Looks like West Ham are getting screwed in the transfer market again, exact same thing happened this time last year, Pardew dithering over who to sign, moaning for weeks that we need another wide player, continuing to chase Malbranque even though he rejected us back in June, and ending up without the player he said he needs.

Still Matty Etherington will be back for us after the internationals so it might become a non-issue again if he stays fit. Not that i really rate etherington but he does the job we need doing.

Our squad is razor thin though, even with the new signings, i was looking through the reserve teamsheet last night and other than Robert Green and a couple of the youth players my reaction was "who's that?"

It is a bit worrying to see Bolton, Boro, Villa & Pompey all potentially pushing to the next level with their signings.
http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx...id=2&title=HAMMERS+TO+LAND+TEVEZ+&+MASCHERANO

holy crap!

Holy ****ing Shit. That came out of nowhere. Its difficult to believe its true at the moment, if west ham really did sign both tevez and maschernano it would be ****ing unbelievable.

Im not too upset about missing out on them. We didnt need tevez because we already have 4 strikers. Rooney, Saha and Smith are all just as capable if not better than tevez is. Maschernano didnt impress me at the world cup so I dont think its such a bad thing to have missed out on him. Our midfield might not be the strongest, but last year we were the second best team in england with a midfield that consited of john o'shea and gigs in the centre, so its goiung to be a lot better now that we have scholes and carrick. Id rather see United avoid buying south american players because I dont want to see us waste our money like we did on veron and kleberson

It is somewhat of a coincidence that MSI (Media company) are involved, they own the two players, they were the company linked with buying West Ham last year. They couldnt agree a value for the club back then.

If this happens its almost certainly a sign that the deal is back on.

Cant believe none of the news stories so far have picked up on the MSI link.

i dont know about this, there are so many different places quoting different things about Tevez.

Telegraph say he's a Man Utd player, The Sun reckon they are both going to Arsenal and of course BBC say to West Ham Utd, i know the BBC are more reliable than the others but i reckon this is not the end of it lol

All i hope is that Reyes gets outta here before 12pm tonight

skysports and soccernet are also reporting that tevez and mascherano are heading to west ham. Its probably true if so many places are reporting it.

The word on the net now is that this is all a big Roman conspiracy (MSI & Roman rumours have been doing the rounds for years) and the two will end up at chelsea when their loans finish (unless we cripple them).

I prefer my theory :'(

Still theres worse teams to be a feeder club for than Chelsea. Maybe they noticed our last game of the season is Man U and decided we needed a hand :D

hey man doesnt matter about who gets them after, this season could potentially get you further up the table!

i have a soft spot for West Ham although being a Gooner, i just like the team and the fans plus that FA Cup Final last season was amazing due to West Ham, all i hope is that this isnt a Chelski deal, i really hope it isnt.

Andy Cole has just signed for Pompey.

I guess the chances of Cole staying and Gallas still coming are pretty slim. I'm still hoping though.

At least it seems we got rid of Reyes, with Baptista plus 2 million coming to Highbury. Not too bad.

coming to Highbury?

lol you know i made the mistake of heading towards Highbury for the Villa game, and was wondering why everyone was walking the other way? then saw a massive stadium and realised :lol

lets just hope Jose doesnt pull a Vieira and stay after all this mess, but yes i hope Cole stays now after watching Hoyte at Man City *cringe*

yeah, constantly happens to me. It was very odd walking past Highbury to the Emirates for the first time. Hopefully I will do better next week with the 'boro game :D

I presume you were reading this article:
http://stateofthegame.co.uk/2006/08/31/something-fishy-tevez-mascherano-west-ham-united/

"My suspicions lead me to a somewhat shadier deal being cooked up between the players’ club Corinthians, their owners MSI and another club with shady links to MSI and their owners. It’s long been rumoured that Roman Abramovich is the money man behind MSI and the reason that a broke Brazilian club like Corinthians could afford players like Tevez and Mascherano in the first place. It leaves no doubt in my mind that Chelsea and Roman are behind this proposed season long loan deal for the two Argentinians to West Ham and it’s only for one purpose - to acclimatise the players to London and the Premiership and see whether they are worth signing for Chelsea properly next summer."

