I can't wait to see who Blackburn will lose to first game next season!

Hopefully a team we'd lose to anyway, and not West Ham or Portsmouth.

Man that 5-0 goal for Sweden was random.

The ball touches the arm of an Icelandic player in the box, so the Swedish players call out for a penalty but are (rightfully) refused it as it was unintentional. For some reason the Icelandic players think that they have been given a free kick, but alas. So a Swedish player (Rosenberg) gets a hold of the ball and passes it to the totally unchallenged Allbäck. Who then calmly flips the ball up and half-volleys it into the net. All while the Icelandic players are standing there gaping, wondering why the ref isn't penalizing the Swedish players for taking the ball.

Poor Iceland.

Wenger to 'av A Maria...
From a very reliable sauce, we finally have a story. In the barren, desert formerly known as the Arsenal news round up, we have a rumour, a proper one. Our man ITK has a mate, who actually told the interflap about Denilsons arrival last transfer window, and also called the Baptista transfer before anyone else, so believe what you will.

We're buying it, any road and he reckons that the same mate, has told him, before the end of next week, we'll be signing Ángel Di María from Argentinean side Rosario Central. Not a lot more than that is known, aside from Gilles Grimando has been in Argentina and has urged Wenger to make a bid. It's expected that Sir Wenger will make a move for the youngster as soon as he's back from his Italian holiday...

Watch this space, and you heard it here first! (for a change...)

I believe this news, annoying as the writing style may be.

I don't know anything about him, does our South American contingent have some insight on him?

Don't forget the European U21 Championship starts this Sunday, those thinking that's it until the friendlies start. And don't dismiss it, the last two England U21 games I watched were a 3-3 draw with Italy and a 5-0 demolition of Slovakia.

The teams involved are:

Group A

Belgium
Israel
Holland
Belgium

Group B

England
Italy
Serbia
Czech Republic

It's difficult to even qualify for the finals with only 8 teams, so hopefully the quality will be high. Shame England will be without Walcott and Agbonlahor.

it's such a pain without sky, I bet this will be on Eurosport. Hopefully I have Sky back soon, this is starting to piss me off.

I've been trying to find some youtube clips about this guy, but could only find full match summaries. That's too much for me.

Woohoo, PSV signed Danko Lazovic. First really big transfer this season for PSV.

img-150507-148.onlineBild.jpg

Lazovic is a 24 year old serbian striker that scored 21 goals for Vitesse last year. He's also a regular at the Serbian team these days. Very complete striker, certainly on par with the likes of Kone and Farfan. PSV apparently payed some 6 million Euro to get him.

Tomorrow I'll give a rundown on all the transfers PSV has made so far (some 6 players so far). And PSV still isn't done on the transfermarkt, we're still looking for 2-4 new players. :D

Apparently Freddy Shepherd has agreed to sell his shares in Newcastle to Mike Ashley, but will stay on as chairman only in a reduced role. The rumour is Ashley (who's a billionaire) will provide Allardyce with a £40m transfer budget.

Soccernet interview with Henry.
Soccernet said:
Henry slams Dein exit amid transfer talk
Dale Johnson

Speculation over the future of Thierry Henry will intensify after he slammed the exit of vice chairman David Dein, saying it 'wasn't a clever move' and he was 'devastated', while admitting he is flattered to be linked with a move to the likes of AC Milan.

In an exclusive interview with ESPNSoccernet Press Pass, the Arsenal skipper discussed his future at the Emirates amid talk of a move and bemoaned the loss of a man who, in tandem with manager Arsene Wenger, had been central to the Gunners success.

Dein left Arsenal earlier this year due to unreconcilable differences with the rest of the board, believed to surround the proposed investment from American businessman Stan Kroenke.

Henry was in no doubt about the effect of Dein's departure when pressed on his future following recent newspaper stories in which Carlo Ancelotti confirmed his interest.
Henry told ESPNSoccernet Press Pass: 'It's great to hear [being linked to AC Milan]. How can you not think that? On the other side as I said to you, and so many times at the moment, I'm an Arsenal player.

