I'm lost too, but I tihnk they are talking about some woman on tv trying to get one week of wages from EPL players.

ESPNsoccernet:

In an ESPNSoccernet interview soon to be fully viewable in our Motion player, Thierry Henry has discussed his future as an Arsenal player and bemoaned the loss to the Gunners of vice-chairman David Dein, a close ally to boss Arsene Wenger. An excerpt is currently available in Motion with full version to follow.

This should be interesting...Is this the intervew that Cornballer posted? Or something different?

They are really making it sound bleek.

sounds like the one Cornballer posted.

Just wait until the English newpapers post it tomorrow, and the day after. It will be in the news until Monday.

Are they putting a video online?

By the way, the Henry to Liverpool rumour is tosh. Some of the higher-ups were laughing about it at a conference related to Liverpool or something tonight.

he would never join another club in England.

I don't think he will be joining any other club, he just likes to whine a bit.

What was his infatuation with David Dein? Was Dein close to the players? You can have Rick Parry of Liverpool, I hear he is very fast with transfers.

There's something troublesome about the fact 90% of the posters in this topic are also 90% of the topics in the big brother topic.

Apparently Dein was very involved and was very genuine in his dealings with the club and the individual players. He is also a great friend of Wenger's, so when he left, it kind of put Wenger's future into question as well.

well Dein made all play deals together with Wenger. He's the one that got every single player to the club, got them their good salaries etc.

He was popular with the players because he was good at what he was doing and because they got good deals (not exaggerated ones, mind you).

What he said is however nothing a player should discuss in public. And Henry is just a player too, unfortunately he seems to think otherwise at times.

I see, shame about him leaving then (haha not really!), he sounds like a genuine fella, really hard to come by in the Premier League.

I don't want to see Henry out of the league, but I wish you'd just sell him 'cos I'm ****ing fed up of these rumours, it's so boring.

Hell, get Eto'o and some money for him and you'll probably get the better deal in the long run, it'd just be hard to see him go.

I guess when you're a captain, and considered one of the best players in the world, you feel you can't do wrong. I would hate to see Thierry leave Arsenal like this. He wasn't fit for half of the season so we didn't get much out of him. Now the team is struggling (Most clubs would be ecstatic over fourth place, but as Arsenal fans we are spoiled I guess). For Henry to leave now, it would really leave a bad taste in my mouth because the club has done so much for him, I feel he owes it to Arsenal to stay and bring the club back to a better state.

to be honest, there's nothing to complain about. The club is on the up, we have a strong young squad that is only going to get better, our own new stadium and a pretty good chance to at least compete for silverware next year.

It's getting tiresome to hear players complain, they have to trust Wenger and the club and there is not a reason for them not to.

Don't get me wrong, everyone can be a dramaqueen at times, just keep it private.

I'm actually starting to feel that way too. The rumors are getting very annoying and ridiculous. Every transfer period he gets linked with someone different and the media runs crazy with it. The community then goes crazy and then he starts getting linked to Liverpool. :lol

Seems like PSV is close to signing another deal: Ajax's Kenneth Perez. Although he's performed quite well last year for Ajax (12 goals, mostly as a substitute) Ten Cate (Ajax coach) and Perez don't like each other, and Perez is tired of being 'abused' by Ten Cate. Feyenoord wants him too, so we'll see what happens. PSV can offer a higher salary and CL football, but Feyenoord can practically guarantee him a spot in the starting eleven. He faces stiff competition at PSV from the likes of Kone, Lazovic, Farfan, Afellay and Aissati. Perez can play as a left striker or attacking midfielder.

Anyway, I'd like to see him at PSV, but only if and when he accepts that he'll have to performance to earn a place in the starting line-up.

Compilation of Perez at Ajax last year.

just watched the excerpt of the interview on the espn website, sounds a lot more cheerful than what we have to read.

The full interview is on this weekend on ESPN channels, Saturday at 12 uk time on the pacific ones. I shall watch on sopcast.

Spurs are apparently favourites to sign Sneijder from Ajax for £10m. I'd guess he'd play on the left for Spurs unless they can buy a left winger too.

Noooooooooooooo. Villa have been trailing him for MONTHS. Where did you get this information?

