For Bike School, how do I do a stoppie that continues to the finishing marker? Every time I try what the game tells me I skid for about 10 feet and I'm still in the cone row

I managed to get silver the first time through in driving school, some took a few tries to figure out exactly what I was doing wrong. Like gattsu said, switching to 1st person view makes a HUGE difference in your accuracy, for the better.

I'm stuck on the last driving school mission. I keep going too fast over the hills, and I always fuck up somehow. It's not hard going on the initial straightaway, because I can stay on the tracks and avoid the traffic, but when it comes time for the turns I make a fool of myself. :(

I must once again post how much I'm loving this game. I honestly never expected it to be this good. I don't even care about Halo 2, World of Warcraft, MGS 3 etc.... right now. I wouldnt even care if they were delayed.

GTA:SA = GOTY

You sure you're leaning forward and using the regular brake and not the "hand brake?" Also don't just hold down the brake continuously.

Flying is real cool... I enjoyed the school a lot, though I'm not sure if I'll be able to get all golds. Helicopters were a nice surprise to me. Of course, I don't play flight games much at all so I doubt I'm a good judge for flight controls.

I'm stuck on the driving through the city and back test in the driving school. Can't finish it for anything. Got gold on majority of the others though (maybe 2 silver)

It took me a few tries to finish that test the first time. Set the marker to the end point, and PLAN YOUR ROUTE to take full advantage of the straightaways. The game sets less traffic in this mode than the regular game, so you should have plenty of room to maneuver. You can pause the game during the run to check the street map, btw.

I never use the handbrake in the game because of the changed controls from Vice City.

And I never thought about tapping the brakes...I might try that next game

Speaking of which, is gold doing perfectly on the tests? The best I've ever did on a test was 99% on the bike 360 and I still got silver

What was changed besides getting rid of dpad steering? I thought the handbrake was always R1?

The handeling is awesome now so if you get really good at the handbrake you can make some really nice turns. Try tracking down the Elegy...Awesome awesome car. It works really well with the handbrake.

Cars handle like real vehicles (more or less) now, meaning that doing things like trying to do 180s in voodoos will make you spin like a top, unlike in VC where you could powerslide around the city all day and keep the car as straight as an arrow. Oddly, this makes cars that were undrivable in the other games (Stallion, chopper bikes) a lot more dependable

Getting 100% on everything = gold. You can have 100.0 final position and 94.5 on damage taken and not get gold. I think this is how it goes at least (got so close to gold on that test when I have to slide into position and stick it/park in between those two cars).

Having not done any of these tests yet what besides bragging rights are the benefits of scoring gold in the various tests?

You unlock a car for 1) All bronze 2) All Silver 3) All gold, plus you get a boost to your driving skill, and unlocks races when you complete it. Man, if you're still in Santos you're going to be blown away once you get into the countryside and the other cities. :D

Yeah I haven't had much time to play with the baby coming and finishing up preparations in the room, and cleaning the rest of the house, hopefully this week before the missus actually goes in to labor I'll be able to get some playing time in. You know not that I'd rather play the game vs. have the child born... you know... I'm excited about that too... I guess...... ;)

Wow, I didn't know you were about to have a kid. Congrats! :) Good luck dealing with the odd mix of stress and joy.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming: Running over hookers with BMX bikes!

Oh, that changes quite a bit once your skill goes over half... cars get harder to fishtail.

Geez, car controls aside, how can complain about the flying controls? Have you ever tried to fly an actual airplane or something before? Though the real thing is obviously more advanced, the controls do mimic the actual experience well enough. Flying isn't easy, so how do you expect them to make it easier in-game?

All this awesome talk about it made me trade in my Xbox and get a PS2 and San Andreas. Good bye Halo 2, hello pimps, hookers, guns, mountain bikes, terrorist activity, etc.

lol, a name change would have been less dramatic.

Well, 15 hours of play time was all I could fit in over the weekend, but now I'm dead tired at work and nursing a pounding headache. A nap when I got home would be the best thing for me, but all freaking day I've been thinking about how I just unlocked San Ferria and finished the first mission at like 2:30 am this morning.... god the game has the hooks in me deep already. :D

As someone who LOVED the Smugglers Run series, there is no greater thrill than tooling around the mountain on the Sanchez. The only thing that could make this game better is if they busted out a perfect minigame that aped X-Com exactly or something.

I've finished all the available missions in the first area and I've taken quite a bit of the territory in the gang war, so my question is: When does the next area open up? I mean, do I have to take all baller's territory before new missions open up?