I read a rumour last night that Tevez and Mascherano might head to one of the smaller teams on loan rather than one of the bigger ones, though it suggested Porftsmouth might be the destination.

Great deals for West Ham if it turns out true. It does appear to be a case of proving to bigger clubs that these two South Americans are able to compete in the Premiership and therefore justify the high fees they're wanted for....but I doubt West Ham give a crap.

Wee bit worried about teams moving past Blackburn with their transfers. I look at Middlesbrough getting Woodgate and Huth, West Ham with the above, Villa with Petrov and Milner (and who knows who else), Portsmouth with Fernandes, Cole and Kranjcar, Bolton with Anelka, Newcastle with Martins, Rossi and they're apparently still chasing Viduka (buy a defenderd ****tards!)...and how can I not worry?

Sure, there are plenty of teams left who don't appear to be bringing themselves up to another level, but all that does is mean we probably won't be relegated. I want more than that, I won't be happy if we finish outside the top half.

We are still in the hunt for players. There's a Roma striker called Shabani Nonda who we might be buying (or getting on loan). I'd never heard of him, but he looks like he could be pretty good from his stats. He hasn't played much in his only year at Roma, probably just because better strikers are ahead of him, but he has still scored 5 in 8 starts (11 subs). Before that he was at Monaco and seemed to have a couple of bad years in terms of appearances (not sure if he was injured or just dropped), but his goalscoring rate was still decent when he did play. For the two seasons before them he scored 40 goals in 58 games for them.

We're also after an Egyptian centre back called Wael Gomaa, though he's trained with Newcastle and we know how badly they need defenders so that one probably won't happen. There's yet another Egyptian called Amr Zaki (with Mido I can't imagine where out scouts have been this summer) who's a striker and rumoured a few days ago, though that one seems to have cooled. We still want Kristofer Haestad, a Norwegian midfielder, but we're far from alone in that with the likes of Man Utd and Bolton also watching him. We've beaten off bigger clubs before though with promises of actual playing time.

Finally, if Neill goes (it's rumoured Liverpool might meet our £4m valuation, god I love deadline day), we might just get....Mills.

Why the hell is Tevez and Mascherano going to West Ham?! Surely their wage request would be gigantic and could West Ham afford it?
That is such a huge coup for them. Chelsea, Arsenal and Man Utd must be feeling pretty raw right about now. although if it is just for a season long loan then I see it more as the opening of the gateway into the Premiership, with the big clubs making bids on them next year. They're probably just seeing if they can settle into life in Britain.

And now with Villa news! It looks like Saviola doesn't want anything to do with us, the fool. Looks like O'Neill will probably land Milner from Newcastle which would be good for us. Also we've been linked with Defoe and Malbranque, either of whom would be a great addition to our squad.

Is it just me or is the premiership looking to be awesome this year? :D

Not quite Tevez but this is at least official:

West Ham United have this morning completed the signing of Czech Republic under-17 international goalkeeper Marek Stech.

The Hammers have signed the highly-rated 16-year-old from Sparta Prague for an undisclosed fee.

The youngster is tipped by many as the greatest goalkeeping prospect in the Czech Republic since Petr Cech.

More details, plus exclusive reaction from Ludek Miklosko will follow shortly...

I could have sworn it said tevez when the page first loaded :(

Watching Sky Sports News on transfer day is so much fun!

Latest Update:

Viduka is not moving.
It was revealed by Middlesbrough that they couldn't contact the Chelsea chairman earlier (to talk about the Huth move) today because "he was on other business". Sounds like there could be some kind of movement in the Ashely Cole situation.
Malbranque has gone to Tottenham.

