It is time to do battle in the Transfer window.

I wonder why they're selling him. Robben is their best winger. It seems chelsea wanted to keep him because they offered him a new contract, but there must have been some disagreement. Maybe robben feels that he isnt going to play much next season because of the 4-4-2 formation that chelsea used this season.

there's Arsenal news!!
Why food up the nose and tiger costumes make Eboue the funniest guy at the Emirates

Arsenal’s Emmanuel Adebayor has lifted the lid on the club’s real funnyman – his namesake Emmanuel Eboue. He told FourFourTwo magazine: "People who know me would say I’m a cool guy, always laughing and joking. But Emmanuel Eboue – he’s funnier than the funniest comedians on TV.

"Sometimes when he eats he puts food up his nose and when he met the Queen at Buckingham Palace he was on the floor playing with her corgis." But Eboue’s finest moment, says Adebayor, came at the same Christmas party where the famous dance with team mate Thierry Henry was conceived. "It was at Gilberto’s house. It wasn’t even a fancy dress party, but there was Eboue, dressed as a tiger – with a tail and everything – waiting for me behind the door. "When I arrived, he made a big noise like a tiger roaring. For a moment I was in a big panic but then I saw him and I thought, ‘Oh it’s only Eboue…'."

oh.

edit: where's Cornballer with our afternoon news update?

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon says they intend to report Real Madrid to Fifa over what they deem as an illegal approach for Arjen Robben.

Real supremo Ramon Calderon revealed on Thursday that he believed talks had taken place with Robben with a view to him moving to El Stantiago Bernabeu.

However, Chelsea have reacted angrily to Calderon's claims and insist that there are no official talks talking place with Real over Robben.

"We note that Mr Calderon confirms Real Madrid spoke to Arjen," said Kenyon.

"As a result Chelsea will be writing to Fifa to ask them to investigate an illegal approach by Real Madrid.

"There have been no meetings or conversations between the Real Madrid sporting director Predrag Mijatovic with any Chelsea officials, anyone mandated to act on Chelsea's behalf or owner Roman Abramovich about Arjen's future."

Whoops

Arsenal might be in the hunt for Yaya Toure according to the player's agent. from a highly reputable source:

"I am not exactly his representative. I am like a father for him. If I say to him that it makes a thing, it will do it"

"It puts the lotion in the bucket"

Good to see Beckham shutting his haters the **** up once again. I don't think people appreciate how ****ing good that first pass was. He hit it first time on the run and put it in the PERFECT position...no defender could get to it. It still required a great header from Crouch (who's proving he CAN use his head BTW), but he simply had no business having such a opportunity in the first place. The second pass was also pretty good, but that first pass simply made my jaw drop. Oh yeah, props to Joe Cole for his turn and volley effort too...England has really missed his services. Also good to see Owen getting a goal.

After that I went to see Toronto FC take on the New York Red Bulls. I actually bought this ticket at Ticketmaster in the morning, so I assume it's a bit easier to get some odd singles for weeknight games. It was a bit more then I wanted to pay, but it was hard to complain about the seat...it was literally right next to the TV cameras.

Anyway, we were dominant in the first half, scored a great goal with Andy Welsh setting up Cunningham for his first goal in a TFC uniform. But then the ref ****ed us over in the second half with a bullshit free kick. Of course Angel scores from it, though the goalie didn't do a good job positioning for it. And of course Angel scores again barely three minutes later (goalie had no chance there). The Red Bulls got showered with beer cups, which wasn't cool but reflected my feelings at the turn around. Then one of those Red Bull twats picked up one of the cups and threw it back into the crowd, which really pissed me off (think it was #21). Don't know how he didn't get a card for it to be honest. Anyway, another solid night and great atmosphere, but that ref pissed me off to no end.

After that I hit one of the nearby bars to watch both the Stanley Cup game (congrats to Anaheim...LOL @ Ottawa), and the Canada/Costa Rica Gold Cup match. All three goals in this match were just amazing efforts. Don't remember who got CR's goal, but Guzman's pair were excellent markers. After absorbing a bit of pressure we were able to dominante possession...looked like we were a lot fresher then Costa Rica, and they simply weren't able to respond in the closing stages. All in all, a good result for Canada.

As for Arsenal, I don't know why they've left it till the last minute to move in on Malouda. If they'd shown any early interest I reckon they could've stitched him up a week ago.

I love Egghead Magnusson, he's always got lots to say. Good stuff too.

Eggert Magnusson has revealed that he is extremely confident about keeping Carlos Tevez at West Ham United next season.

The United Chairman, speaking to SkySports this lunchtime also revealed that he and Alan Curbishley were looking to sign 'three quality players' during the summer.

"It takes time to build a side to reach the top six - it does not happen over night," he said. "But we will do it within a few years.

"Tevez has a contract with West Ham for three more years and I am confident he will be here next season.

"He's a great player, a great lad, everyone loves him around the club - and I think he'll be playing here next season.

"We are also hoping to bring in three more quality players. We want quality players, but for quality players you have to pay a price."

Magnusson also touched on the forthcoming arbitration hearing in which Sheffield United are due to challenge the Premer League's decision to fine United £5.5m.

"It's not for me to discuss the arbitration right now," he added.

"But I'll have a lot to say after it has finished."

Seems like he wants to verbal bitch slap Whelan & co, cant wait for that.

