Official Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas topic

What kinds of other extras are in the game? I know they added lots of little new features, like dating, b-ball, and the arcade-game distractions, but did they get rid of the usual stuff like the rampages and random "checkpoint" missions (like the ones where you race trough different circular checkpoints without missing one to "win")? Granted, I kind of rushed through the first set of missions which gets you to the outside for the first time, but is all that stuff still in the game?
Yeah no rampage so far here either. :(

Is there any way to get CJ to lose muscle (to go back to a thinner frame, not a fatter one)? I didn't mean to get him as built as he is at the moment.

Woa, so I sneak into the airport and grab the Lear Jet (or whatever it's called) and take a tour of San Andreas. Unfortunately it was foggy as hell, so I couldn't enjoy the view. I was able to go up to Las Venturas, and down to San Fierro without a single fighter jet or whatever (yes I had 4 stars).

Aparently it's not easy surviving a plane crash. I bailed in SF, thinking I'd try and take some clothes back as a souvenier, but I died in the crash. But I came back at the SF hospital, not LS, and I have no stars! Also, my map has been totally cleared, even though I definitely didn't cover every inch of the map. I wonder if I have to sneak back into an airport to get back to LS...

LMAO @
the hippie + the mothership. Peter Fonda is hilarious

This game has been GREAT so far, the writing is pretty damn funny at times.

Get extremely fat, then go to the Los Santos GYM, and excersice only on the treadmill and bicycle, no weights.

I found the parachute on top of the building. It's a little stiff when controlling the direction of the chute, and it sucks that you can't fire your weapons while gliding down. Other than that it's pretty awesome seeing CJ catching some air.

For real?!?! Cause I just had the game lock up on me and I lost like three hours. I'm pretty sure that wouldn't have happened if I had been using my HDloader. Those loads times when changing clothes are pretty bad. I wonder why they didn't just use a menu system like create a player in THUG or something.

The first time I put it on HDLoader I got read errors towards the end, and the game would occasionally lock up. I just re-ripped it and it went fine, hasn't locked up with HD Loader since.

To those who have reached the other cities. Do you ever get new clothes other than the ones you can get in LS? I took a plane and snuck into SF, and didn't see new options for clothes. I'm guessing unlocking new stores is progress based? I hope so, because the current selection of clothes isn't enough.

They are unlocked. In LS there's also a Sub-Urban that I still have yet to unlock. Once you go through enough missions, I assume the yellow icon will appear on the front of the stores.

It makes sense. Why would you run around in a bussiness suit or some facy clothes near the beginning of the game, when you're nearly broke.

Has no one else found Vanilla Ice yet?

Holy crap is it ever expensive to pimp out your car. I would be so worried to even drive the thing if I got all that work done to it.

First FUCK UP I've found in the game:

Apparently you need 400KB to save a file. No prob. Problem was, I didn't have enough room. They don't bother telling me this until I actually TRY to save, and not only that, won't let me manage my card with the game still on. So I had to reset and start over. Pretty stupid if you ask me.

Well...it is only printed on the back of the DVD case.

Who would start a game without figuring out if they have enough room on their card? You could have also left the game on and gone and got another card. And while you're at the store return your defective game case that left out that crucial info.

Cut the guy some slack. I did the same thing thinking I would have enough room on the 8mb card. Most people only have one card. Too bad rockstar didn't offer the option to utilize the useless PS2 hard drive.

Uhm, to smash in the brains of any fools stupid enough to front?

Man, I'm getting too into this game. I was watching TV the other day and there was a scene where the camera was positioned behind a car. I felt myself wanting to hold L2 and rain down bullets on unsuspecting passerby.

Oh guys i had to post it.
I'm Grandtheftautowned!! Damn this game is good. Not just a more of the same ala Vice City but a nice and improved sequel. Nothing disappoint me so far and it's a blast playing.
Only thing so far i may not be totally for it later is the fact i can't seem to take the camera at the same time as the spray but hey, big deal.
And the game is fucking huge. Very immersive. I'm actually impressed in the same style i was impressed the first time i played GTA3. I though i would never live that again and i was wrong, dead wrong.
GOTY ---- EASY. Best PS2 game and it's worth the console itself. And even more, i would say it sounds like this could one of the best games of all time. It's pretty much rare i'm tripping over a game like this...

It isn't the game's fuck up as was posted. How is not making sure there is enough room on your memory card to save the game the game's fuck up?

I got stuck on Cesar's race mission. Lowriders are shit for racing, especially since they spin 360 on turns and curves.

Really? I found that race incredibly easy. Did you upgrade your car with nitros?

Nope, but I didn't think it would matter since the damn car has shitty handling and the street is crowded with cars. But I'll try that later tonight.

I am in LOVE.

