There's tons of great beers here but I wish I could get every beer from around the country at least in certain specs. Though one of my favorite semi-local beers is Genesee from Rochester. $10 for a 30 pack and it doesn't suck? What a dream!

Galarcep's guess at tomorrow's US lineup against Brazil:

-------------------Dempsey----------------------

Beasley-----------Donovan---------------Wolff

------------Feilhaber------Bradley--------------

Pearce-------------------------------Cherundolo

--------------Onyewu---Bocanegra--------------

---------------------Howard----------------------
I'm not sure why he's obsessed with having Wolff on the right wing.

That's the lineup we put up against one of the top ranked teams in the world? Fuck.

Who else would you put in there? There aren't a lot of options available at the moment.

UNITED STATES ROSTER vs. BRAZILl
Goalkeepers (2): Tim Howard (Everton FC), Chris Seitz (Real Salt Lake)
Defenders (7): Carlos Bocanegra (Fulham FC), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Jay DeMerit (Watford FC), Oguchi Onyewu (Standard de Liege), Heath Pearce (Hansa Rostock), Frank Simek (Sheffield Wednesday), Jonathan Spector (West Ham United)
Midfielders (6): DaMarcus Beasley (Glasgow Rangers), Michael Bradley (SC Heerenveen), Bobby Convey (Reading FC), Clint Dempsey (Fulham FC), Benny Feilhaber (Derby County), Kerry Zavagnin (Kansas City Wizards)
Forwards (4): Davy Arnaud (Kansas City Wizards), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy), Eddie Johnson (Kansas City Wizards), Josh Wolff (1860 Munich)

Common ICELAND, we want to win the group. Great match between Sweden and Denmark, Ibra was a beast. We really should have fucked the cheating Danes.
Cheating? What the hell are you talking about?

I think 0-0 was a fair result. Sweden had the biggest chances but overall we (Denmark) played better. You should be thankful that you have Zlatan and Elmander because the rest of the team is quite ordinary (Wilhelmsson has lots of potential as well but he doesn't seem too comfortable playing in the midfield).

Haha, what? We played better and had the best chances. Still, you're out of the race so it's all good.

Well not cheating exactly but dirty (especially Gravensen and Poulsen), and I didn't mean this match but in general.

And the Swedish team wasn't that great. Some players were missing (Ljungberg for example) and other players should have started instead (Kennedy, Källström & Shaaban). But Denmark isn't really that much better. You should be thankful that you have (insert anyone who was good).

And Ibra had fun dancing with your defence.

I dunno it just feels like our lineup could be better. For some reason I want Bornstein out there.

Portugal - Poland is 2-2 FT.

Poland are virtually through now, Portugal have quite a fight on their hands to hold off Serbia and Finland now.

Again, Iniesta just extended Aragones' life line..... They should've have won this game... it's getting too hot there now.

I agree that you had better chances but only because Zlatan and Elmander were at the top of their game. Sweden played very primitive football consisting mainly of long balls.

Gravesen doesn't play for Denmark anymore. As for Poulsen he isn't any worse than, say, Elmander who sometimes makes some nasty tackles and is quite the diver as well.

And the Swedish team wasn't that great. Some players were missing (Ljungberg for example) and other players should have started instead (Kennedy, Källström & Shaaban). But Denmark isn't really that much better.
We were missing players as well so that isn't much of an excuse. Kennedy and Källström didn't make much of a difference anyway. It's the first time I've seen Kennedy play but Wilhelmsson seems like a much better player. Maybe Kennedy works better in the midfield but technically Wilhelmsson is much better.

You should be thankful that you have (insert anyone who was good).

As did Grønkjær with yours. Nilsson is still dizzy I think.

just saw some brief highlights on SSN, nice run and goal. The sending off looked very harsh, didn't look intentional at all. Not like I'm complaining of course

he refused to play at the under 21 Euro this summer to prepare for this season and give himself a better chance to play at the actual Euro.

It was obvious that there was going to be some kind of a reaction, but they went way overboard I thought.

Then again, the English fans think that players owe them something, I find that their behaviour can be disgraceful at times (McClaren in Andorra for instance).

No kidding. I thought you were in Enger-land for some reason. My roommate and I are having a few beers up here in the Bay Area.
You actually expected an Arsenal fan to live in Angleslande? :lol

That was actually a pretty smart thing to do from Bentley.

He is such a young player and the fans think it's good idea to throw him off-balance by booing him every single time he gains posession of the ball in a game that England is going to win anyway?

I can imagine them eating pie, burping and thinking "What the hell, sort of boring isn't it? Ah there's Bentley BOOOO!".

A German commentator said that a game in St. Pauli with an attendance of 15.000 has more flair and atmosphere than the England game today and they don't boo their players when they are winning 3:0.

And while I'm at it, there was a very embarrasing and weird moment just before the Germany - Wales match started. First off, the Welsh fans booed after our national anthem was over, which wasn't sung but only played instrumental btw. (While the Welsh anthem received the usual treatment with singing and stuff). Then the players and the fans were asked to pay respect to a local football legend that died recently with a minute of silence.

It seems like the stadium authorities forgot to repeat the announcement in German as the whole German fanblock used the opportunity to scream and sing at the top of their lungs which the Welsh fans and players tried to overcome by clapping furiously in order to drown the yelling with some other noise and shaking their heads at the dumb krauts.

P.S. Shhhh hadareud.

The Women's World Cup starts Monday, I didn't realise. It's quite good timing actually, with the lack of domestic action. It's in China so I think the games are all midday, but if you can catch it it might tide you over.

