who scored Villa's 3rd?

I honestly think Villa are a class team despite their 4-0 loss to United. They must have gotten so psyched out by going to OT because that performance was really way out of character for them this season.
Villa always get beaten by us, I don't think they can cope with the pace.

I'd have to say the turning point for Arsenal was the Birmingham game.

yeah most definitely. Not only did we lose a striker who was scoring goals for us, but we became timid. We haven't had the same fire since then.

When it happened I said 1 of 2 things would happen. Arsenal would either step up and use the injury as a motivating force to win the title...or it would go through us like a shockwave. Which is exactly what happened. We were rattled and still haven't fully recovered.

The injury played a role, but I think the bigger blow was to not win that game with this dodgy penalty after we've come back to lead. Then the whole Gallas drama and the teams self esteem was all of a sudden gone.

And to top it off we're running out of steam now.

another 1-1 on tuesday with extra time and penalties please. please let arsenal go through.

Playing at any decent Premiership side is better than not playing at a top side. He played like 55 minutes in the previous 10 Liverpool games, and if it wasn't for Rafa resting most of his first team, he wouldn't have played today either.

Listen to his interview on MotD tonight. Sounds like a man whose girlfriend only visits him once a year.

none of which want him of course

Which is why I said it.

He'd play more if he wasn't sitting on his contract Rafa said just as much in his interview with Sky.

Rafa doesn't mess about when players do this, Owen tried it and was shipped out.

I prefer our run in compared to Blackburn's even though we share opposition in the like of Derby and Birmingham. Man City's ties look too tough for my liking to challenge for the 7th spot.

Well that's fucked up, Crouch doesn't want to sign a new contract unless he's playing, Benitez doesn't want to play him unless he signs a new contract?

I'm with Crouch on this one.

Excellent result for us (Sunderland) today. That's basically us 99.99% safe today and if anything we can push on from here as Arsenal is the only game Thewhere we shouldn't be surprised to get a result.

Crouch wants out? We'll have him thankyou very much, I doubt there'll be many teams around us with the amount of money we should have this summer.

I'm not very confident going into this one. We're going to have to be at our very best to win at Anfield in my opinion. I don't care how bad people think Liverpool have been this year. They'll step their game up when they need to.

I like to think it was the 4-0 beat down we gave them in the Fa Cup. They were never the same after that.

You know, every time I think I've seen the worst game of football in my life, we play liverpool.

There is no way we beat them on tuesday unless we get a ref who doesn't fall for their dives and actually calls fouls when they happen to us and maybe gets out even a yellow card when their brand new player tries to kill Walcott.

Going to have to agree with had, if only because it'll make him like football again, but I hate football.

we've had so many decisions not go our way lately, it's ridiculous to be honest. Of course you'll notice only the ones that don't go your way - but I really cannot think of a single occasion in the last 6 months where we had an offside go our way or a penalty given that wasn't one.

Actually, there was one - the Eduardo goal against Man City. But that didn't affect the game or the result, we'd have won anyway.

Other than that everything went against us. Things will even themselves out again, but not this season anymore, and that certainly didn't help.

Wrong? I think its more a matter of opinion. But Id like to be proven wrong.
well, the fact that we played very well against Birmingham just after that game and should have won it if it wouldn't have been for a penalty that wasn't one in the 93rd minute should be proof enough.

And of course there was the Champions League too.

I agree again, the injury compounded with the draw just destroyed the season. And losing the play of Eduardo has hurt monumentally

I know how you feel 04/05 was like that for us... we were so close so many times it was so damn frustrating. 05/06 was barely better only cause we won the Carling Cup ( WOO fuckin hoo). I wasn't until last season that everything finally gelled. I was watching the old 04/05 season review and Rudd said something to the effect of talent, determination and good fortune and how it all has to come together , we were definatley lacking good fortune that season. Seems like you guys have the talent and Im sure this season will light the fires of determination ( I mean you guys were playing amazing mid season everyone was comparing this squad to the invicibles and then this almost epic collapse insued).. all you need is good fortune I guess.

