Did we just double our 'goals from midfield' count Mama?

I agree we are still screwed though, we 100% have to beat Bolton and then (assuming Charlton lose today) Fulham or Wigan have to lose both their games, and Wigan have Shef Utd next week who will be (realistically) safe if they win today

Whilst West Ham have more interesting players than Wigan, the latter do have quite a few so I wouldn't mind if they went down.

However, with West Ham having Bolton and Man Utd after this and a really bad goal difference...it might all be in vain.

Great fight though.

You do realize there's a possibility Man U will field a reserve team - if they win the league beforehand. Personally, I think there's a fair chance Hammers will stay up.

I think Fulham is in a really bad position now btw. I don't think they'll make more than 1 point from their remaining fixtures.

I wouldnt mind betting that if you put the following on a piece of paper:

EPL
Champions League
FA Cup
Send West Ham Down

And asked Fergie to order them, West Ham wouldnt come bottom. Mama remembers why.

I hadn't thought of that. You'd definitely have the FA Cup coming up and possibly the CL too, so it'd make sense to rest players.

That's still quite a bit to hope for though. Hoping Wigan do worst and their games aren't that hard, hope Man Utd have wrapped up the title already, hope that they then play a reserve team and then hope that Man Utd's reserve team aren't still better than them, which I'm not certain of.

Plus those United reserves could be playing for their future at United in that game, so they might even be hungrier than the firts team would be in their place.

I can only assume you're referring to the extreme unlikelihood of trebles, Ghost?

Otherwise, despite your faith...I've forgotten!

We stopped Chelsea from winning and went over Everton in the standings at the same time! What a great way to start the weekend.

BTW Shinobi, the home opener for Toronto is today but I noticed it's at 12:30. What's up with that?

Not sure really, but it works out for the numerous Liverpool, Man U and Arsenal fans in town, since it doesn't conflict with their matches. :lol Arsenal's last three matches are on Sunday, so there's no conflict at all on my end if I wanted to scoop up a ticket.

Actually I think the reason is that CBC (who's gonna air most of the Toronto FC games) is showing at least two NHL playoff games later today, so the TFC game gets shown early in the day to accomodate them. Most of the home kick off times will be at 3:30pm or 7pm for the weeknight matches, though there is a 1pm Sunday kickoff against Dallas in mid June.

The buzz for this team has been outstanding so far...hopefully they can at least score a goal today. :lol

Oh I remember...I remember! :D

I just don't think it's the priority!

Maloney scores for Villa. 2-0. Told you Villa would win at City :lol :lol

Oh and Wigan 0 - 3 West Ham now :)

I hope they at least score today as well just for the fans who have already shown that they love this team. Plus, I don't want anybody close to the Red Bulls in the standings so Kansas City better lose.

Oh, and Keane scored for Spurs.

Did Blackburn just score 3 in 6 minutes?

Leeds have 5 minutes to score again to stop being relegated.

Edit: Got that wrong. Depends on the Hull result too.

Oooooh, I completely misunderstood that list! I thought you meant if Ferguson was listing the most likely, not the ones he'd most like to see. That makes more sense...man, I should really be supporting West ham's attempts to stay up.

Ok, change of tack...I really want...ermm...Kirkland? McBride? Down Wigan! Down Fulham! Hurrah West Ham!

Did Blackburn just score 3 in 6 minutes?

Yes, we're awesome.

yep @ both questions. we need some new players -.-

You've got Toni now, and perhaps also Klose and Robben, and Vd Vaart. I wouldn't worry too much. ;)

Anyway, what's going on with Makaay at Bayern? Is he supposed to leave too, or will he stay? PSV has already stated that they want to buy Makaay, and Makaay himself would apparently be interested.

PSV could use a good finisher like Makaay.

Also, have there been any rumours in German media about a possible move bij Hofland (Wolfsburg) to PSV? Apparently, using the webster-ruling, he could leave for as little as 1,5 million Euro.

Leeds fans are staging a sit-in (on the pitch) so they dont get relegated.

i'm absolutely thrilled that it's us that might be responsible for putting them down. THRILLED.

Actually at the Leeds match the Referee wants the teams to come back. There is 30 seconds still left to play. They got interrupted by a pitch invasion and the players thought it was the end. :lol

The players are coming back out now.

15 Sheff Utd----36----/-19----38
16 Fulham-------35---/-19-----36
17 Wigan--------36----/-22 ---35
//////////////////////////////////////
18 West Ham---36----/-27-----35
19 Charlton-----36----/-24-----33

Sheff Utd

A Villa
H Wigan

Fulham

A Arsenal
H Liverpool
A Middlesbrough

Wigan

A Middlesbrough
H Sheff Utd

West Ham

H Bolton
A Man Utd

Charlton

A Tottenham
H Liverpool

Difficulty based on league positions:

West Ham 3
Charlton 5.5
Fulham 7*
Sheff Utd 14
Wigan 14.5

Difficulty based on stats:

Fulham 13 20 67**
Charlton 13.5 21.5 65
West Ham 17 18 65
Sheff Utd 31 27 42
Wigan 34 25 41

*After Fulham's game in hand tomorrow, 8.5

**After Fulham's game in hand tomorrow, 16 22 62

Charlton are basically down, it'll be really hard for West Ham to make it.

It's perfectly possible. Wigan might have the easiest games, but they're only relatively easy, they're still against better teams than themselves. It wouldn't be a surprise if they lost both...it's just whether West Ham/Charlton can avoid losing both or not as they're in the same position.

Wouldn't mind if Charlton went down really. Would mean Villa will try to poach Darren Bent.
If it's Wigan, we'll have Leighton Baines :D

I think all West Ham need is 3 points, and a home win against Bolton is certainly not out of the question in their current form.

As things stand I think that's how many points the teams involved will get from their last games:

Fulham 1
Wigan 3
West Ham 3
Charlton 1

which would mean that West Ham stay up while Fulham and Charlton go down. I don't think West Ham even need to get something at Man Utd for that to happen.

Guess I picked the wrong morning to sleep through all the matches in a tequila-induced haze. :lol
that's the advantage of living in the UK. I slept till 12.30 and still saw all the games.

it'll be really hard for West Ham to make it.

with United involved in so many other tournaments, and with the league probably already wrapped up - they might well rest a number of players.

West Ham might be playing Man Utd at the best possible time.

Leeds game is over now... barring any 5-0 Leeds wins coupled with a Hull 5-0 defeat, then they are donw....

Leeds also need to win (well THRASH) away to Derby - never an easy fixture.

BREAKING NEWS

Craig Bellamy confirmed in an interview before the match today to BBC Wales that he is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.

Everton can have Nugent, you can have Defoe or Mido or something, and we can have Bellamy.

Everyone's a winner!

Mainly us.

Mido :lol

It's a shame to see the guy leave, he's a fantastic player IMO, but he's not getting on with Rafa at all. They don't talk to each other.

Well he's played under both O'Neill and Hughes, so that's no real advantage to either. I just hope he remembers where he had his best season and where he was happiest, unlike at Newcastle and Liverpool. That's our advantage.

Villa's advantage is probably that they're a bigger club with a bigger fanbase.
