Team Line-up
Yeah I'm really suprised, I'm also very happy that Scholes is back! I thought Fergie said that Tevez was going to play today?

Hopefully Man Utd can remain injury free whilst Chelseas troubles continue :D

Still 0-0, but Dunfermline are a surprisingly attractive side. Given that they're a Scottish side and got relegated last year, I expected all the subtlety of Scottish cooking (double deep fry it), but I'm quite impressed.

United suffering a bit from a lack of width, with Fletcher and Brown and Eagles and Silvestre on the wings.

EDIT: 1-0 to United, Eagles.

Hargreaves has made a few good bursts from midfield, he's the closest thing United have had to a Keane replacement since the latter left.

Man Utd are 2-0 up against Glentoran. Didn't see who scored the first but Evra scored the second with brilliant build up play from Nani + Anderson. Those two are looking really special! (Though Nani is a tad selfish)

It's live on Sky Sports 1 btw.

Very nice finish by giggs to give united a 2-0 lead against dunfermline.

Its good to hear that nani and anderson are playing well in the other game

while the cat is away, nani does a backflip!!

NO BACKFLIPS!!! :lol
:lol I think the "No Flips" rule was while he was carrying an ankle injury (Which he aggravated when he done the flip in Asia) , I think he's allowed to do it now.

I thought he was permanently banned from doing it, whihc would be better. It would be silly to lose a player because of a celebration and it has happened before. Lua lua got injured when he did the backflip. The headline of that story was flipping idiot, which was very fitting.

Its 3-0 to united against glentoran, but I cant find out who scored. Does anyone know?
It was Nani, that's how this discussion started :D

1st Goal = Campbell
2nd Goal = Evra
3rd Goal = Nani

I understand why he shouldn't do it, but I love to see the flips :)

Nani's scored 3 goals in pre-season now. Thats pretty good for a new signing. lets see if he can play as well as he has been in the EPL. Its going to be a much bigger test for him. The teams we've played in pre-season have been easy apart from inter, so its not been that much of a challenge for him.

We should buy that defender, brilliant pass to Rooney :lol

Any word on the other game? Can't check it right now.

Barring injury, I reckon this will be United's team against Reading:

---------------Van der Sar-------------

Brown----Ferdinand----Vidic-----Evra

Ronaldo---Scholes----Carrick----Nani

------------Rooney-----Giggs----------

Scholes completed 90 minutes and didn't look tired at all, so I think he's fine. Hargreaves did 60 minutes and looked good, but there's zero point risking him until he's ready, not with Carrick there. Tevez will potentially be registered in time for the game, but with no pre-season friendlies I can't see him starting, probably on the bench. Neville's definitely out if he didn't play any part in either game today.

Nowak is officially the US Olympic coach. That'll probably work out well, the only potential speed bump is his rocky relationship w/ Adu.
Things can probably get a little worse for U.S. Soccer but not a whole lot more. I'll take him, Adu beef and all.

Sounds like Hamann is gonna survive Sven's Ikea makeover of City. Also, will they please get this damn Bresciano thing signed off already?

I fail to see how ArsenaLOL being on TV here is good for me. Gimme City-Derby!!!
Huh? You're playing West Ham to open the season, which is on FSC....

Sat Aug 11 09:55AM Eastern
Length: 2 hr 5 min LIVE
FOX Soccer Channel (FSC) - US
English Premier League
West Ham United vs Manchester City

Whats bullshit is that they're not showing Bolton - Newcastle on FSC. Come on now it's Fat Sam's first game as the Toon manager at his old ground.

It's on Setanta. I forget what the rules are for slitting up who gets what games between FSC and Setanta.

The problem is that Setanta is not on digital cable here :( I hope there's a good stream of it somewhere on Saturday. Maybe I can catch a bar or something.

qft. They need to get on that.

Here's some US Open Cup scores from last night:

Richmond Kickers 0 - 1 Carolina Railhawks
FC Dallas 2 - 1 Charleston Battery
Colorado Rapids 0 - 5 Seattle Sounders (WTF?)

The Revolution are going against the Harrisburg City Islanders right now in Foxboro. I really wish I saw that Colorado - Seattle game because I've never seen such a pounding by a USL team.

I would totally :lol at this if GaLOLaxy hadn't shat the bed against the RICHMOND MOTHERFUCKIN' KICKERS.

4am match = sleep deprivation...the things i do for the Arsenal tut tut
Yeah, that kind of thing is what drove me out of following Formula 1 racing real close.

Related: I'd rather have 4 than 7 in the am. At least you can drink at 4 in the morning and play it off as an extension of your Saturday night shenanigans. 7 am on a Saturday? That's straight up alcoholic territory right there. :(

Wes said:
^ Spurs fan are ya?

lol yup. That's me. Yay...Spurs.

That was me the next morning after my 21st, still hammered. My gf got me the new away and my friend's gf got me the scarf in London when she was studying abroad.

I was drunk at 7 for the bus trip to DC this year. That might be a little different though.

As soon as you sleep, Saturday is over.So if u wake up at 4am and drink, u're pushing boundaries.A beer doesn't count tho...football and beer go well together.

Nani looked good tonight, and he took his goal well, I think he has shown the ability to slip straight into the first team without easing him in for a few seasons like I once thought, Anderson looked okay, didn't do anything to extravagant but got the fundementals right and his pace was a little off, this is to be forgiven due to his injury at Porto and it being pre-season.

You're a City fan, that's par for the course.

Not sure what I'm doing this Saturday...Fox Sports World Canada doesn't have the Arsenal game listed. I could go to one of the bars as they pick up FSC (and I know one would be open early enough), but the thought of doing an hour trip on transit at 6am on a Sunday morning doesn't exactly leave me thrilled. At the same time, I'm not counting on a lot of myp2p links for the game either. Bleh...I'll figure something out.

U know, after seeing the 3rd Jersey, this one is really growing on me

It's even nicer up close. The script writing on the jersey is in a faint silver and when you're up close to it, looks amazing.

I'm watching Fox Soccer Report right now and it turns out that RBNY's own Jozy Altidore is on the cover of FIFA 08!
