Weird. Soccernet listing this as the US lineup.

(G) Kasey Keller 18
(D) Danny Califf 7
(D) Jimmy Conrad 12
(D) Drew Moor 15
(D) Marvell Wynne 2
(M) Ricardo Clark 19
(M) Benny Feilhaber 5
(M) Sacha Kljestan 16
(M) Justin Mapp 21
(F) Herculez Gomez 8
(F) Eddie Johnson 9

If that really is the lineup, I'm shocked that Demerit and Pearce aren't starting. Hmmmm....

And yes, I'll take some Tevez, please.

Hooray! This is fantastic news.

Arsenal ready to up Sagna bid
Last updated at 21:58pm on 28th June 2007

Auxerre are resigned to finally losing Bakary Sagna to Arsenal.

The French side have already rejected a £6million offer from the London club for the 24-year-old, but the former France Under 21 defender threatened to stay away from pre-season training if he was not allowed to move.

Auxerre president Gerard Bourgoin said: "Sagna has a deep desire to play in England and he genuinely wants to wear the Arsenal shirt. They seem keen to sign him as well. The conditions for him to leave have not all been met — at least for the time being."

Birmingham have held talks with Arsenal about Mathieu Flamini, who has also interested other clubs.

I am over the moon with this news, but it's just a rumour for now. It's coming from the bbc though, so that should be quite trustworthy. I trust the bbc.

now if you excuse me for a moment, I have to confirm my credit card details to this security email I just received.

I am happy about Sagna, but I would like to see a forward signed as well. Sorry, it's hard to please me...err.

I really want Tevez. He really impressed me last season. He is the kick in the ass Arsenal needs.

Tevez:

what the **** is going on this evening? Good news, positive rumours - wtf

lol, I read that Inter lost interest in him, not vice versa. Either way, I'm glad. If he doesn't go to Arsenal I'd still like to see him in the Prem. It was exciting watching him fight his way out of relegation. Like I said, even if he doesn't come to Arsenal, I'd like to see him do good things for West Ham.

But on the other hand, gimme Tevez. I want.

And there we were thinking that Arsenal and Liverpool were gonna have crap summers.

I think it's Chelsea's bad summer this year, Tal Ben Haim.. lol

Well I still feel that we have had a worse summer than Chelsea. We lost Henry. I'm over it now but it will still suck to see him in a Barca shirt. Could be worse though. Won't turn out too bad if Arsene re-news a contract.

Well look at this way, you coped ok without Henry last season for a period, plus you were missing Van Persie and most of all, that clinical finishing. If you can get a clinical goalscorer (I still don't think Tevez is a clinical goalscorer though), then that would be a major coup. Plus with the money you'll be getting from Reyes and from Henry, you'll be able to get a decent striker. I only think you need improvement in one winger, and a striker when it comes to the first team.

BTW, Quaresma is in talks with Barca.

If they sign him, they'll be the best team in Europe.

he's just on holiday in barcelona with his family. and, come on, he's not a player for barcelona.

Do you know what's going on with Sylvinho? I heard this crazy rumour that PSV might be interested in him.

he was the left back we were supposed to let go, but with van bronckhorst going to psv it looks like he'll stay now. no news about this rumour around here.

Thank you for clearing that up. I heard otherwise though.

And yes, I thought it would be strange for him to be going back to Barca, plus they don't need him.

It's worse than I thought.

It's not loading for me. It's just a little soccer field with some advertisements for Nissan, no game ;/

I assume so. From what I've heard, they've had every game so far.

I was surprised by it. I assumed we'd have Pearce/Bornstein for Moor, Demerit for Califf, Twellman for Gomez, and Olsen for Klstsfsdfasfstan, but that doesn't look like the case. No confirmation that this is the real lineup, btw.

Weird. It's working fine for me. I'm on Firefox on a PC, btw. You can also try -->link. Just download the software and click onto GolTV.

COPA AMERICA: US lineup vs. Argentina?

So there is a US national team starting XI for tonight's game against Argentina floating around the web. I haven't gotten confirmation of it (ESPN.com's match tracker and the Copa America site have it but USSoccer.com's matchtracker isn't up yet) so I'm not buying this one. I figured I could still toss it out to see what you folks thought of it:

--------------Johnson----------------

Mapp--------Kljestan---------Gomez

--------Feilhaber---Clark-----------

Moor---Califf------Conrad----Wynne

----------------Keller-----------------

This group doesn't make much sense since it doesn't include either of the team's natural left backs, Bornstein and Pearce. That's the biggest problem I have with it. Well that and the absence of DeMerit.

What do I see the lineup being? After some more consideration I think this is what we'll see:

------------------Johnson-------------------

Mapp------------Feilhaber---------Nguyen

--------------Olsen------Clark-----------

Bornstein--DeMerit----Conrad----Wynne

---------------------Keller-----------------

Why this lineup? Johnson has the speed to at least bother the Argentina central defense (though actually finishing is another story). I like Nguyen and Mapp on the flanks and I think a Feilhaber-Clark-Olsen central midfield could work well (although I have to say that I like the Kljestan-Feilhaber-Clark triangle in the lineup circulating the web).

I'm not down in Venezuela so I don't know what kind of form certain guys are in at the moment but I think this group could do well. Pearce has to get some consideration to start but I see Bradley going with his guy. If neither Bornstein or Pearce start then I'm really at a loss (though Bornstein has to be somewhat fatigued after playing in both the Gold Cup semis and final). I would also wonder about not choosing DeMerit, who looked solid in the Gold Cup.

I'm not sure about Nguyen's fitness either. He's out of season and is just coming back from shoulder surgery. I know he saw time in the China friendly but that's about it. Gomez might be worth a look there considering he's in-season. Actually, the Starting XI being floated around isn't that crazy except for back-line.

As soon as a lineup is officially announced (or I get good word on the lineup) I'll post it. If the above lineup really is the starting lineup then I'll stamp it as official when I get the word.

Penalty for Colombia on a dubious call (looked like the guy got the ball.) Justice is served as the Paraguayan keeper saves it. I guess they don't need Chilavert back there after all...

I dunno, looked like a foul to me. Anyway, 1-0 Paraguay after a nice goal by Roque Santa Cruz.

lol, the whole time, the game is on tv here. Good ol' Hispanic population taking over NY.

I kind of feel like Colombia is controlling alot of this game and Paraguay is just nailing their counter attacks.

Most of the game is being played right in front of Paraguay's 18, and alot of the Colombian's shots are getting stuffed or deflected, so kudos to the Paraguayan defense for that I guess. But, besides that, like I said, it seems like Paraguay is only winning because they are getting a few loose balls poked out and it turns into a goal.

Ok now Paraguay is controlling this. After 5 goals I'm convinced. Let's hope the next game is better. USA USA USA!

Ok, the US lineup was the earlier one that I posted, not the late entry. Phew.

-------------------Keller--------------------
Wynne--Demerit----Conrad----Bornstein
Olsen-----Feilhaber------Clark------Mapp
---------Twellman----Johnson-------------

Are you watching on tv or streaming it?

Ray Hudson is hilarious, btw. Not sure I'd want to listen to him all the time, but he's pretty funny in small doses.

nicely placed. Good start for us, even though Argies were working us up and down the field until recently :lol