Bailed out of work early, picked this up (Bard's Tale wasn't in yet, boo) and started playing last night. Didn't stop until 3 AM today. The storyline, characters, targeting, clothes, workout - awesome awesome awesome awesome! And don't get me started on the vastly improved vehicle physics! Low-ride-UH!

Anyone else having difficulty getting the timing down on the lowrider bounce mini-game? It seems a little random...

Finnaly completed all the missions in the first city...I struggled on a few, but nothing was really too bad. The mountains are simply the best. I can see myself spending hours just riding around on the quads and dirtbikes. I remember Rockstar hyping it in an interview as being the really kick ass thing and I didn't really buy into it...Now that I played it I can see what they were talking about.

CJ's reaction to Catalina saying she loved him was hilarious.

I had trouble the first time, but I got it the next time I tried. But I do agree that the timing is a little off. The conversation after that mission was pretty intense. I am loving this game.

The DDR stuff is weird...you have to time it to the beat instead of the circle, because every time I tried to aim for the circle I'd get bads, then I just hit the buttons the music and started chaining Perfects

Because every game I can think of that I've played that's saved on a memory card has checked for available space when booting up. Every time I've run out of space on a GC card (don't have enough PS2 games to fill up that card yet), the game always tells me as soon as it boots up, not when trying to save in-game.

I'm loving the atmosphere and the scope of the game. The radio stations are especially awesome. Damn if the framerates aren't killing some of the joy for me in some places, though. This holiday season works out perfectly... I can play this game to death until November, trade it in while it still has a high value, and pick up the inevitable PC version next year. I'll have tons of games to tide me over until then.

I still don't see how it is the game's fault. You only had to look on the back of the DVD case, then check your memory card to make sure you had enough space. I just see you blaming a game when you didn't do something pretty easy to do. That is like getting in a car, not looking at the gas gauge and then blaming the car when you run out of gas. But it has to be someone's fault, not the man in the mirror, right?

Oh man, I love the mountain bike!

I stole Mad Dogg's rhyme book then I hopped on the mountain bike right outside his mansion, rode it down the mountain and across half of downtown Los Santos. SO RAD!

:D

Its killing me but I think I have to hold out for the Xbox or PC version

OH MY GOD!!! (again)

When you blow up cars, sometimes the dead bodies stay in, slumped over the dashboard! Fucked up!

And there (at least) two rocket launchers now

Did anyone highjack thetrain yet? Its the new best way to get around San Andreas. Cut through that bull shit freeway/highway system and go right underground. Fast too. It takes like 5 minutes to circulate the entire map. I like it

Yeah, I have to echo most statements here and say its the best GTA I've ever played and one of teh best games of the year. This is a nice surprise, as I didn't follow this game much, if at all until a few days before its release. It has more character then VC, better missions, far more scope, and hey...I'm loving the atmosphere. Today I just drove around on my BMX...all around the first city for nearly an hour. The thing is, I didn't see all of it, or even close to it. I'd get off and kill a few guys, find a store where I could bet or get my hair cut, parachute off a skyscraper (fucking owns)...its just a fun game to play, no matter what your goal is.

Some of the dialogue and inflection in the character voices are hilarious. I built up allot of muscle and was walking on the beach, and this gay muscle guy came up to me and shouted "Damn! you are FWINE!". Cracked me up...

Got to love the various hair styles that you can find at different barber shops. Lots of shit I haven't seen since the 90s, and one of the barbers looks allot like Vanilla Ice.

Console GOTY so far...

Did anyone complete the City Slick mission for the driving school. OMFGWTFBBQ! Ive tried it like 30 times. The car they give you has shitty grip and spins out. DONT TAKE ANY DAMAGE. So very stupid.

LMFAO!!!

You can date girls in this game, and i was dating this real ghetto ass chick, and on the 1st two dates I took her to a fast food joint in the ghetto and she enjoyed her self. So I decided see how deep this A.I. was so I got a fancy ass car, and took her out to Rodeo(Beverly Hills more or less) to this fancy restraunt..So the date cutscene ensues and shes not having a good time at all. Once its over shes like "You aint got no taste nigga take me home"

So naturally I punch the bitch..Well A message pops saying "She no longer wants you to take her home you guys are over". And she begins to run, I chase after her, punching her and this cop whos in the area runs up telling me to stop. I keep hitting her until the cop starts hitting me, So I start fighting the cop, and she takes off running, I shoot and kill the cop but a stray bullet hit this pick-up truck which causes the driver to peel out...LMFAO...Just so happen is the girl is still running down the street and he runs right over her killing her.

LOL! Holy shit thats awesome.

Do you think Peter Molyneux is shitting in his pants yet? I mean, this game is delivering on promises HE made years ago.

Question: Is there an easy way to get fat in this game? Getting a buffed, high-endurance body is very simple and not even particularly time-consuming -- the exact opposite of real life.