Independent. I haven't seen him much, I think Falch seemed to like him though.

If he is any good and they get him, I'd say Spurs are probably only 3 players off having a team that could compete seriously for the CL, but as one of those 3 is a new goalkeeper and they don't believe Robinson is a problem, I'm not sure they'll make all the changes.

Aww crap. Just found the story. That's crap. Hopefully Lerner will undo the purse-strings and chuck some big wages at him. The guy is a great little playmaker and a good finisher too. Like a craftier and nimbler version of Petrov.

Spurs can buy as many players as they wish, they will not challenge the top 4.

They had their chance last year, and they ****ed it up. That chance isn't coming back any time soon.

That's their lot.

Boca-Cocuta started after a 45 minute fog delay.

its still impossible to see the back right of the field due to the fog with the TV cameras. Interesting anyway.

I dont cheer for either team but this is a very exciting game.

Riquelme and Palermo are making alot of preasure

Boca game suspended after a ref made an offside call annuling a boca goal because the fog was too thick.

No idea when the game will start again, but by far the best game this week.

International - Pachuca for the recopa is played later tonight. Start time for that may or may not change due to this game.

I thought they were getting Martin Petrov?

Anyway talks between Liverpool and Lyon for Florent Malouda have stalled, according to Liverpoolfc.no because they want 10 million and we only want to give 8. Stubborn as usual I see. Also, Arsenal are involved as well as Chelsea so it's a three horse race.

interesting.

let's see what comes from it. 8 to 10 million seems a fair price for Malouda, unlike 10 million for Snejder and 17 for Ribery.

I hope we win that one, but seeing Chelsea in there will probably mean that the price goes up to 15 million.

Jesus christ you'd think that with the nice cash injection the new owners are giving us, you'd think we'd bend over just a lil bit.

arseblogger's take on the Henry interview, with a little insight on Henry's relationship with David Dein:

arseblogger said:
I suspect that Henry’s personal relationship with the Dein’s is what has caused him to be devastated (remember Dein’s son, best man at Henry’s wedding and legal advisor to Thierry’s agent, cosy) rather than anything else. I’m sure David Dein was a lovely, friendly guy but at the end of the day it shouldn’t matter one bit to any player, captain or otherwise, what happens at board level and frankly it’s not their place to talk about it. If the players were unsettled by the departure of David Dein I would respectfully suggest they need to get ****ing over themselves and very ****ing quickly too.

arseblogger said:
An unequivocal statement needs to be made by club or player, or both, to put this whole thing to bed now. It’s getting very, very tiresome and Thierry is a bit of a moany hole at the moment. Someone buy him an ice-cream or something.

arseblogger and I think alike. Except for our position on Hleb.

Rooney against Bolton? Really good goal, but barely a goal of the month. Against the competition it had this seems ridiculous. RIDICULOUS

bbc biased confirmed

you mean the same bbc who always used to show Utd last for like 5 minutes every week and got itself "banned" by making a controversial "documentary" about ferguson and constantly trying to have a dig at us?

The same bbc who used to be run by a die hard liverpool fan and who's motd pundits are largely ex liverpool players?

I'm not at all anti-BBC by the way.

What the f***? Chelsea is so f***ing annoying. They need every player that wants to go to the Premiership. We may as well consider Malouda a Chelsea payer now. They are the New York Yankees of English football.

there's examples where player did decide to snub Chelsea in favour of other clubs though.

Theo Walcott for instance (who was around 12 million then by the way).

So there's always hope.

edit: Buffon has penned an new 5 year deal with Juventus btw.

Dont forget Alan Green, if you listen carefully when someone takes over commentating from him on 5 live you can actually hear him open the window and start chanting 'you'll never walk alone'

I used to hate Andy Gray because he made no effort to hide the fact that he's a Man U supporter. Very biased at times going from his commentary. He has toned down quite alot in recent years though..

But say what you will about that man; Gray and Martin Tyler form the best commentary team in the world

I fully agree.

Gray still has the ability to annoy the **** out of me, but they are the best. Compare that to Motson and Lawrenson on the bbc.

It was his choice, though he did reveal it too. It's always just one person's choice, even for the goal of a months, there's no panel. Well, there's probably one to come up with the top 10 in the first place (but not for the season, obviously).