I don't actually mind watching women's football anyway, but if it's not for you it could just be worth watching for the Scandinavian talent. And if that doesn't do it for you, who can resist the chance to laugh at the poor little goalkeepers barely able to kick the ball over the halfway line?

Top tip, don't go through the Argentinian women's profiles because you saw a hot blonde Argentinian fan in a crowd once, my penis has actually inverted itself, possibly in an attempt to become a lesbian and find these trolls attractive.

ugh we did we lose today, if we'd have won we'd be 3 points ahead of Spain. O well we're not going to qualify anyway, we're pretty shit away from home I expect sweden and Spain to both beat us and that'll be the end of that.

Brilliant, the Brazilian women just use single names like their men, so look forward to seeing Elaine, Barbara, Monica and Ester soon.

They're still all better than Fred.

Galarcep's practice report....

Hey folks, here are some observations from Saturday's Brazil practice:

Brazil worked on free kicks and Ronaldinho's placement was as deadly as you would expect.

Ronaldinho was asked about playing in MLS and he handled it diplomatically, saying his focus was Barcelona but that it's intriguing for all players to consider playing in the United States.

Kaka really has a movie star vibe about him. If I'm starting a team from scratch I think he gets the nod at this point.

Kaka mentioned DaMarcus Beasley as one of the players he knows and called Beasley a friend.

Some reporters in attendance insisted on pointing out the fact that the United States practiced together all week while Brazil showed up today and had one light training session. How much practice does Brazil really need? Is Dunga going to spend a practice session game-planning for Clint Dempsey? Brazil basically roles the balls out and plays. Dunga doesn't exactly have to do too much pre-game coaching.

Starting Alves makes some sense since he's faster than Julio Baptiste, who really is a beast. Baptiste's physical strength will serve Brazil better against Mexico on Wednesday than the Americans.

When I first heard that fans were being charged $20 just to watch Brazil train I thought the idea was pretty ridiculous. After watching Brazil train I think you can argue that those fans got more entertainment for those $20 bucks than fans at some professional games around the world.

That's all for now folks. I'm off to the Globe for some beers. Check back in on Sunday for extensive game-day coverage of USA-Brazil.

I was one of those pissed off English fans, it was such an unbelievably shit performance that first half there were no words to describe it, couple that with the shite performances the games before that first half it was the final straw.

Booing Crouch wasn't justifiable though, no reason for it because he did nothing wrong at all.

I don't think England fans would be so annoyed if the players didn't get paid so much and the expenses just to watch them play particularly if fans, pay loads to see the team play shit and not play English style football we love the Premiership for.

I think the Bentley booing was just a bit of pantomime because we were 3 nill up (he deserved something for not showing up for the u21s), for Phil Neville though..we really meant it.

a little reception was ok, but booing at every ball contact was a bit too much I think.

The Andorra thing - I am ok with voicing your displeasure at your teams display, after all they have to know when they've done shit.
But the way it was delivered was way over the top I thought. There's a certain way to do things and this wasn't remotely it I thought. Of course I understand the frustration and I also know that not everyone behaved the same way.

But well, it also pisses me off when people leave the stadium before the game is over, regardless of the score. It pisses me off when your own team and players are being criticized and sworn at. It pisses me off when people start moaning in the stadium and bring the mood down.
So I might not be the best judge.

I feel if you are lucky enough to get a ticket for your team, be it England or your real team, I think you have a duty to support them the right way. In the end of the day the moaning will not help the team, it's as simple as that - it has the opposite effect.

I'm not saying that you have to wank off your players if they play shit and with a shitty attitude either though.

Its not as if the FA give out the tickets for free is it? If you have paid good money and you feel you are being short-changed by incompetence(Mclaren) or lack of desire(Bentley) Booing is perfectly acceptable. As for the booing having no effect, plently of players ARE motivated by negative comments so it can help.

Meh, if you'd seen the huge queue of people waiting for the tube you'd have left early too. Game was over anyway, none of those people would have left if it we still needed a goal.

There's no lack of desire by Bentley. He was in the senior squad, he shouldn't have been called up for the England U21s. And people seem to forget that, had he played for the U21s when he was already tired, he likely wouldn't be in as fit a state as he is right now and wouldn't be the asset to England that he is.

He also has the desire to be in the Euro 2008 squad, which he has a decent chance of making, but Pearce being the tosser he is didn't care that Bentley plays every Blackburn game and wouldn't have had a summer off 3 seasons in a row, which would have destroyed his form. Most players take quite a while to recover from just having one summer taken up by an international tournament.

of course you pay for the tickets, but that's not the point. I mean, you go to the stadium for good football and for good atmosphere. As a supporter you also have a bit of responsibility too, because the good atmosphere doesn't come from nowhere. I don't know how it is for England games, but Arsenal tickets aren't easy to get - so if you don't plan on supporting your team, stay at home and save some money.

You don't have to sing all game if you don't want to, I don't as I'm too dense in the stadium.

I also said that there's no reason to not voice it if you are unhappy, but as I said there's two ways of doing it. I don't think that the Bentley thing was anything special though, it just wasn't necessary.

The McClarren thing in Andorra is a different thing, it was ridiculous how it was done imo.

But everyone thinks different on those things, I'm not telling anyone how they should behave. It's just my opinion.

the leaving thing annoys me, I wasn't talking about yesterday though, at 3-0 it's obvious that people will leave. I know what it's like on the tube, it's a pain. That's why I stay and have a pint or two after the game. 3 aren't out of order either.
