i doubt ferdinand could've stopped unless it was with a bodycheck or something

Heinze was barely behind him, it wasn't some 50 yard sprint. If it's a situation where Heinze a not very fast player can almost get to the ball, it's a situation where Ferdinand would have.

I can see this game being madness with our makeshift defence. I could see us winning 3-2 or something stupid. Which would not bode well for the return leg.

Please be true. Ugh kaka + dodgy defence = pain.

Thats a frustrating first half. We played better and we created some decent chances, but they're ahead. Van Der Sar's responsible for the first goal and then the defence messed it up for the second. Its disappointing because we've bene playing very well. Heinze's been impressive and so have ronaldo and fletcher. If only ferdinand was playing, he would be able to cope with kaka's pace. Letting in 2 away goals is far from ideal, but United look like they can still score. We need to score atleast one more goal to give ourselves a decent chance at san siro.

Evra's booking really pissed me off. He didnt do much wrong yet he still gets a booking and now he misses the next leg.

I still see it as a standard save. Even if he couldn't save it, the very fact that he didn't even dive in that direction makes him culpable to my mind. You can tell from the way he's moving and the way he's caught just crouching upright that he was ready for a shot to his right rather than his left, and that's just bad goalkeeping.

If he'd dived and it had gone in...fine. Not his fault, nothing he could do. But not even a movement in that direction...good job Foster's back next year.

****in A - his goal that knocked Celtic out he covered 60-70 yards in just over 5 seconds - and this was in extra time!

The thing is you really don't see his acceleration like other players, he just kinda glides...

Thing is, United have been the better team. Milan have had possession, but have done almost nothing with it (except the goals, obviously). United, on the other hand, have had a whole bunch of really good chances...yet they're the ones 2-1 down.

How many undeserved wins did Man U steal this year? The most deserving team doesn't always win, that's the way it is.

And on the goals, I'm going to give credit to Kaka, instead of making excuses for Man U defensive breakdowns.

Kaka didnt do anything special. We gifted the goals to milan. vamn der sar should have saved the first one and our defence gave kaka the perfect opportunity to score.

I'm not taking anything away from Kaka, but the fact of the matter is he wouldn't have scored those goals against a competent defence, certainly not the second one. He couldn't really have done much more with them, and his all round play has been excellent.

As for it being the way it is...I know that. Obviously teams win games when they don't deserve to...but does that mean I can't say they don't deserve to? It'd be a very boring topic if so, we'd only be able to discuss results, not performances.

Fair enough. Kaka finished well both times and he's just an amazing player on the whole.

Oh Carrick...

Yet again, another great chance. This is a bad time not to hit the target for United, it's just like against Middlesbrough.

I think they used up all their shots on target during the Roma game.

I haven't seen the second goal, but saying that Kaka's first goal isn't anything special is just silly. Kaka's pace and great shooting (much effect on the ball) is something you could atleast acknowledge.

This referee is quite poor, for both sides I've seen bad decisions, luckily nothing too major yet. I worry about him around the box though.

What? They're getting the ball forwards incredibly quickly. TOO quickly sometimes, Rooney's left alone up front with the ball coming towards him and no other United players within 40 yards.

See what Ac milan just did?

That's speed. Moving the ball fast and not the players torwards the goal, is not what i refer to having speed.

Speed getting to the goal. Hey look, Ac milan did it again.

Such terrible defending, it's unbelievable.

If United don't finish their chances, I'm worried they'll be going to Milan 2+ goals down.

And Man Utd defense is acting horribly today. They miss the markings, mess up the passes and transitions. Evra is being horrible.

You mean they need top pass quicker. "Manchester need more speed" isn't very clear.

Carrick's passing has been quite poor tonight.

What a chip through from Scholes.

Now let's hope United don't start playing too deep again like they did after the first goal.

Yah.

And jesus, Man Utd looses possession soo easilly.

Amazing pass from Scholes.

See this really gets to me - what has Fletcher done to merit that tonight? Is it just being an easy target? He was just involved in the goal, and hell Carrick has made more loose passes tonight. :(
I agree Fletch has been solid.

God United should be in front, but you know Milan are going to have a few more attacks and any one of them could result in a goal.

I just don't like him :lol

Amazing save from Dida. Carrick is sucking wind today.

Actually Carrick in the last 10 minutes has started passing well.

I think Gattuso going off has really hurt Milan, defensively.

Kaka seems to be getting quite frustrated, United have handled him much better this half.

I'm sure he'll get another chance in the game though, to punish them.

Yeah thats what Im afraid of as well, he can just score at any moment and he's obviously on form tonight....

I really hope United don't regret missing all these chances, I reckon they could have scored 3 this half. I mean 2-2 is a great result for Milan, and if United don't finish them off it could get even better (for Milan).

Deffo - Gattuso does an amazing, unsung job - very much in the Makelele role; he plays simple passes, breaks up the play, and has an mazing engine.

Big loss to Milan in the 2nd half, and is easily illustrated by how much more dominant Man U have been since he went off.

I love that sort of thing, the Ronaldo/Nesta run and crash into the boardings. It's such dedication, there was only one place those two were ending up, but they care more about the football than their own safety.

Wonderful defender Nesta, he really is.

I'd take him off for Solskjaer. Scholes is playing great, but you don't want to lose him for the second leg. And Solskjaer has a knack of scoring sub goals.

Yeah I was going to say for Alan Smith but your right Ole and his sub goals...

I take back what I said... Dida's not the open door. Actually, as soon as I said that, he started making many many saves... rightnow, it's all Man U vs Dida. Whoa.