Malbranque has signed for Spurs.

Seriously. And to think, I was worried about a possible Premiership without Van Nistelrooy or Henry a few months ago.

I'm trying to think of big players who have left the Premiership this year. The only ones I can come up with have either retired and were already on their way out last year, weren't that good anyway or are in the twilight years of their careers. You know, Bergkamp, Pires, Shearer...even Van Nistelrooy isn't as good as he was, it's not just Ferguson who thins so, he seems to be out of the reckoning for the Dutch squad.

I suppose you could make a case for Crespo, Gudjohnsen and Del Horno, but they're still completely overwhelmed by the players being brought in. Rosicky, Petrov, McCarthy, Ooijer, Anelka, Ballack, Boulahrouz, Obi Mikel, Kalou, Shevchenko, Kuyt, Woodgate, Martins, Fernandes, Berbatov, Zakora, Tevez, Mascherano...this must be the strongest Premiership ever.

And that's only transfers, clubs like Portsmouth and Villa now have new backers and good managers, even the promoted sides seem strong (for promoted sides)...amazing.

we aren't gonna buy anyone I just know it...

Can't believe tevez and mascherano are going to West Ham. At least it isn't Arsenal, as first feared.

Im starting to think the Tevez thing is a huge mistake. Doesnt add up at all. Id love to be proved wrong though.

It's all got something to do with the group that represents them. It's a financial thing not a football thing from the looks of it.

Supposidly West Ham have an option to buy at the end of the loan but I can't see how they could afford even one of them.

well msi represent the 2 players, they supposidly have very close ties to Roman. 1 year at West Ham lets them see if they can adapt to the English game. After loan Chelsea buys them.

I dunno that i buy that theory, Chelsea could use Tevez now, even if it is a bit of a gamble, they've lost Crespo and Cole.

Plus although Roman has been linked with MSI, both sides have denied it and other sources have claimed that the Boris Berezovsky funds it, and he and Roman aint best palls.

MSI tried to buy West Ham, i dont think they would have even tried to do that if Roman was in control.

Just listening to Talksport radio, they are playing a clip from night where a guy from New York rang up and said his pal from Argentina had told him about Tevez and they laughed him off the air :lol

Spokesman for WH has said that it is happening, but its subject to work permits, so they cant say anymore untill those are granted.

He didnt actually confirm it was the two Argies, just that something was happening.

They'll get permits, no problem.

Does anyone remember the rumour that Chelsea would wait until the last day to sign Cole at Arsenal's asking price, just so they wouldn't be able to spend that money right away? Seemed pretty petty and stupid at the time, but...maybe.

I wouldn't put it past them.

How is it stupid?

Its clever if anything?

Jason Euell is going to Middlesbrough.

Now they just need the Huth deal to go through, although I keep reading that if Chelsea don't get Cole then Jose is going to halt that deal just out of spite :lol

I thought the Huth deal was done between Chelsea and Boro, and they are just wating for Huth to sign his 40k a week contract?

Well this is what I read:

Guardian Unlimited: said:
"Apparently, the paperwork for Robert Huth's move needed Peter Kenyon's scrawl, but he hasn't been available to sign"

Because Kenyon is away trying to get the Cole - Gallas saga sorted before tonights deadline. He still could just not sign it and the deal would fall through I guess.

The Boro chairmen said the Huth deal isnt done because Kenyon 'isnt in the office to sign the agreement' a.k.a. he's ****ing around with Arsenal.

They'd either get £20m to spend now or in 5 months time, it's not going to make much difference. Wenger may even have felt forced to spend it now when many of the big names in positions they need have already been signed this summer, rather than wait for the right people. Now if it goes through he'll be forced to wait, which may well work out better for Arsenal in the end.

Plus it's just lame. Chelsea are that worried about Arsenal? Chelsea with their billions and able to outspend any other club on the planet are worried about Arsenal getting a measly £20m? Well then they'll be shitting themselves when they realise Arsenal's new stadium is expected to give them an extra £30m a year to spend on players over Highbury.