Take the street to the right and ride the middle over the trolley tracks. Keep to the middle. Slow down and go extremely easy on the gas at the point where you have to make the right-left and let off almost completely during the tricky long downhill righthander. Stick to the correct side of the road for that entire section. Use the skills learned during the 180 test to make a U-Turn without stopping, then do everything all over again. 100% should come quickly if you don't get idiot traffic that turns into you.

The hardest driving school test by far is the handbrake 90 parking... The closest I've gotten is a 92% so far.

Uh, what the hell?? I was driving a taxi and got plowed into by an invisible flaming trolley. There was just a shadow and flames. My taxi got caught on fire and wedged against a building so I couldn't move. I lost everything I had.

DAMN YOU INVISIBLE FLAMING TROLLEY

Question: Does getting a high score in all the video games do anything, or is it a diversion like pool and dancing?
I hope not. They kind of suck. The bee one is OK.

Pool, though, is surprisingly fun.

Well, pool does something in that it can earn you plenty of cash.

Uh, SaitoH, you haven't done all the missions in the 1st area then. San Fierro will unlock when you do...

I missed the lowrider race.

*coughs*

Anyway, loved that green sabre mission.

^w^

The races are all easy if you know how to use the handbrake. I did that race right over to the east of Las Santas with almost zero driving skill, and the lowrider first try with that crappy car you get from the mission, not done up. They're mostly about endurance, not speed. I LOVE the races through the countryside by the way.

Also, where is the pool table exactly? Is it in one of the 24/7s on the map?

2 things that are missing:

1)Where the EFFF is the 2 Live Crew songs?

2) A spanish station. Everyone who has been to/lived in LA knows you can't scroll through the radio stations w/o running into 2453 spanish music stations.

Ok, i've finally been able to put some good hourage into this game. It rocks a lot, i'm loving the gang-territory wars, sooooo much fun causing rukus and taking over some land.

Shit. Where is this driving school?

I got like 15 hours into this game already and I'm still restricted to Los Santos! :lol :( :(

I think I got like 10 missions left to do. I keep on doing side missions. Especially taking over gang territories! I've got almost all the Ballers area under my control and I'm getting some mad money for having all these areas under Grove control! I got like 50 grand right now with nothing to spend it on I need to get to Los Venturas quick!

BTW, for some reason, I find it easier to control control of areas by myself than with 5 gangsta buddies with me. Thier roody poo AI asses alway seem to get in my way.

Minor story spoilers just before entering San Fierro:
Catalina is hilarious. Shame that I won't see more of her now... I guess. Can't really go out and have her killed for obvious reasons.

GTA3 guy cameo was cool.

It's awesome. I let the game idle for a while, and then I came back, got a phone call. Guess who it was?

"PIG!!!"

Yeah, I got that one too about halfway through my San Fierro missions. I hope she "calls" more

And has anyone managed to successfully free the Beagle from the house's beams at Fort Carson?

Got a quick question here. Buddy's over at my place, and we want to play some 2 player rampages, but I can't find any. I've seen a few in San Fierro, but I can't remember where.

Anyone have a picture or anything that shows where some are? Or anyone know where ANY 2 player stuff is aside from the place right outside Denise's?

My handy strategy guide says....."Pershing Square Los Santos" for a rampage. and there's a 2 player Runaround in Idlewood..I'm looking at the maps but it doesn't show an exact location :(

edit: Yes it does.

Pershing square is just north of city hall(which is right above the twisting road in the middle of Verdant Bluffs)

south of downtown....west of the big freeway that cuts through town.

Awesome, thanks. We finished all of them for that one and didn't get anything (nor did it say COMPLETE or anything, it just made us re-do the same limit when we tried again). Do you not get anything for them?

And does anyone know where any other ones are now that we beat it?

I know there's one a couple blocks from the garage in San Fierro, but that may be the one that Fifty just described. It's in a little crevace, next to either a car or bike.

There's another one in one of the countryside towns. One person rides a motorbike while the other shoots. You have to take down a certain number of bikes in a given time, escalating until 10 in 1 minute. We did everything, but no bonus. It wasn't as fun as you'd think, too.

Heh, I only played up to the end of the first mission and I know this game is going to be better than Vice City. :D
There's so much more to do. And this time around, it's not just a collectathon to boost the %. This game is fucking awesome. I've had so many cool and close call moments. How can people thing it's not fit to be a GOTY contender?

Bah, I had to use the suicide cheat to get out of a wall I was stuck in. So now every time I save it says I have cheat codes enabled, and that it coudl fuck shit up.