All we need, if Eduardo can come back and be as good as he was, is a right midfielder and a better 3rd centre back. If Eduardo can't come back then we need a striker as good at actually shooting and trying to score instead of passing as him. Simple. The sale of Eboue would probably be a boost as well.

It seems todays draw has made me go crazy as I've been in a foul mood all day and snapping at pretty much everyone. I didn't really notice at first, but, apparently I was mentally invested in winning this game. v.v;; I think if I was at the game I would have tried to start a riot... The crazy English hooligan in me is seeping out. Halp! :(

Anyway, I watched some highlights of the game just a little while ago and still can't believe we couldn't score the second. Our goal scoring the past month and a bit has been horrid. Seriously, the majority of our goals I remember in recent games have been from fucking set pieces and headers. We've essentially turned into Bolton with the plus side of being capable of playing amazing football without doing a lot with it. Fucking joy. What a monumental collapse of a season it's been. I honestly don't remember worse ffs.

Edit: I fucking HATE teams close to the table playing for a fucking draw, what a fucking lack of ambition. FFS! I HATE IT SO FUCKING MUCH! >.>

we'll have to look to Tuesday now though, I know this team can do it - it's definitely possible.

It's not gonna be easy, Liverpool are a good team and Benitez knows how to play for a draw, or rather how to not lose games when it's required.

It's a clash of two footballing philosophies and I'd prefer Arsenal's to succeed, no matter that I'm a fan. I don't mind Liverpool at all, but I think it would be only right for the forward playing team to win. Not to mention that we more than deserve to win on the evidence of the first two games.

In a way our Champions League season does remind me a lot of 2 years ago - 2 huge teams in the last 16 and the quarter final (Milan and Liverpool vs. Real and Juve) and possibly a small surprise team in the semis (Fenerbahce vs. Villareal) - and in the end Barcelona (hopefully on the last two counts).

I'm not overly confident for Tuesday (not like with Milan), but I really think we can do it if we play somewhere close to our best. And hopefully Van Persie is going to be back.

You still have the Champions League, and you have a great base. You play fantastic football, but if Wenger adds a bit more quality this summer to give you depth, you'd be a major challenger next season. You've been linked to some great players, Diego, Ben Arfa etc.

It's not like I'm turning my back on my club, I'm just incredibly frustrated. If you were to create a league from the birmingham game forward I'm sure we'd be somewhere near the bottom. I think we've only won 2 games in our past 10 in all competitions ffs. Our defence turned to shit, at any given time they seem to be opened up by a piece of shitty play, we're scoring almost exclusively from set plays. It's one of the worst periods of results I remember from Arsenal. This is coming off of being 5 points clear at the top of the fucking premiership.

Like I said, monumental collapse and it's finally smacked me right on the back of the head so I'm pissed off.

That said, essentially, if Man U were to lose tomorrow, we'd be in pretty much the same position. Hoping for us to beat them and then Chelsea to beat them with Chelsea going on to lose somewhere else...... However, I'm not holding my breath.... Our team looks out on there feet after the first two Liverpool games and then to go into a Man U game.........

Anyway, Champions League........ Here's to, in all likely hood, another fucking 1-1 shitty draw. >.> I'm hoping for an early goal from Arsenal, but, the only time that's happened recently was against Liverpool the other night and that got fucked up by another case of fucking poor defending.

Yuh obviously we CAN do it, and no I don't think we would even have to play at the top of our fucking game. All I think we would need is a decent performance with stuff we deserve going our way for once. 1 month of BS decisions and I think it's about time something happened. I however expect us to have a perfectly good Penalty shout waved off by the ref who is 5 yards off AGAIN.... For the 4th time in 4 games against Liverpool.

Btw, if between now and the start of next season Wenger doesn't buy a player willing to make threatening runs off the ball all season round I'm going to throw a fit.... Again... I don't care where he comes from. If it's Merida, Vela, whatever. I don't care if he somehow convinses one of our current players to actually make moves into the box, he just needs to do it. The closest I'm seeing right now is Theo, who btw I think is showing what he's made of a lot recently.

Anyway, I'm going to shut up now, because I'm headed for full on melt down mode and I'm mr fucking optimist. Argh.
