Portsmouth scored in the 83rd minute then derby scored a minute later. Its 2-2 at the moment. That would have been a good game to watch.

Don't give me a heart attack, I saw 2-2 and almost passed out.

Geovanni to put Man City up 2-0. The goal was nicely worked. I'm not sure who fed it to him but whoever it was pulled some nice footwork on the touch line and got off a pass to Geovanni. He was basically by himself and then put it through a defender's legs and past the keeper.

It's done 3-1 Newcastle. The defense was no good with the exception of Faye and even he made a few mistakes. The selection of the midfield was ultimately the gamebreaker for me. Speed? McCann? Nolan on the wing? And Vaz Te returned back to his old ways and didn't show any of the progress he made in the preseason. At least it's only the first game of the season.

We won! Great start to the season, a win away at a decent side, coming back from behind, couldn't ask for much more. Well, I could ask for a great performance, the first half was apparently crap but hopefully we played well the second.

Ljunberg is looking around the pitch for people wearing red poor fella

:lol He's just looking for a team with more ambition!

You know, I can already see that Bayern team being a nasty outfit to deal with in Europe next season (er...if we get there next season). Based on the preseason Kahn's reflexes are still as sharp as ever, which is big for them. That's gonna be big for us as well...Lehmann needs to return to his form from the 2006 season if we're gonna challenge for the title.

Ljungberg looked so frustrated the whole match. I don't know if he was mad at the officials or his teammates' inability to get anything done but West Ham did not look good today.

Zomora was absolute garbage. He has the touch of a rapist. He put one 15 feet wide from the top of the 18 and totally botched an opportunity for a break away when he couldn't control the ball and fell over himself.

I wonder if Geremi will go to right back when/if Barton returns. Regardless, looks like Newcastle will be a real threat with their missing players back.

also have to think that Middlesbrough were without both of their central defenders, Pogatetz and Woodgate. They are a decent pairing and Middlebrough would probably have gone down without them last year

You're intending to lose to Prague, are you?

After a quick piss I'm ready for Villa-Liverpool. I'm almost always going for the underdog so let's see if Villa can do something.

I was about to slap you through your monitor but I can lay no harm to a supporter of THE MIGHTY VILLA!

lol. I hope they are broadcasting that here in the states. I guess I'll find out soon enough.

Liverpool's line up:

--------------------Reina-----------------

Finnan----Carragher--Agger---Arbeloa

Pennant---Gerrard----Alonso------Riise

--------------Kuyt------Torres-----------

Mascherano doesn't even make the bench, he's getting one hell of a long rest from the Copa America.

Arbeloa at left back interests me...I wonder if Villa are playing a left footer on the right wing.

Well Five Live said earlier it was going to be Young and Carew up front with Reo Coker and Petrov in the middle, but I had always imagined a 4-3-3:

-----------Carew----------
Young--------------Agbonlahor
Barry--Reo Coker--Petrov

Well we'll find out soon enough. Harewood's on the bench too.

I just find it strange to play Arbeloa at left back unless he's facing a left footer who will cut inside all the time. It's not like they need to, they can put Riise there and Babel on the wing.

I really want to see how Torres does.

league 1 or championship.

How about Wolves? Strong squad, usually making the playoffs in the championship.

Or for more of a challenge maybe Nottingham Forrest.

That's the one thing about having to play an Attacking Midfielder at right back, when he's forward he belts it at the goal :D

I thought Laursen could play right back, am I wrong? Then you could put Cahill at centre back, who must be crushed at missing out.

Mellberg can play right back. Laursen is an out and out centre back afaik.

When Laursen came back into the squad after his injury last year and joined Mellberg in the centre of defence we didn't lose. Think that's what we have in mind. Also Cardner is probably a little bit nippier on the flanks.

Pretty even so far.

If you're a Liverpool fan, are you not a bit pissed off that your team has spent tens of millions of pounds this summer...and you've put out last year's side with Torres?