I think its more a case of...

"We at Chelsea, think you at Arsenal have been twats in this Cole transfer, thus, we're going to be difficult for you..."

That £20mill would probably have only been used to entice Tevez to Arsenal anyway and that looks like it's too late now.

I'm quite distressed to hear no news from Villa Park yet. I know Milner has been down there today to talk it out, but no announcements yet. Also O'Neill said he had another transfer lined up but no news about that either!

I got to say this is actually quite entertaining. Reminds me why I play Manager sims now. Speaking of which are you guys going to be picking up Football Manager 2006 around christmas time? I'm sensing a GAF league of epic proportions on the horizon :D

NO LOANS MOFOS! PERMANENT DEALS!

West Ham United are delighted to announce the double signing of Argentinian World Cup stars Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano from Brazilian club Corinthians.

The pair have been signed for an undisclosed fee and put pen to paper on permanent contracts with the Club this afternoon. All other aspects of the transfers will remain confidential and undisclosed.

The transfers represent a massive coup for the Hammers, who have beaten off some of Europe's biggest clubs to secure the services of the duo - both of whom played a key role for Argentina as they reached the World Cup quarter-finals in Germany this summer before losing to the hosts in a penalty shoot-out.

Tevez, 22, is widely regarded as one of the most talented young strikers in the world. Labelled by many as 'the new Diego Maradona', he began his career with Boca Juniors, making his debut at the age of 17 and going on to become a cult hero at the Bombonera Stadium.

The Argentine football writers voted him Footballer of the Year in 2003 and 2004, and also Sportsman of the Year in 2004, after he had led Boca to the Argentine championship and the Copa Libertadores.

In December 2004, Tevez moved to Corinthians in a $22.6million deal - the biggest ever in South American football. Initially, he wasn't well received in the country of Argentina's greatest rivals, but soon won the supporters over and became captain as the club secured the Brazilian championship in 2005.

He appeared in every one of Argentina's five games at the World Cup finals in June, scoring a goal in the memorable 6-0 victory over Serbia and Montenegro, and winning the man of the match award in the 0-0 draw with Holland. He currently has 25 full international caps to his name, and has scored four goals for his country.

Javier Mascherano, also 22, is a highly-rated defensive midfielder who earned rave reviews for his performances at the World Cup finals in the summer, when he provided the steely backbone behind Argentina's attacking style of play.

Like his good friend Tevez, Mascherano left an Argentinian club - River Plate, the great rivals of Boca Juniors - to join Corinthians in 2004, for a fee of $15million, and helped to play a key role in their title success last year.

With 20 caps for the national team, he is considered one of the county's hottest properties, and has also been linked with a number of top European clubs recently.

Both Carlos and Javier are currently in London preparing for Argentina's showcase friendly match against South American rivals Brazil at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium on Sunday and will be available for selection when Hammers return to Premiership action against Aston Villa next week.

Exclusive reaction from Alan Pardew and both players will follow here on whufc.com soon.

The players have now returned to the Argentinian national team camp and will not be available for any further interviews. West Ham United will make a further announcement later regarding the official unveiling of both players.

This is such an awesome day.

:lol

It's quite interesting to see how Lerner is showing much more interest in Villa than the Browns. Then again, you have to **** up real bad to lose money in the NFL.

:lol I don't believe it! There must be some sort of clauses in those contracts, something....crazy, like 100% of the fee if they're sold and being allowed to speak to any club who offers more than £10m or something. Otherwise, how could West Ham afford them? And why would they even go?

Maybe West Ham are about to be bought.

Im betting the transfer fee has been paid in WHUFC shares to MSI.

QFT. Seeing as they did try and take over the club not to long ago, this seems like a plausible option.

News just in:
Dwight Yorke gone to Sunderland (not that anyone cares).
