Arrrrrrrrrrrr!

It's from my friend that lives downstairs - I asked him for the password. :P

lol, at school, my roommate used our neighbors wireless the entire year without them knowing.

Am I the only one having difficulty downloading Spain's national anthem from ESPN's Euro 2008 page here? It always ends up in an error about halfway through for me. If anyone can get it, I'd be most grateful if you uploaded it to sendspace/mediafire.com for me.

It'll be sad to see Frank go, but he wants a four year deal and Chelsea just don't seem to be willing to give anyone 30+ a four year contract.

ADEBAYOR
ADEBAYOOOR
GIVE HIM HALF A CHANCE
AND HE WILL GO ABROAD

Honestly though that's one of the biggest about turns I've seen in such a short space of time.

'I love Arsenal, we play the best football, I love wenger. I'm staying.
but lol srsly i might leave.'

And all that was within the space of a couple of hours.

Seriously, if we get whats quoted ("40-50 million Euros") then he can go. Wenger can fix up the squad properly with that amount of money. If Hleb goes as well then even more so. It reminds me of the situation where Anelka, Overmars and Petit all bailed out. We didn't end up doing too badly after that did we now?

Exactly what it's reminding me of. Seriously, Adebayor is a very good player, but, if he wants to try taking the same route as Anelka, I wouldn't stop him for that kind of money. :-/

On Adebayor, the thing is replacing him (duh).

I don't think Santa Cruz would fit the bill. He's a very different player to Adebayor who, strangely, complements Arsenal really well. Dunno too much about Gomez - the other name I've picked up from the paper talk.

Any suggestions?

Villa would complement Arsenal, but I don't think he'd be a direct replacement for Adebayor and we still have Bendtner who is seemingly similar to Addy.

Huntalaar is a name from a few years ago, but it's strange nobody's picked him up amid all the hype he's had.

Aren't Man U interested in Huntelaar?

As for Bendtner... whatever his qualities as a striker I can't get over the fact that, compared to Adebayor, he seems to be running in sand. So sloooow.

Manyoo were interested in Ramsey too.

I don't think Bendtner is that slow btw. He doesn't have the pace of A. but he's still quite quick

:lol @ Adebayor. I check the news yesterday afternoon and he said he was staying. I then chekced the news in the afternoon and he said he wants to go to Milan. Seems as though Arsenal are turning into Milans feeder club.

On one side it could be a good bit of business. You'll be making a large profit on a player that cost you very little. On the other hand, there are not many players that can score 30 goals a season and dont forget how young he is too. The thing is, if arsenal sell him they are not going to make much money out of the whole deal. If you want to replace adebayor properly then you're going to use just about all the money receievd from adebayor on another striker, unless Wenger decides he's going to rely on someone young and inexperienced to replace him, which would be a bad idea.

depends on who we get in. Santa Cruz and Huntelaar would be relatively "cheap" compared to what we would get for him.

I'm quite sure we're not going to let him go for much less than 28 million pounds, that would pay for both Nasri and Huntelaar for instance. Another 15 million for Hleb and we'd almost get Silva for free, probably still have to pay around 5 million on top of that. That would be 10 million spent on Huntelaar, Nasri, Silva and Ramsey. With the money saved we could still bring in Veloso for 15 million. For 25 million that would be quite a considerable improvement in quantity and quality over last years squad.

I doubt that's how it will pan out though.

It would be a mistake to led Adebayor go - no player will come in and have an instant impact that would compare to Adebayor now.

I'd have liked him to stay too.

But if he thinks he is a footballing god and that he's worth 50 million and 120 grand a week then it's time for us to cash in on him. The interviews I have read with him this morning show his character.

Sadly, most footballers are going/have gone the way of money.

there's various exceptions to that, but yeah - it definitely is getting worse. I'd like to think that we have a few players left at the club that don't think that way, but you never know.

The only ones you can half-way "trust" is the ones you bring through yourself. Clichy, Cesc etc. That's not to say that Cesc will be at Arsenal for the rest of his career, but I'd like to think that a move won't be inspired by money.

I dunno if it's true or not but supposidly Paul Scholes last contract negotiations lasted 10 minutes, then he signed the contract.

