I just saw brief highlights of the chelsea game and they were very unlucky not to be given a penalty. The bolton player clearly handballed it and chelsea got nothing.

I did so much screaming, laughing and jumping around like an idiot that Im tired just by watching the game. This has pretty much clinched the title.

excellent, I didn't see that.

I can't wait for Mourinho's interview.

You and me both... Now all I need is Sri Lanka to defeat Australia in Cricket World Cup and we have one of the best weekends ever. :)

The funny thing Mama is that Chelsa still scored two goals. What's amazing is that they conceded two goals, and at home no less. I bet the last time they conceded two in the same match was that loss at Anfield back in January. So it could be argued that their defense ultimately cost them the title today, though I haven't seen the goals yet (they're gonna show it here now though...the last five minutes is going to make for hilarious viewing :lol).

But yeah, the strategy to leave both players on the bench made no sense at all...it's an incredibly conservative approach, at a time of year when you can't afford to be conservative. And it probably put a bit more pressure on the defense than was neccessary.

Man, what a wild day...I wish I'd caught these games at the bar, but 7:30am is a little too early for such things.

Alright, let's have a look at the run in. Seems strange to be able to do this so early in the weekend:

1 Man Utd 35 56 85
2 Chelsea 35 40 80

I think we're all aware that United's goal differecne effectively puts them 6 points clear, so Chelsea need to gain two wins over their rival.

Man Utd

A Man City
A Chelsea
H West Ham

Chelsea

A Arsenal
H Man Utd
A Everton

Even if we say Chelsea beat Man Utd, which is far from a foregone conclusion, their fixtures are much harder. They're just harder anyway, but being away to both sides while United have a game at home really just turns the screw.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's all over though. Arsenal away is really difficult, but Chelsea can win that game. At the same time, Man City would love nothing more than to stop their hated rivals winning the league, and they'd hate nothing more than United winning the title on their own ground. Local derbies are always unpredictable...so a Man City win and a Chelsea win and the race is back on.

It's still massively in United's favour of course.

Now all that needs to happen is chelsea losing to arsenal and us celebrating winning the title infront of man city fans, us beating chelsea in the final of the FA cup, getting to the final to face Liverpool and seeing gary neville score a last minute goal against the scousers to wrap up the treble.

As I understand it Carvalho went off injured which wouldn't have helped, but *looks at United defence* yeah, there's no excuse.

I hear ya, when I got up for the game the sun wasn't even out yet... My neighbors must think I've gone insane.

The goals were a result of sloppy defending by chelsea. the first goal was really scarappy; it could have gone anywhere i guess, but the second goal was tragic defending.

I think what defined the last couple of games is that even if our patchy defense lets in a few goals, our fantastic attackers will ensure that we get more goals than the opposition have scored.

Its so strange how things changed during that game

Stubbs goal meant that thre was a 2 point gap between united and chelsea

michaliks goal meant that there was a 3 point gap

Kalou's goal narrowed the gap back to 2 points

His second goal meant chelsea had equalled man utd on points

fernandes goal didnt change anything

davies goal put the points difference back to 2

o'shea's goal did nothing other than give us a chance of getting something out of the game

neville's own goal put the points difference back to 3

Rooney's goal increased it to five

eagles goal secured the 5 points difference.

:lol :lol :lol I certainly like the Arsenal part...being the team that OFFICIALLY ends Chelsea's run as champions would frankly make this entire season worthwhile.

Man...I sounded like a Spurs fan. Ah well.

Just to give you some perspective for the run in, Man U needs 4 points from a possible 9. I agree, the City win will be almost impossible (Man City's been United's toughest opponent for years now), and West Ham has had a habit of playing the top teams well, but I think that game is a win for Man U. Which leaves the Chelsea/Man U game, which is too volatile for me to predict. On the flip side, Chelsea's got an Arsenal team that would love nothing more than to piss on Chelsea's parade, and Everton will be playing to secure a UEFA Cup spot since that race is incredibly tight. So neither team has it particularly easy.

:lol @ Chelsea fans celebrating Everton going 1-0 up on Man U...they must've felt like shit afterwards.

Its frustrating for the fans. This season we've become used to having such a stable defence, but injuries have shaken things up dramatically. We're in a proper injury crisis, but we've managed to deal with it well thanks to how good our attack has been.

Its important to remember that chelsea can still win it. We've got to make sure that we beat city next week. Infact we could win the title next week if arsenal can beat chelsea and we beat city. if we beat city and chelsea draw with arsenal then we've won it too.

Actually your opposition scored as many as you today.

Just not in the right net.

Next week is going to be wierd. Despite the rivalry between arsenal and United, us united fans are going to supporting arsenal like we support united. Arsenal could decide the fate of our season.

If you beat City and Chelsea draw with Arsenal, you'll be 7 points clear and win it that day.

Came back from playing tennis and it was 2-0 Everton, 2-2 at Chelsea. My mate thought Man Utd had blown it but I said "No no. Just wait. O'Shea will score a fluke. Ronaldo will get a header." So I was close with two of them!

