that he can unify them and create a strong-headed and motivated team. He's done that with the current chelsea squad. Chelsea have got a lot of late goals and although its frustrating to watch, its a sign that the team spirit doesnt die and that they'll always carry on fighting.

However, you've still got to question some of the decisions that have been made. Selling gallas and Huth were a mistake. if they were at the club they would have made a big differece when Chelsea had the defence injury crisis. Its also strange that abramovich didnt let mourinho sign a defender during january. Mourinho might have spent a lot already, but he was in a situation where bringing in a new defender was very important.

There are some wierd ones included in the list I found. Its a difficult question to answer

It is kanu. he won the UEFA cup with Inter Milan

Speaking about the new season, should we start a new thread once the Champions league final is played so we can discuss the summer transfers and the games during the summer in a new thread or should we just carry on using this one?

Infact it would be quite good to use this thread for next season just so we can get closer to having the biggest thread at gaf.

cool. I actually just remembered that Liverpool haven't won the premiership :lol . So Hamann is out.

Let's think again.

5) Name two players to have won the European Championship, Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League with their respective teams?

Schmeichel won the Euro 92 with Denmark and all the rest with Manu. I remember my dad telling me before the tournament started that Schmeichel was one of the worst keepers he had ever seen. He saw some youth competition game with Schmeichel a few years earlier somewhere.

I can't think of the second one - he has to be German, French or Danish, Dutch is out of the question I suppose.

edit: actually, it has to be a Man Utd player. Can't believe I can't think of it.

edit2: screw that, actually, it has to be Anelka, thinking about it.

Schmeichel & Anelka are my answers then.

Some more:-

End
Alexandra
Vale

Which makes 19

4 to get!

Some old conference sides no doubt! Redbridge?

I didn't watch the post game interviews yesterday, with all the kaizoku and quiz drama unfolding here - but I just did.

Mourinho is starting to lose his mind.

ok, so far this is which one's you've got

City
United
Forest
Hotspurs
Athletic
Albion
County
Rovers
Rangers
Wanderers
Palace
Town
Argyle
Wednesday
Villa
Orient
End
Alexandra
Vale
Stanley

2 more to go. They're difficult.

22 needed right?

Kidderminster Harriers??

you're on fire had. One more to go

You were right about schmeichel and anelka too.

And you're right with question 7 too.

Once you get the last team, you still have to answer the following questions

1) Where did andy cole start his career?

2) Which two players have been relegated with 4 different Premiership clubs?

Once you get those I'll post some harder ones.

That was a mistake I agree.

Gallas was one of my most highly rated players but he moaned constantly, every season, and I think the club started to tire of his attitude. I liked Huth too but he has struggled with injuries and he wasn't going to stay when he wasn't getting picked. I've not been a fan of Carvalho but lately he's been more reliable. Keeping Gallas or Huth would have been preferable and I think Chelsea will sign a new defender for next season.

I think there is a team that is called Spartans or Spartas or something like that.

that's just a thing you get with Gallas, he likes to complain. As long as he is not insulting somebody while playing to his best I have no problem with that. I very much hope he stays at Arsenal btw, those rumours are slightly concerning.

I'll post some more questions. These one's shouldnt be too difficult

Can you name 3 players who have won the Premiership with one club and the old first division with another?

Which 3 British players have won the European Cup whilst playing for a foreign (Non-British) team ?

Apart from David Seaman, who is the only player to have featured in the England squads for:
Euro 96,
France 98,
Euro 2000 and
Japan/South Korea 2002??

You know, I'm pretty sure there are only 21 last names in the league at the moment. I've done this question a while ago and there were 22, but Rushden & Diamonds were relegated to the conference last year and I don't think any interesting last name was promoted.

Which 3 British players have won the European Cup whilst playing for a foreign (Non-British) team ?
Hargreaves, McManaman

Apart from David Seaman, who is the only player to have featured in the England squads for:
Euro 96,
France 98,
Euro 2000 and
Japan/South Korea 2002??

Campbell?

No mama, there are 22, you're still missing one.

I'll give you a clue. I think they are a league one side.