Scholes uses a sports field lawyer, doesn't have an agent as such. Keane did the same, the Nevilles use their dad (Neville Neville)

Fuck yeah Diablo 3 looks awesome.

Scolari has told players he wants them to report back one week early, and then Mikel has said in an interview that the team would be better off without Frank and Drogs.

Mourinho wants Quaresma, Inter Milan first bid 20 million + Suazo and Pelé (Loan), Porto said no.

Inter says, okay then, 30 million for Quaresma. Porto wants 40 million.

ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Holy shit, you better not start bidding for Gomez then. Stuttgart rejected a 35m bid by Bayern during the Euro.

50m minimum :lol

Huntelaar is much better and costs a fraction of that.

ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

What is he going to do with all these midfielders?

Lamps, Quaresma, possibly Deco

He also said that he's going to save Carlos Alberto from savage Werder Bremen who want to destroy his career. He can have that fat psychotic bastard for free for all I care but he'll proably shell out a nice amount of money (3-5m).

After the Euro he's had, they'll be lucky to get half that.

Even Stuttgart's director joked about that :D

I think Gomez could be great (30+ goals a season across all competitions) if the likes of Fabregas or Nasri feed him passes but so would Huntelaar or any striker of reasonable quality.

I wouldn't mind Gomez, but everything over 20 million Euros would be far too much for him. Even 20 million is too much in my opinion.

Finally figured out why FMLive wasn't working for me, Peer Guardian. As soon as I shut that it started. Must use some torrent based system for auto-updates or something.

hmm, now theres no servers to connect to :-/

Today's MLS matchups and my predictions:

Colorado - Columbus
Toronto - New England
Salt Lake - Kansas City
San Jose - Chicago
New York - Chivas

When are we getting a new thread... after the Euros?

I wouldn't mind if we just stayed in this one so we can certainly become the biggest thread on gaf.

I think we should start a new one a week before the new season starts.

And I think based on a rota of regulars to start it (Ryck 2 years ago, me last year, MrPing this year) it's Cornballer's turn this year. Or Ghost or Lakitu.

I asked the same question a while back and Mrping suggested a week before the community shield. I agree about seeing how big this thread gets tho. Especially since the silly season can now start in full force after the final tomorrow.

I don't get Adebayor these days. He owes alot to Wenger. The least he can do is honor his fucking contract.

Wenger did say this:

Arsene Wenger has insisted he will not meet Emmanuel Adebayor next week for talks on the striker's future at Arsenal.

The Gunners boss is adamant the Togo international will still be at the Emirates Stadium next season and said he does not plan any further talks.

AC Milan are pursuing the striker and Adebayor yesterday claimed he will meet Wenger next week before deciding on his future - he is demanding a pay rise to a reported £120,000 a week.

But Wenger said he already met Adebayor some time ago and has no plans to meet him again.

The Arsenal manager said: 'He's under contract and that's quite simple. I can tell you as manager of Arsenal FC I'm not worried.

'Of course I expect him to be at Arsenal next season - he's under contract.'

Asked if he was going to meet the striker next week, Wenger replied: 'No - I've already met him.'

He wants to move to a bigger club.

That's all.

Football players have 10 to 13 year careers, when counting high level competition. He can't wait till he's 40 to move.

That's how football is.

there are no bigger clubs. He's playing at a club that gives him the chance to challenge for the Premiership and the Champions league.

UEFA Cup, bigger club my arse.

The whole "oh, footballers have short careers that's why they have to behave like greedy pricks" is a load of bollocks too imo.

Yup he's being an idiot. Glad Wenger seems to be holding him to his contract tbh. This is really getting out of hand. Didn't he sign or 4 year contract last year? Don't players realise what that means? I mean going back a year later for a pay rise is out of order. If you're not happy with the money then don't sign the contract. Or put in some kind of pay rise stipulation if you think you're able to prove yourself worth that amount.

He's 24.......... He's at a big club. He isn't better then Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, Ljumberg and countless other players who stayed with Arsenal for long periods. Honestly, he's not worth the money that is being thrown about in rumours even. He's a good player who has a lot of problems. In a lot of ways I feelt he scores a lot of his goals at Arsenal because he fills a role with missed for a long time. :-/

Basically, I'm saying he's become big headed. He thinks too much of himself because of all the hype around him from him scoring 30 in 1 season...... ONCE. :-/