'Everybody knows that a lot of stuff happened at the club recently that wasn't supposed to happen. In terms of the departure of Mr Dein, the bosses have been unsettled and a lot of players have been unsettled in the club. So the only thing I can tell you is right now I'm an Arsenal player but hearing that is nice to hear, I can't deny it.

The Gunners' record goalscorer did not hide his disappointment at Dein's exit. He said: 'I was devastated. Everybody who knows Mr Dein, we know that the guy loves football. He knew everybody at the stadium, the name of everybody and I mean everybody at the club, whether you play for the youth team or you clean the dressing room - he knew everybody.

'He's the type of guy who used to turn up raining, snowing, windy, to watch the under-17s, the under-19s, the reserves - everybody - on his own at the training ground and one person that I wouldn't have liked to leave the board, would have been Mr Dein.

'But it's out of my hands, I'm not up there. I don't know what happened, and I don't want to know what happened.'

Henry's respect for Dein was further underlined by his opinion that he, with Wenger, has made Arsenal the club it is today.

'What I'm saying to you is that Arsene and Mr Dein, although no one is bigger than the club, are really close to being Arsenal,' Henry added in his interview with ESPNSoccernet Press Pass. ' If you ask me, they're the two people for me who come really close to ever one day saying it.

'But I would like to say that whatever happened, Mr Dein leaving wasn't a clever move.

'So far I'm here, talking to you, about a thing that happened that I didn't agree with but sometimes that's just the way it is. It happened, and we have to move on.'

Despite Henry's future in north London being in doubt, he sees the signs of recovery for an Arsenal side which has been off the pace in the Premiership in recent seasons.

'The potential is definitely there,' he told ESPNSoccernet Press Pass. 'The signs are definitely there. So now let's hope we can put that all together and bring back some silverware. Man United didn't win the league for three years and finally they did it - who would have said that 10 years ago? So things happen sometimes, you have to keep going and make sure you can be better and have a great season next season.'

Henry also admitted that the move to the Emirates made it difficult to compete: 'At the end of the day, everybody knows all of our resources went into building the new stadium. Therefore, you have to deal with what you have. So that's why I would like to give credit to some of the youngsters. Maybe if we don't have a new stadium, we would have done better and maybe have more players, I don't know.

'Sometimes you can't invent something that you don't have or create something that you don't have, so you have to deal with what you have. We're still playing good football, ok, not winning anything at the moment but you know, you have to give us that at least.'
Some of the things his says are reassuring, and some are truly troubling.

NYRB with the win tonight over Toronto. Angel with two goals in two minutes during the second half to pull off the 2-1 victory. He now has six goals and is playing better than anyone else in the league.

In Gold Cup action tonight - Canada beat Costa Rica 2-1; Haiti and Guadeloupe drew 1-1.

I'm driving down to LA tomorrow to go to the two US games at the HDC. We play Guatemala on Thursday and Trinidad&Tobago on Saturday. Should be fun. I'll try and take some pictures and post them here if I can.

Canada owned us. They did some great pressing and looked superior most of the match. Our three most talented offensive players are injured and it really hurts the team.

Speaking of ownage, the US U-20 team lost 4-0 to Canada tonight. Some kid named Tosaint Ricketts with the hattrick. Both teams were missing a lot of players, but that's still a pretty lopsided result...

Arsenal set to scupper Liverpool's Malouda bid

Published: 07 June 2007
Arsenal are planning to hijack Liverpool's bid to sign Florent Malouda because the France international's move to Anfield has stalled over personal terms.

Talks are expected to take place as early as tomorrow over a €15m (£10.2m) move from the French champions Lyon to Arsenal. Malouda, who was on international duty with France last night as they played their European Championship qualifier against Georgia, is then set to take a week's holiday before deciding his future.

There is also interest in the 26-year-old from Spain and Italy although the likelihood is he will move to England. Liverpool's manager, Rafael Benitez, wanted to make Malouda the first of his major signings this summer and there is a growing frustration from the Spaniard that nothing has been secured. The longer the delay, according to sources close to the player, the greater the chance he may go elsewhere.

That warning has alerted Arsenal who have now stepped in to register their interest in the left-winger, who was a key member of the French side that reached last year's World Cup final. He was recently voted the players' player of the year in France after helping Lyon to their sixth consecutive league title and scoring 10 goals in 27 league starts.

