Didn't he gift Leeds a goal a few years ago in the Champions League? I think that was him...
I dont remember. He had a poor game against Bayern in the first leg. He shouldnt have let in those goals, especially the second one.

But I think his intelligent movement outweighs his lack of speed. He is one of the most efficient defenders in the game.
He does have a hell of a lot of experience under his belt, but at the moment ronaldo isnt any other player. Maldini's intelligence is going to help, but he's going to find it difficult to cope with ronaldo's pace.

It would have been interesting to see ronaldo up against maldini when he was at his prime. Maldini was a bloody good player. I think he would have been able to take ronaldo out of the game.

I wonder if Fletcher is going to be assigned to Kaka. I'm just thinking if they can man mark Kaka largely out of the game, Gilardino is then the main attacking threat and perhaps O'Shea and Heinze together will be able to cope with him.

Im not nervous for the game, I don't know if that's good or bad... Last time before the 2nd leg against Roma I was to the point of vomiting I was so nervous and they socred 7 goals. Now no nerves at all... oh wait there they are they just aren't as bad as they were against Roma...phew, anyone have the line ups yet?

ITV reckon Brown is at centre back so...I mean I got my news from the BBC, so it's that age old clash, BBC v ITV. We'll see.

Now, predict that Man Utd will win. :)

Please...
They'll go through.

I am however cooking Lasagne at the moment, which quite possibly could mean that I am subconsciously predicting the Italians to go through.

0 : 0 it is then

I'm sorry, but it was completely obvious what Kaka was going to do, there was only one place he was going to put it.

So I blame Van der Sar, again. He didn't even dive, as if Kaka was EVER gonna hit that ball to the front post.

What a mess. Can't blame Van der Sar for that one, though I can blame the rest of the defence.

Thing is, United have been the better team. Milan have had possession, but have done almost nothing with it (except the goals, obviously). United, on the other hand, have had a whole bunch of really good chances...yet they're the ones 2-1 down.

Kaka again? Sounds like he just ripped apart the defence from a Dida longball in one move.

No. Evra messed up and knocked into Heinze who had the situation under control and Kaka had a 1v1 with Van Der Sar as a result.

Also, Milan's first goal was ridiculous. After we scored, we just sat back and let them take the game to us. Conceding that goal was an inevitability.

Man U's reserve defence ;)

EDIT: Heinze didn't have the situation under control, but he might have regained control.

That was pretty much ended when Evra rugby tackled him.

Yes, that was what I meant. Heinze could have regained control, I believe. And Evra was nowhere near Kaka when he collided with Heinze.

I'm afraid this game has gone the way we feared. United the better attacking side, creating a whole bunch of good chances and even scoring...but their makeshift defence is letting them down.

I genuinally think Ferdinand's pace would have stopped the first Kaka goal, though Van der Sar should have saved it anyway, and I can't imagine their regular defence could have made such a complete mess like they did for the second.

Ahh the great football 'if'.

If that had went in the net it would have been a goal! :lol

Perhaps, it can be argued that the first goal would have happened regardless of who was in defense. But the second goal? No way in hell would something like that have happened if we had our first team defensive lineup.

:lol :lol :lol

kaka' :bow

the funny thing is that milan isn't even using the right side of the field. everything is going through seedorf and kaka'. i didn't even notice gilardino until the ±40minute.

and evra won't be playing next week. lol.

I disagree a bit about the first goal, I don't think Van der Saar is to blame, at least he not solely.

He had to make a decision, in hindsight it was probably not the right one - but in hindsight everything is easy.

I think Heinze's sever lack of pace was responsible for that goal.

The second one was just an incredible **** up by Evra.

We attacked well at times but those were too far in between. Milan was controlling the game tactically and they have had a far greater amount of possession especially after our goal.

Fletcher seems to be having a great game, just like he did against Roma at Old Trafford.

EDIT: Oh and Heinze is doing great in centre defense. He made quite a few crucial interceptions already and he seems pretty comfortable.

In the second half, we need to calm the f**k down and take the game to Milan. We seem to be rushing our attack especially after Milan knocked in the second goal.

Yeah...if's and but's don't change anything. We were the better team in the first half unfortunatly we aren't the team winning at the moment. If we could manage a goal or two in the 2nd half a 3-2 aggregate lead would be great.

This is Italy :(

Well Heinze can't do anything about his pace, he ran as fast as he could.

Van der Sar on the other hand...he must know that all strikers are told to hit the ball across the keeper from that position. It's possible that it'll go to the near post, but you have to play the odds and go for the more likely shot.

I mean, the shot wasn't even that fast, nor did it go right in the corner...if he was ready to dive where it was likely to go, he'd have saved it. Cech would have saved it.

uhm kaka' is FAST. he outran messi while dribbling...

i doubt ferdinand could've stopped unless it was with a bodycheck or something

And Roma had more possession than United when they lost 7-1, it doesn't make a difference if they're not creating chances along with it. unitd have a number of good shots and near misses...Ronaldo's shot, Carrick's shot, Giggs' header, Rooney just missing when sliding in, Ronaldo heading inside the box (not the goal).

Apart from Kaka's other shot from outside the box that Van der Sar saved...they really didn't create much.

Unfortunately for United, they don't need to now, good possession is exactly what they need to carry this game through.

it depends, his positioning wasn't great - that's for sure. But I would say that any keeper has to pull a great great save out of the pocket to stop it, even though it wasn't fast.

Let me rephrase the Heinze thing: he was far too slow to react and never had the pace to recover. That's what I meant.

I agree. It's unfair to place any sort of blame on Heinze because he's playing out of his regular position and he's having a really good game at the moment.