The theory on Tevez is that he'll be stuck in East London at least untill January because the Copa America goes on so long that the players will barely be back and training by August. I'll shed a tear the first time Ashton & Tevez take to the field together...it'll probably turn out shit now i've hyped it so much but i dont care.

Plus 3 quality signings, which i'd guess means Parker quality signings, Im thinking thats a left back, left/right winger (Richardson seems like a safe bet) and...? I guess we need another central midfielder but i hope that wont force Noble out of the team.

I would think if Jose wants money to be running around with, Robben is the winger to get rid of, since his first season here he has gone rapidly down hill in my estimations, he does what he does really well but he doesnt seem to have much in the bag when the defenders are wise to his moves.

I hope Arsenal dont get Yaya, he stood out (in a see of boring mediocrity) at the ACN 2 years ago.

LA galaxy are gonna be super-pissed this fall, Beckham will miss at least one domestic game for every england qualification match :lol

Even if he would, I don't think Spurs are willing to pay the asking price for a guy they'd probably use from the bench most of the time. I think they thought they could get him for about £12m.

Shame we don't have any Marseille supporters here, I bet they're mad as hell at Ribery. Claims he just wants CL football, Marseille get into the CL but he decides to leave anyway...for a club not even in the CL.

I mean, I'm sure they'll be back within a year, but it's a strange choice if any other big teams were bidding for him who were already there. I can only assume they didn't.

Let's see if Ribery is worth the money, I much rather have somebody else test the waters, 25 million Euros is too much. Should be an interesting new season for Bayern.

unfortunately in the uefa cup, but who cares. it's just one year.

You would have been able to afford him with the money you'll get from selling hnery...

:(

joking aside, affording him is no problem. The money we are getting in this summer from selling players is around 17 million alone.

So we would have not even have to touch any transfer budget.

The question is if he is worth that amount? I don't think he is, and I doubt Wenger does either ...

Can I get a Ribery mask for next Halloween?
Only if I can get a crouch mask, but I wouldnt need one if they make masks of timmy from south park, they look identical.

----Ribery---Schweinsteiger---Van Bommel----

great!!

Rumours in italy suggest that camoranesi could be on his way out of Juve. That could be a winger option for arsenal.

How is that going to work? Van Bommel doesn't play on the left side (at least not at PSV), and Makaay on the left side togeter with Toni and Podolski doesn't seem very realistic either.

What about Altintop and Sosa? They just there to warm the bench? ;)

And what's going on with Boulahrouz, is he still going to Bayern? Anyway, congratz with signing Toni and Ribery,.

Sorry, but as a group of fans, if you throw beer on an opponent, you lose the right to bitch if it gets thrown back at you. Nice atmosphere otherwise.

SOON THE MIGHTY BAYERN WILL BE CONQUERING THE FIELDS OF PLACES SUCH AS GREECE AND THE UKRAINE!

Arsenal dont actually need strengthening that much. I think that they do need a winger unless wenger plans on making eboue a right winger, which isnt such a bad idea because he's very good offensively. Its more of a matter of fiddling around with tactics and keeping everyone fit.

Henry wasnt fit for most of the year and any team will miss their main striker. Just imagine how chelsea would have done this season if drogba got a bad injury. If he stays fit next season and if he does stay at arsenal, which i think will happen, then arsenal have got someone capable of scoring easily. van persie's injury hurt the team, but you were already out of the title race before he got injured, but regardless of that, if arsenal can keep their strikers fit then they;ve got a strong up front.

The team as a whole need to take their chances. In most of the games arsenal lost, they were the better team and created so many more chances, but they just didnt finish them. Finsihing needs to be worked on and so does the mentality of the midfield players. Rosicky is more than capable of shooting from long range but he doesnt do it often enough. Cesc needs to be more confident and try to shoot from distace too.

I fully agree. The more I'm thinking of it the less I think we need players like Ribery, the only really good thing he would have brought is that it's a flashy, reassuring move. I doubt he would improve the team a lot. At least not 17 million worth.

An ugly guy on the right that's technically good and likes to cut to the middle and doesn't nearly score enough. Thanks, we already have one.

The only way to spend that kind of money is if somebody really special is available, there's not too many of them around. I can't think of anyone available at the moment.

Other than that, do smart business like usually, try to get somebody on a free, buy the odd young player and get a good winger that's not too expensive, no need to spend more than 10 million on one player if he's not somebody extraordinary, meaning one of the best in the world.

Ah, no Cannibal for you then? It's probably for the best. How about Ze Roberto, I heard he was coming back.

I think this formation could certainly work:

-----------------------Kahn----------------------

---Lahm-----------Lucio-----Ismael---Jansen

Ribery-----Van Bommel---Ze Roberto---Schweinsteiger

------------------Toni--------Makaay

Actually I agree with that (I defended Ron Artest after all :lol), but I was pissed at the way the game got taken away from us. That guy throwing the cup back into the crowd was just a smack in the face. But yeah, throwing shit like that onto the field is just ridiculous.

I did howl with laughter at the way the supporters section showered a Red Bull corner taker with crepe and toilet paper though...held the game up for almost a minute. :lol

XD

There is one good thing about his appearance. He isn't such a selfish soccer player like pizarro who focuses more on his look than on his soccer skills. last year, everytime when the camera showed pizarro was making his hair -.-
