CITY goalkeeper Andreas Isaksson has been recalled for the Barclays Premier League match at Middlesbrough on Sunday.

Isaksson has endured a frustrating campaign with Joe Hart the preferred choice between the posts.

Cristiano Ronaldo is not happy at Manchester United and is considering leaving this summer, with Real Madrid "waiting with open arms". (Spanish sports paper Marca, 0845 BST)
bailout.gif but then it's marca...

Also, they better be waiting with open cheque books too.

PSV and Tottenham will open the negotiations about Lee next week after the Premier league has ended. Lee has already let PSV know that he's very interested in returning to Eindhoven, so it seems that all that's left is for PSV to reach an agreement with Tottenham.

I really hope Lee comes back, we desperately need a good leftback. Together with the signing of Rodriguez our defense is pretty much set for next year, assuming Salcido doesn't leave.

I doubt PSV will buy any more players unless ofcourse important players leave. Gomes is alledgedly about to sign with AC Milan, who would be willing to pay PSV the buyout clause of 14 million euro. I'm just hoping our other important players (especially Farfan and Afellay) stay with PSV.

Michael Owen could be the big loser at Newcastle with a £40,000-a-week pay cut as owner Mike Ashley last night struck a fragile truce with manager Kevin Keegan.

Ashley called for an end to the civil war tearing the club apart as Keegan emerged from an, at times, heated four-hour showdown with his job intact.

But the manager was told that money for transfers is tight and that captain Owen will see his current £120,000-a-week pay slashed by £2m a year if he wants a new contract to start in a year's time.
So only Spurs are going to be in contention for top 4 next season it looks like. In 2 years though, watch out for the Brown Ales.

Just like Flamini and Hleb......................................

Ronaldo isn't at a club where they haven't won anything in four(?) seasons, or won't pay out 5k more a week for a player as it 'would break their wage structure' which would happily be broken if Fabregas held the club ransom for an improved contract.

Marca - Reals 'paper' - make this bullshit up everyday, it should be reported to FIFA for tapping up but they would do jack-shit about it.

Besides, I don't see the appeal of going to Madrid, apart from the weather, it just isn't the footballing force it used to be. Spainish teams are on the decline now generally, Italian teams peaked in the last two or three years; now British clubs will have their day.

Manchester/Alderly Edge is a shit place to live compared to Madrid.

Real Madrid are still the bigger club.

I was messing with you, care less.

I don't think there is a football fan alive who doesn't know this....

I'm so sick of Italian players not leaving Italy. Aquilani doesn't want to leave Roma and go to a club where he can actually win something big. Toni took a gamble (by Italian player standards) and won a league and cup and is in the final for the UEFA, is top goal scorer, all in his first year abroad.

Why should they leave?

And why aren't sick of not seeing any English players in Spain, Italy or Germany?

Have you guys already discussed the wage figures from the latest guardian podcast? according to rafael Flamini was on £20,000 a month and Toni is on something like £157K a week. He said he had reliable sources but it seems really off.

Yazan: they should leave because the current and short term forseeable trend is that English clubs are the strongest in Europe. Also they are likely to get a better salary.

As for more english players playing abroad, yeah I'd love that too.

That's what Hearts said, but I suppose Arsenal can afford better lawyers. Though they might go for promising, newly qualified, cheap ones.

also, I hope Manyoo don't win a fucking thing this season.
I was hoping arsenal wouldnt win anything this season too, just like how they won nothing last year as well. And the year before that.

And probably next year too.

well, they've won two consecutive titles. They had a bad spell for a few years, but now it looks like they might be on the way up.

I can think of a few reasons why he would want to go to madrid. Its much better living conditions for him over there, he probably dreamed of playing their as a kid and if he wins the CL with us this year, then he's won everything with us.

If we win the CL and the league, then will probably will be considered the best club in the world and maybe he will stay with for a while longer for that reason, but its only a matter of time before he goes. There is a chance he will go this season, but I do think he'll stay for atleast another season, maybe more.

We'll see in the summer.

I'd like to see it happen more, but from the recent players that have gone to play abroad it hasnt worked so well for them.

Beckham went to madrid and did ok.

Woodgate went to madrid, but it went so badly for him there. He had the worst debut ever and for the rest of the time there he was always injured. I reckon he could have done well for himself if it wasnt for all the injuries though.

Owen went to madrid too. He didnt stay there for long, but I thought he was a little unlucky. He was kept on the bench most of the time, but whenever he came on as a sub, he usually played well and scored. For some reason, he hardly ever started.

All those players went to madrid at a bad time though. The club kept swapping managers and they were going through a very long transition stage. Just because those three went abroad and ditn have the best of times dosnt really indicate that it will be like that for anyone else.

Still, I didn't see many English in Italy when Serie A was strongest. Italian players don't really like to play outside Italy and if they leave, they usually return after one-two seasons.

We stole Flamini from Juventus and we will probably take Amauri as well, but they want to counter with taking.......Sagnol:lol

I'm already so nervous about tomorrows game. I've even had nightmares about it! We should be fine. Its winga, they're safe, they have nothing to play for and we have the title to play for. Yet I still get this horrible feeling that its going to go all wrong.

wow, bayern plays without toni, ze roberto, altintop, klose and ribery. but they already lead 3:0 afte 28 minutes. i guess that's it for duisburg. by winning this game they might had a small chance to stay in the league. but with this result they can already book the hotels for the second league.

Wigan have allocated 3000 - 4000 seats for United fans, but there will end up being more United fans than wigan fans.

allegedly we've signed Ben Arfa for 16m, very trustworthy source and all that. Not my source of course, but arseblogs.

that would give me a raging clue

Eriksson was chiefly responsible for bringing Bojinov to the Premiership, so his agent has been frank enough to say that there are big questionmarks over the striker's future so long as there are such big doubts over Eriksson's job.

"At Manchester City there is a particular situation, in England we need to know if Eriksson will remain or not, he is the coach who wanted Valeri," Gerry Palomba told Calcio Mercato.

"After the tour in Thailand, the fate of many players at Manchester City will be decided." (Goal.com)

It begins

We are on a roll :-O

5:0 against Hanover

1:0 Almeida
2:0 Naldo
3:0 Borowski
4:0 Klasnic
5:0 Rosenberg

Diego missed a penalty but assisted two goals. Borowski scored in his last home game before he goes to Bayern.

EDIT:

6:0 Hunt

OMG!

Yeah, after the 3:2 I started to watch the other games :lol

But it's okay. We won! Everything is under control :O

Interesting. I'll believe it when I see official confirmation - sounds like a bit of a leap for Wenger.

Wenger's said before that he wants Ben Arfa, just a month or so ago I seem to recall him saying something, I think it's just a matter of whether or not Lyon would be willing to let him leave. Which has always been a possibility after his falling out with Benzema.

they are willing to let him leave, iirc the president was talking about selling him to Marseille.

They only thing that makes this sound untrue is the price. 16 million pounds would be a new Arsenal transfer record (by quite a way) and I don't really believe that Wenger would spend that much money on a 21 year old.

Unless he believes he will make an immediate impact and be the best winger in the Premiership after Ronaldo.

yeah, but Wiltord was already more established at the time (and 25 years old from memory, which is probably the age where players are most expensive).

I'm not complaining if he's spending the money, don't get me wrong. It's just a bit uncharacteristic.

I think he'll do really well. Wenger now needs to go looking for a Santa Cruz clone. ;-)
BTW, I wonder if any of the relegation battling teams will have 'Thubthumbing - Chumbawamba' churning tomorrow. Just heard it again after sooo long. Brilliant stuff! :lol