How funny was Eagles' goal? The commentator was like "and...er... *checks teamsheet* Eagles is through on goal!!!" He almost fell over too but it was a darn nice finish. Shame about the hairstyle though :lol

For three months I've looked at the Arsenal/Chelsea fixture as the game that decides the title. And that could be the case as long as you guys can beat City. I'm gonna try and get some Man U fans to watch the game at the bar to help cheer us on. :lol

:lol @ Bolton's first goal...pretty sloppy. The Chelsea equalizer was class though, typical of them really.

BTW, any thoughts about fat ****...er, big Sam possibly quitting as Bolton manager at season's end?

What did he say?
nothing special really, "it's not over till it's over" sort of stuff.
He was told that the hands was apparently outside the box.

I expected outrage and maybe a small punch up.

We stopped Chelsea from winning and went over Everton in the standings at the same time! What a great way to start the weekend.

BTW Shinobi, the home opener for Toronto is today but I noticed it's at 12:30. What's up with that?

I can see him going to newcastle. They've got a great squad and as long as shepard carries on giving the manager the funds to buy good players, then all they need is a good manager. Allardyce would be a good choice, I reckon after a couple of seasons he could really make them CL place contenders.

He's right about that. Today was a massive win but we cant get complacent. There's still work that needs to be done.

Actually, Man Utd are playing City on the Saturday, Chelsea are at Arsenal on the Sunday.

So you won't be able to win at City's ground, even if you win and Chelsea don't. You'll just find out the next day.

Here's how things could pan out next weekend:

Man Utd win, Chelsea win / Man Utd draw, Chelsea draw / Mon Utd lose, Chelsea lose - 5 points clear, Chelsea would have to win their final two and United would have to lose their final two

Man Utd win, Chelsea draw - 7 points clear, title won

Man Utd win, Chelsea lose - 8 points clear, title won

Man Utd draw, Chelsea win - 3 points clear, Chelsea need United to not win another game (against themselves of West Ham), or they've won the title

Man Utd draw, Chelsea lose - 6 points clear, title won unless Chelsea can score at least 18 more goals than Man Utd in the final 2 games, which they can't

Man Utd lose, Chelsea win - 2 points clear, if either team can win their remaining games, they'll be Champions

Man Utd lose, Chelsea draw - 4 points clear, United need to win once

Is anyone watching Liverpool? Zenden hit an amazing shot against the bar.

Liverpool are basically playign a reserve team, which is understandable. They're in the CL next year, they can't make second, so there's really nothing to play for in the Premiership. Their season's over if they don't go through in Europe this week, so they're resting almost everyone.

I'm watching Wigan - West Ham.

West Ham should be up by at least 2 if not 3. Wigan look like a side going down at the moment, of course one goal could change it all.

btw, today's results mean that Arsenal have officially secured a CL spot.

1549: But what news from the big one at the City of Manchester Stadium? Villa keeper Thomas Sorensen comes out to claim a corner and collides with Darius Vassell. Mark Halsey points to the spot but Joey Barton blasts the penalty disastrously over. Howls of derision all round and City still haven't scored at home in the league since New Year's Day.

WTF? How depressing for their fans. I guess they;ve saved up all their goals for United next week.

It's quite strange, after the match Murinho didn't look too disappointed at all, in fact he went over and hugged big Sam. I wonder how his talk with Abramovich went...maybe they've resolved their differences?

I recall not too long ago supporting Leeds for a day against Arsenal. Leeds won 3-2 we won the league :D Thank you Smith and Viduka.

Saha wasn't on the bench again today for United, despite reportedly being fit.

I really think he's going to be sold this summer. I don't think United have a problem with his quality and there's been no big Ferguson row like there normally is when a major United player leaves, I think they've just lost patience with his injuries.

Apart from Arsenal, I reckon every team in the Premiership would benefit from having him. He'd be great up front for Chelsea, Liverpool need a goalscorer...and obviously the rest of the league could do with players of his quality. Obviously the reason they might not buy, aside from cost, is the same reason United might sell him...his injury problems.

I don't think it'd just be Premiership teams in the hunt though. I could see the top Spanish teams sniffing around and my personal favourite to grab him...Lyon. They don't have a top goalscorer, they have a lot of money to spend, they're in the CL and he'd be going back to France.

And unless it was a part-exchange for someone like Berbatov, United would then have to use the money for Saha to pick up another forward. If they can't get the top quality, at the very least they should be able to pick up someone like Defoe for about £10m.

Currently switching between Bayern - Hamburg and Boro Spuds. Bayern are losing 2:1 - at home! No CL this year I'm afraid...

Whilst West Ham have more interesting players than Wigan, the latter do have quite a few so I wouldn't mind if they went down.

However, with West Ham having Bolton and Man Utd after this and a really bad goal difference...it might all be in vain.

Great fight though.
