that game was an insult to football.

Well the moment the dutch thought that "killing" Ronaldo was the best solution to win the game, that was what starded the insult.....i hope we(Portugal) play against them, because i cant remember when we have lost against them......we have been winning to holland for quite some time....

Yeah, looks a class player. Really composed.
Yeah he's very calm on the ball. He reminds me of ferdinand.

The whole midfield has been brilliant. Sneijdar and Van der vaart provide the creativity, whilst de jong and engelaar keep the ball well. They've done well against pirlo, gattuso and ambrossini. Kuyts done well too, but he's still the weak link in the midfield & upfront. Van persie or robben would be a lot more effective than him.

The big concern with the Dutch was their sputtering on offense. Looks like they were just slow rolling us all along. :lol

Also I am so glad I am supporting ze Vaterland and not embarrassments like Poland, Italy or France. DEUTSCHLAND DEUTSCHLAND UBER ALLES.

you best stay here if you're a fan, the other thread looks as if they put three black guys in a room full of KKK members..

I'm a Dutch fan because of the hot angel on the previous page, but I picked Italy to win this match :(

Okay, maybe now they deserve to be ahead by 3. This is the worst Italian defence I've ever seen. Literally.

You're right about the defence, but Italy is not know to miss goals, and they missed too many here.....

Oh I agree that Italy should have scored, but Holland should have scored even more themselves.

Italy kinda deserved one goal before Hollands third goal. But overall they had nothing on Holland.

The Dutch really are looking to go far in Euro 2008. Nobody was weak for them in this game. Never seen the Italians get this dominated. Orlando Engelaar was my dark horse of the game, and if he keeps up this form, a major club will be looking to get him (Arsenal... I'm looking at you).

What rules???it was clearly offside......there was also an injury....

Buffon running around in the future beating down teammates when opponents attacks confirmed.

He was injured by a teammate.

game was rarely exciting, and definitely a bad game for Italia. Zero defence, absolutely unfocused players (Di Natale, Camoranesi, Materazzi), atrociously low number of kicks. This sure needs to change in the next match, and they sure need to line up Del Piero way before it's already over

Law 11.11 in the rulebook - under advice to referees. "A defender who leaves the field during the course of play and does not immediately return must still be considered in determining where the second to last defender is for the purpose of judging which attackers are in an offside position," he says. "Such a defender is considered to be on the touch line or goal line closest to his or her off-field position. A defender who leaves the field with the referee's permission (and who thus requires the referee's permission to return) is not included in determining offside position. [Stolen from Guardian's minute-by-minute coverage]

Engelaar looks so weird out there, who's ever heard of a 6' 6 central midfielder? He is gonna be 29 in August, could put people off, but it's not too bad in that position.

Italy need to change things for the next game. They just cannot play like this again. Firstly, they need to sort out that defence. They got slaughtered. Materazzi and Barzagli doesnt work. They need some speed and cheillini can give them that. He's not as experienced as the other two, but he can play better than both of them. The other defender should be materazzi. Out of him and barzagli, he's the better one.

Now the attack. Italy started to become good in the 2nd half, but it wasnt until del piero came on that things started to click. After the season he's had with Juve, he should be there. He's one of their creative players and thats a big thing that Italy lacked today. Out of the three central midfielders, pirlo is the only creative one. Camoranesi can be ok sometimes, and di natale doesnt play well on the wing. Next game del piero should be there instead of di natale. I'd also put cassano instead of Camoranesi, but I cant see Donadoni doing that.

that was pretty brutal. But, good for Holland. They are a good side and alot of fun to watch.

Im so fucking happy right now. Words cant describe it. When you slaughter the World Champs 3-0 everything in life is good.

Forza brings it onto himself.

wow, that's a douchey comment. They can come in here, but if they say stupid things they should be prepared to get owned.

He used to be a striker, looked solid in defense today.

Agreed, Italy started to become much better once he was swapped in.

Spain - Russia should be good tomorrow. Not as good as it might have been, Arshavin is suspended (for the first two games) and Pogrebnyak is out of the whole tournament with an injury, they were the Zenit stars. Russia are screwed...probably.

If Fabregas doesn't start, I'm gonna be mad. I can understand Senna and Silva aren't in direct competition, but I think he's better than Xavi and Iniesta...definitely better than Iniesta.

I was born in Poland and lived there for 7 years, but have lived in the Netherlands for 18 years now. So like Podolski and Klose I have split loyalties.

In a just world, Donadoni wakes up tomorrow with a pink slip on his pillow and Lippi standing over his bed smoking a cigar.

Unfortunately, that won't happen, so I'll settle for defenders who don't need Segways to get up and down the pitch and the majority of Rossonero 5th place taking a hike. De Rossi needs to start, Del Piero needs to start, and Chiellini definitely needs to start.

Otherwise, Holland undoubtedly deserved the victory; they've had a phenomenal game.
