Yeah. I know that the papers are making up 90% of the ronaldo stories, but I'm still letting it get to me even though I know most of it is bullshit.MrPing1000 said:Don't believe everything you read. THe papers have to print something.

Im really mad at Nou Camp atm, they forced his way out of Barça just because they liked Bojan better. I guess Guardiola had the last word about it, but still is kind of sad, he just turned 19 and has a lot of potential. At the top of it we didn't even get much for him, just 6m plus 5m more if he plays regularly and 20% of a future transfer.
Sevilla's president Del Nido said yesterday that Alves will likely sign for Barça in the next few days.
Pique, Seydou Keita, Caceres and Alves so far. Now we need someone who can play as left-wing and a striker if Eto'o leaves.

BBC said:Czech Republic star Petr Cech has become the latest goalkeeper to criticise the new Euro 2008 ball.
The 26-year-old Chelsea keeper feels the ball is difficult to judge because it deviates so much in flight.
He said: "The new ball is really unpredictable. We will see lots of goals from 30 metres out.
"The balls are so quick, they have scarcely any wind resistance and they can change direction any second, also in the last five metres."
He told Rotweiss, the online magazine of the Swiss Football Association: "It therefore won't help at all to see the ball coming from a distance."
Cech added: "And the TV commentators will again say 'what was the goalkeeper doing there? He surely got his hand to it'."
Croatia keeper Stipe Pletikosa joined the chorus of concern, saying: "Those balls are going all over the place, changing direction all the time, especially if fired from a distance."
Manchester United's Edwin van der Sar, who will be goal for Holland, said: "They are not designing balls for goalkeepers."
And Portugal's Ricardo added: "Everything that is new in football today is to hurt us. Nothing is done for our benefit." Germany keeper Jens Lehmann has previously voiced concerns over the ball ahead of the tournament, which starts on Saturday, saying: "You have to be brave to try to hold onto the ball. You really have to be happy just to stop it from going in."
don't worry about the money part. it's just to be part of it.Mama Smurf said:Don't press gang me.
As I told had in a PM, I'm having money issues so I wasn't gonna take part, but I feel guilty as it was my idea, so I'll join but I can only put £2 (minimum betfair stake) on it.

You got 7 more hours to sign up people, pull your finger out.
heidern said:It's only June and we already have a winner for most stupid maneuver of the transfer window. Considering he has had no stability in terms of appearances due partly to injury and partly because Barca had Messi, Etoo, Ronnie and Henry on their books as well as Bojan also coming through he's done well for a debut season.

How long is his ban? Can he still log in and pm while the ban is in effect?
Yazan said:One month.
He dissed John Mayer over on gaming side.ElyrionX said:What did he get banned for?
Yazan said:But he got banned for a really shitty reason AND he did read the OP. One month is too harsh, but what can you expect of the worst mod on this board (I am probably getting banned as well)?
He's getting banned for the euro!ElyrionX said:I see.
Tough luck, I guess.
Well at least the timing of his ban wasn't as bad as mine. I couldn't post during the CL final, FFS.

I'm very surprised with the Italy and France numbers. Doesn't make a great deal of sense to me. The rest of it is more or less in line with what I'd expect, though Switzerland and Austria do seem to get more of a bump for home field advantage than they should. This thread has a long discussion of his simulation for the 2006 World Cup. Does anyone have similar odds/numbers from European sources?Voros said:I have a mathematical ranking system that I keep track of on a semi-regular basis. One of the things I use it for is simulating the results of tournaments. So, for example, I simmed the 2006 World Cup 10,000 times and tracked how often each team won, advanced, etc.
Here it is for Euro 2008:
To Win:
France = 16.4%
Spain = 11.82%
Holland = 11.64%
Czechs = 10.42%
Germany = 10.39%
Italy = 7.49%
Portugal = 5.7%
Romania = 5.62%
Swiss = 4.64%
Croatia = 4.62%
Sweden = 3.77%
Turkey = 2.48%
Greece = 1.69%
Poland = 1.49%
Russia = 1.3%
Austria = 0.53%
To advance:
Spain = 74.18%
Germany = 73%
France = 62.16%
Czechs = 61.27%
Croatia = 55.36%
Swiss = 54.81%
Holland = 53.14%
Sweden = 51.63%
Portugal = 50.25%
Italy = 45.4%
Greece = 39.45%
Romania = 39.3%
Poland = 36.76%
Austria = 34.88%
Russia = 34.74%
Turkey = 33.67%
You can see what a nightmare the group of death is for France, Holland, Italy and Romania. It's pretty rare for a favorite to win a tournament like this not be the favorite to advance. France's biggest challenges are all in its group as France, Holland and Italy are the three top ranked teams in the tournament. Romania is no slouch either, ranked 7th among the 16 teams.
Home field advantage is always difficult to account for in tournaments like this (where most everyone is fairly close to home) so take the results for the Swiss and Austrians with a grain of salt (they are given full benefits for home field).
