There's no exact word for 'backfire' but the closest one would be 'rebotar'.

:lol This thread has a pretty closed set of posters, none of which include mods, and thus a certain... atmosphere has developed that we are afraid to lose.

Speaking of drunk, I got absolutely blotto last night.

And just caught up with the last few pages. Too many laughs.

You're the ones that posted financial statements about how much debt we're in right after we won the league (not you, but some others).

fuck those who say ronaldo doesnt perform in big matches. he played brilliantly and scored a vital goal and almost set up a couple more, did really well down the left hand side with evra, who also played brilliant.
He was amazing. Aside from the penalty, he did everything right. People say that he doesnt perform in big games, yet he's scored important goals against arsenal, Liverpool and chelsea this season. Tonight he proved that he can do it, but he didnt need to prove anything. He's scored 42 goals as a winer. His goals and is performances are one of the reasons why we've won the league and the cup. Anyone who says he isnt the best player in the world is just in denial. Ronaldo is fucking brilliant.

This summer, the most important thing to do is keep ronaldo. The rumours are going to carry on happening. Real Madrid well get marca to write something new everyday and try to keep unsettling the player. Fergie and gill have said that there's no way that he'll leave, so hopefully he will be with us for atleast one more year.

This just feels incredible. Winning the league feels special, but winning the CL is just that little bit better. Its been a long 9 years since we last won it, but we finally did it. Giggs scoring the last penalty and beating charltons record, this year being 50 years since munich, it all feels like fate. Its amazing. The way we won it was incredible too. It doesnt feel as good as Munich, but it does come close. Winning a CL final in a penalty shoot-out has ben the most nerve-wrecking thing I've ever watched. Just when it looks like we've lost it, Terry slips (:lol ) and give us a lifeline. Giggs scores the last penalty, van der sar saves anelka's penalty and we're european champions for a 3rd time.

This is the biggest test that Ronaldo's got to overcome, he's won everything with Man U and will be world player of the year.

SOME players who shall not be named when they're the cremè de la cremè become lazy ass and stop caring and nobody really wants him.

Fulham have signed Scwarzer on a free. I guess he'd just prefer it in London to Middlesbrough, don't blame him, 'cos it's certainly not a step up in footballing quality. And I don't think Fulham really need him, he's no better than Keller and Niemi, but it's free so whatever.

Arsenal have been linked with midfielder Alberto Aquilani but he says he is staying at Roma. (Independent)

Do you know what four million pound championship players get you?

A championship side.

Psycho, even if you have to move to Liverpool, do it to keep Ronaldo.

*** may contain language monstrosities ***

Aniway, if Ronaldo scored that penalty, would have been regular? I know that you can't stop while you're running to kick the ball

Beautiful game :)

Ronaldo is not human, I wonder how long will be able to keep this form

Portuguese blood, this being their second of back to back titles with a CL to go with it, I'd say he's just about done. Maybe the big international tournament this summer will give him a chance to show what he can do internationally, but he'll face some harsh criticism if he doesn't show up and never be the same

wait i forgot which one i was talking about at the end

And no, if it had gone in it would have been against the rules of the game. It still would have counted though. They let him get away with it all the time.

I dunno, when I watch Ronaldo play he appears quite lackadaisical. Like he is more concerned with just having fun than squeezing every last bit of potential out of his body. Which is absolutely fantastic for every non-United or Portuguese National Team fan on the planet. (Tangent: I think this is the root cause for a lot of his callow behavior like crying, whining, diving and melting under pressure *sometimes*.)

Given that, he could stop caring entirely and still probably be one of the top 15 attackers on the planet, his natural ability is just that good.

Now while this is pretty sweet for everyone (especially fans of the next club that spends way too much money to acquire him) it's actually not that great for him. If he did completely give a shit it would pretty much be indisputable that he is the best attacking player at the top level of European professional football of the decade. Arguably the best I have seen in my lifetime at that role too. Instead he always gives the haters that little bit of ammunition to tarnish him. But hey, I'd probably be even worse if I made a bajillion bucks and fucked chicks like Gemma Atkinson so I'm not judging.

