Just for h0ppy I scored my first goal with Spain with Torres

It was a rebound off a Fabregas screamer that hit the bar

doesn't get much better than that!

I am a Marseille Fan and it is 99% done that Samir is going to Arsenal. Great signing for Arsenal, very good player although he had a better season last year. he is worth the £11.5m price tag. Come on you would rather spend that then £10m on Gareth Barry. (Rafa what are you doing)

I really hope Marseille sign Ben Arfa and Miralem Pjanic from Metz. Lost Ribery last season and now Nasri. Shame as I think Marseille can really push Lyon to the title next season. Should of done it this year but we had such a slow start. If we get Ben Arfa, Pjanic and hopefully Djib Cisse decides to stay for another season we can win the league.

.

I don't understand what goes on over there in France. Lyon just won their 7th consecutive title :lol

is there anyone else that can challenge them?

Just listening to the Times football podcast, this is their team of the season:
Brown at right back? Thats odd. He's done a sound job, but sagna has been much better.

I'm not sure if they made a mistake picking santa cruz over adebayor. Its difficult. I think adebaoyr has the edge, but only just.

hadareud said:
That reasoning just doesn't work, does that mean that Henry would only have scored 15 goals had he not played for Arsenal? Why did Bent score 20 goals at Charlton and is a total failure at Spurs?
Because he doesnt play for spurs as often as he played for Charlton! Bent is a good player, he just made a stupid career move. Not many strikers in the EPL would be able to play ahead of kjeane and berbatov at spurs.

Now that Berbatov looks like he's leaving spurs, Bent will get more first team opportunities and show that he is a good striker.

Ok I don't have much preference over who wins Euro 2008. I need to adopt a team, there must be other people here in that situation, has anyone got ideas about what we can do? Maybe some kind of random team assignment + prize for the winner (dunno how to do that).
I dont have any idea's for a support system, but I'll be supporting France (because benzema's algerian and because I love evra) and Portugal (because of ronaldo)

germany is always strong at tournaments.
yeah they're great in tournaments. They've won 3 world cups and 3 euro's.

They play well as a team and they have a very handy skill: penalty taking!

I just find it surprising that there's a huge match tomorrow and no one here (including fans of the teams involved) is talking about it
I had an exam today and another one tomorrow, so I've got very little time to do anything :(

I obviously will support nobody, I want both to lose
:lol

while the Manyoo supporters here are all season ticket holders living in Manchester.
That didnt work out as well as you hoped, did it? I ddint even realise that quite a few united fans that post here live in manchester.

I ruin that pattern. I live on the opposite side of the world, but I lived in the Manchester for 8 years and I'm going back there next year.

just saw this:

Lyon president Aulas reveals Arsenal talks for Ben Arfa
May 21, 2008

Olympique Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has revealed an approach from Arsenal for young winger Hatem Ben Arfa.
Marseille are regarded as favourites for Ben Arfa, though Aulas said today: "But I have not been contacted by OM officials yet.

"There is also interest from two English clubs, notably Arsenal."

Le grand espoir de la France, l'Nasri, a signé pour le club Anglais d'Arsenal à Londres.
Il a dit de l'actualité "Je ne peux pas attendre de jouer pour Arsenal. I sont leur appartient."

I translated it to "The great hope of France, Nasri, signed for Arsenal of London. Of the topic he said "I cannot wait to play for Arsenal. I belong for them."

there's also some other shit on Nasri's personal website:

rom his own site http://www.samir-nasri.net/news.html#22

Can somebody please translate it??

Edit : Here's a crappy translated version

Samir will sign in Arsenal in the course of the day Samir should pass a course in the course of the day. To sign in one of the largest European club. Arsenal. The minot will make left the great community of frenchies present in London. Directed by the hand of Master as regards formation: Arsene Wenger, Samir will cross a large stage for his career. This choice is more than judicious at 2 years d' a great competition like the world 2010, it is better to now leave qu' at one year of this expiry

oh btw, I have too many national teams to name that I like to see win, lol. Being an American sucks like that. Get your pick of the litter!

Naturally, I always support Italy. But, I also like Spain and Holland.

Exams ruin everything. I've got to watch the game at home instead of going out and getting pissed because I have an exam tomorrow :(

I'm going to the bar with some friends to watch it. I will take pics just to show you guys have a CL final is pretty much a non-event in the US.

I hate this fucking country.

works quite well actually. GHG, Ronok, Great King Bowzer etrc all live in London and actually go to see the Arse play.

I myself live outside of London and went to 10 home games this season.

Even so it's a very silly argument.

My prediction for today's line-up

------------------VDS--------------------

Brown-------Rio-----Vidic----------Evra

Ronaldo---Scholes--Carrick-----Giggs

------------Rooney-----Tevez----------

Thats what I reckon the team will be, but I think it would be better to play hargreaves instead of carrick. Chelsea have a strong defence and I reckon hargreaves would be more effective that carrick.