Arsenal have decided against a move for the Ajax winger Ryan Babel after considering bidding for the Dutch international in January. Although he would cost less than Malouda, Arsenal's manager, Arsène Wenger is unsure that Babel is of the highest standard. At the same time Arsenal's interest in Franck Ribéry is set to end with the Marseilles winger expected to complete a €25m (£17m) move to Bayern Munich today. Liverpool, meanwhile, will hope that Marseilles will use some of that cash to sign Djibril Cissépermanently.

If Malouda does arrive at the Emirates Stadium, it will be intriguing to see where he fits into Wenger's plans and what it means for Alexander Hleb and Tomas Rosicky. It also heightens the chances of Fredrik Ljungberg, who has been told he can go, leaving the club on a free transfer. Wenger himself will conduct the negotiations with Malouda if the deal goes ahead and his strong relationship with the out-going Lyon coach Gérard Houllier may be an advantage.

Despite signing a contract extension until 2011 last summer, Malouda announced several weeks ago that he wanted to leave Lyon with the club's president, Jean-Michel Aulas, setting a deadline of the end of June.

He wants to avoid the disruption caused at his club when Michael Essien was sold. The Ghanaian moved to Chelsea and their striker Didier Drogba said earlier this week that he would like to see Malouda move to Stamford Bridge. The two played together at the French club Guingamp and remain close friends.

Obviously I love Henry, but the things he's talking about are not for him to talk about in the press. He's a footballer, he's allowed his opinion, but publicly discussing his disagreement with a board decision is not good. He's getting a bit on my nerves with these things, the world doesn't evolve around him. This interview also tells me that he is definitely considering his future, again, so not good news at all. Apart from him talking about "us" in the future obviously.

I have to agree with you. He shouldn't worry so much about what's going on upstairs. Just play the game. I think alot of the controversey is because he is so outspoken and apparently "heart broken" over Dein's departure.

That said, I'm glad we are making moves towards Malouda. I think he could help us out a bit on the pitch. It would be nice to see a new face at Emirates.

And I thought I was good at this, ah well.

Seems to be another frustrating Arsenal day. It's about time for some good news now. I'd like Wenger to come forward and say something like: "Henry will be here next season. I told him to stop whinging and that's that" and some other reassuring things. This holiday is lasting forever, at least 2 or 3 days already. lazy ****er.

Im finally gett ing a chance to do something other than revise! Stupid A-levels, there is so much work that needs to be done. I had a mechanics exam today which went really well, but Im shitting myself about tomorrow, Ive got three physics exams.

Its quitew the opposite for United fans. We've already bought 3 players, one more could be coming in and on top of that the press are making it sound like arsenal will lose all their best players and their manager. Good times:)

In a way Mclaren has done a very good thing for england by dropping becks. Ever since he;s come back he's looked like a different player. Becks was good for us before he got dropped, but since his comeback he's been putting in the extra bit of effort in his performancces and he's arguably been the best player in our last two games. I doubt Mclaren dropped Beckham deliberately to up his performances, but dropping him has certainly improved him.

I think that just goes to show what could happen to lampard if he is dropped. It'll do everyone some good. England will play better and lampard will have to work hard to get himself back into the first team, so he should come back a much better player who realises that he shouldnt take his place in the team for granted. I want to see the lampard of euro 2004 who put his best performances in an england shirt because he knew that he had to play well to earn a place ahead of scholes in the team.

I say drop Lampard and don't bring him back.

"Bringing Robben was one of my pledges when I was running for president and still remains the case."

Robben, 23, was reported to be close to signing a new deal to keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2012.

I guess it shows that Mourinho still plans on playing a 4-4-2 with 4 central midfielders next season. I know that joe cole, kalou and SWP available are available, but it makes no sense for mourinho to sell his best winger if he plans on using a formation that uses wingers.

SSN Breaking News - Real Madrid are in talks with Robben.

Also, Xabi Alonso, Pepe Reina and Momo Sissoko are going to shortly sign new Liverpool contracts. Rafa returned from his holiday today :)

Who have Chelsea got who can play left wing?

Bridge, Kalou are the two that comes to mind straight away. Are they fishing for a new winger in the transfer pond?