"Feinting to take a penalty kick to confuse opponents is permitted as part of football. However, if in the opinion of the referee the feinting is considered an act of unsporting behaviour, the player shall be cautioned."

What a rubbish law. "Yeah, you're allowed to do that. Unless the ref gives you a yellow instead". One or the other please, FIFA.

I always think it's unfair, but I can remember seeing it at Euro 96 so it's been going on at least 12 years with no move to stop it, probably considerably more.

I have resolved the gatecrashing situation. No more Red Scarlet (but there is no hard feelings) but we have lost Miner to a banning. :(

Also another mod did the banning so we have definitely now become a blip on the radar for those employ of The Man. Things fall apart my comrades. Things fall apart indeed.

Ronaldo supposedly said this:

"I don't promise nothing," he said. "I don't promise nothing to my mum, I don't promise nothing to supporters.

"I want to stay but the future - no-one knows. I want to stay. We are going to see in the next two weeks, I don't say I make a decision."

Just...thrilled at double negatives now entering even foreign players' English. And he did say he made a decision, I heard it clearly on ITV. The reporter said "Will you stay on?" He said "Yes."

It's still not his choice. It's not his choice for another 2 years, I dunno why he thinks it's his choice. Footballers need to get over themselves, they have some pretty clear guidelines of when it's their decision and not, and it's never been easier for a footballer to move on...but one year into a five year contract is not one of those times.

It's up to United and they're never gonna get more transfer money for Ronaldo than this summer, but then they'll never get more money from other sources for owning Ronaldo than right now either.

The circle cannot hold.

One of us has a method of contacting everyone important if shit went down, right?

But Ancelotti, who brought Mathieu Flamini to the San Siro from The Gunners earlier this month, insists he will purchase one of the aforementioned strikers.

"We will return next season to win Serie A," he said in Gazzetta dello Sport.

"We will sign one of Drogba, Eto'o, Adebayor or Amauri. All of those players have perfect characteristics.

"There will be new names at the club, but it will not be a revolution because the basis of the group is already solid."

I'm impressed, I really am. I don't think even Real have managed to tap up 4 players in one sentence before. Adebayor's a no, stop wasting your time, Amauri is going to Juve barring a last minute collapse, I'm not entirely convinced Eto'o's for sale though that's possible...so I guess Drogba's the best chance. Does he really want to join a Milan out of the CL though? Wouldn't he prefer to go to Barcelona or something if Chelsea are willing to sell? He's not Flamini, who's young enough that one year out of the CL isn't going to seem like much in the long run.

Perhaps it will be Eto'o then, but they're gonna have to offer a lot to get him. And if Drogba were to go to Barca, wouldn't Chelsea just get Eto'o back themselves?

What do you think a straight trade with Eto'o and Drogba would do? Who gets the most out of that?

Well Chelsea get a more skilled player who scores more goals than Drogba, while Barca get a powerhouse up front to add to a pretty weak (physically) team. Eto'o's 27, Drogba's 30...I'd say it's a pretty even trade.

Poor, deluded Milan. Maybe Amauri because they like scuppering Juve deals...

sigh, after some sleep I've come to my senses and I guess I should congratulate Man U and their fans on this board, mainly psycho_Snake, Mr Ping, Ryck etc (but not Kaizoku and ElyrionX, I can't stand those people; there I said it). Hopefully we can at least challenge you on the title come next season =).

i read somehwre else that a TV reported asked if he was leaving and he said "no, I'm staying". 10 minutes later I read somewhere else that he said he's not sure.

I think he will stay. As you pointed out, it isnt his choice. He still has 4 years left on his contract. Plus, I think we'll offer ronaldo an improved contract (even though he signed one just last year), just to make him a little happier.

I wonder how Eto'o would do in Spain. It seems that the increased speed of the game might hurt him since his pace is so incredible.

And 3 years is a big deal. 3 years ago Juventus had never been relegated, and Chelsea were on top of the world.