I will get to London in the next few years. I've never been anywhere except Canada. My parents could never afford to go anywhere but now that I have a good paying job, I'll be saving for a trip to London.

It's funny, because when I was younger, all I wanted to do was go to Italy because that's where my family is from. But, in the past few years my love for Arsenal has changed my mind and now I want to watch them at the Emirates before I go anywhere else.

I can't even imagine seeing them play in person. I'm not even kidding when I say that I might break down and cry :lol

ONLY REASON IM CRYIN RIGHT NOW, IS CUZ OF THE ADRENALINE!

Definately save up. There really isnt anything better in football then actually watching a game in a stadium.

Great experience. Also a great way for a kid to expand his vocabulary and learn loads of swear words. The first time I went to old trafford I was sitting next to someone who kept saying fuck trhoughout the whole game. Before the second half my dad made me swap places so that I wasnt sitting net to him anymore!

Watching Arsenal play is the only thing i will miss about living in England (im moving to Canada for a year on placement) but is it quite easy to watch the games out there? except of course for the time difference!

Nasri looks good to sign on soon, Arsene usually signs the players at night, he did this with Adebayor its so the press do not get the exclusive before Arsenal.com does.

do you guys appreciate it when an American legitimately supports a club? It is a rarity. I know when foreigners come over here and they're into an American team we eat that shit up. I'm just wondering if I'd get the same hospitality :lol

There was a huge pile of laundry on my bed (was cleaning yesterday afternoon). When I (drunkenly) passed out it didn't occur to me to throw them off. No, I slept around the giant pile of clothes all night. It was quite disorienting when I came to!

Yeah they been so dominant. This season was much closer though. title race went right down to the last game. Losing Malouda and Abidal hurt them, also Juninho is getting older. If they lost Benzema they would be in huge trouble!!

Fun day today...a few hours at work, scampering off to a water hole to watch the CL final, then heading downtown for Toronto FC vs DC United, then hitting a bar after that to watch the Spurs fuck up the Lakers (fuck you Faker fans). Downtown is gonna be hilarious...Jays are hosting the Angels, minor league hockey team Marlies have a playoff game literally a stone's throw away from TFC's ground, and barely a half mile away from there Kanye West has a sold out concert. :lol Traffic is going to be delightful.

I'm rooting for Man U...don't want Chelsea to be the first London team to win a European cup. Man U should have a hell of a lot more then two European cups at this stage, so them getting a third wouldn't bother me at all. I just hope this game is more fun to watch then last year's FA Cup snoozer.

I too think Chelsea will get this one though...hope I'm wrong.

Damn, your school gets out late. Well just tell me when you're going that way I'll bring extra alcohol.

it's on at 2PM EST which isn't bad here. Yesterday was my last day of classes so I have all morning to hang out.

I'm heading to the gym now and then I have to go grocery shopping. By then, it should be about time to head to the bar.

delaWHERE?!?

Thanks for the post, Blablurn. I just went through my memory banks for all those finals. Hard to believe that in 2001 I had to fake being sick to get out of going to high school so I could watch the match. :lol

You have to be *forced* to do this?!?

dude after 4 years it's enough, lol. I'm tired of waking up and feeling like shit. Plus it fucks up my workout. I'm a pretty diligent gym goer and drinking doesn't help you at all in that department.

When I was a freshman/sophomore I drank like a maniac. Being in a fraternity didn't help either (sorry Osorio haha).

On top of that, I'm an accounting major. It's alot of work. I'm just ready to be done. I know I'll miss it after a month but I'm looking forward to living in a nice clean house and getting home cooked meals again. I'll still party at home, just not as much.

Perrin

Ghaly says Blackburn want him, along with others, including Hertha Berlin. I like him as a player, thought he was good at Spurs when he got to play in central midfield, but his attitude is a worry. Stormed off the pitch at Spurs when subbed, throwing his shirt away, then reportedly had a go at everything he could find wrong with Birmingham whne it looked like he'd sign for them and Steve Bruce said there's no way he'd play for them. Still, he then rotted in Spurs' reserves for half a season and went on loan at Derby, so maybe he's learned some humility.

I'd rather United win tonight because I don't want Grant as Chelsea manager next season. Maybe he wouldn't be even if they won, but it's less likely if they lose. I still don't think he quite understands why we have a go at him so much...it doesn't matter that he's getting the results generally, he's not playing exciting football consistently, when he promised he would. At least when Mourinho played boring stuff, he himself was interesting. Grant's just....dull.

However, as I've said, I think Chelsea will win it.

I feel your pain. I had an exam this morning, and so this will be the first time in 5 years I can watch the Champions League Final without having an exam the next day.

:D

Although I do have an essay due in tomorrow, but I'm pretty much done and plan on having it submitted before the game.
