Official Konami Gamer's Day Thread - 2/1

I don't think these people have actually played the original Rondo and know how much the remake seems to be screwing things up.

At least they have the original + SOTN, which is totally worth your money alone.

Here's a vid of the original first level if you wait long enough so you can see what the remake's missing

I haven't played it, but I've seen a video before, and I agree. The most notable aspects are Richter's design and the music, but even the general animation and the colors are messed up.

Wow, you sure are impressed easily. And a remake of an older game is supposed to win the war?

If Square-Enix try to cash in on re-releasing FF7 on PSP in any form, that might help a little, but even that'd have trouble turning the tide.

yeah the storyline of Dewy and Elebits both seem retarded as hell (what is it with Konami and this 'turning natural elements into something living' concept anyway? Elebits had electricity, Dewy has water. Next one Fire or Earth?), but the ARTWORK is stunning. I love the ****ing art.

I'm very surprised by Dewy.

Wii is getting the interesting stuff far quicker than the DS did, which has to be a good sign. Especially from a 3rd party, and Konami at that!

this is two castlevania games, but neither of them has got anything to do with 1999.

...does anyone really care about 1999, btw? or castlevania stories generally? i don't, though i love the games.

I don't really care. I'm just trying to figure out of the PoR poster isn't a reliable source anymore. Previous everything she posted on gamefaqs or the cv dungeon was considered gospel truth. Now this paints a different picture.

Ummm.....

While she went on and revealed the news, she didn't say at all that the new games was supposed to be making its presence known at KGD either. There was hope, but never any comfirmation, either.

With this new PSP thing out and about, it's probably logical to assume that they're going to focus on marketing that...in (vain) hopes that maybe CV fans will end up buying a PSP, instead of just waiting for other news on the yearly DS installment and whatever else the future may bring.

In other words...think about how long those of us who wanted a new Rockman game on the GBA/DS had to wait before the time of the PSP games passed, and we started hearing news on ZX? Same basic principle here.

Haven't watched Dewy's yet, but Elebits had beautiful artwork combined with the worst English voice-acting in the history of videogames.

Baten Kaitos and Shining Force "Hot Stuff Coming Your Way!" Neo say hi.

But yeah, the voice is still corny. I don't mind, actually.

surely the Rondo remake is not taking too many resources, so i wouldn't doubt if at least one more CV game is in the works. Two always seemed fishy as the series isn't that popular. I bet the 1999 game is underway in some form, but we may not hear about it yet.

It would considering what a remake entails, as in new assets etc. Seems like Konami just wants to reuse old assets and polygonize a few things to get a game on the PSP to meet their contractual obligations.

Anyways just caught up on these series of announcements. Pretty underwhelming all around. Nice to see the Elebits team has a 2nd game so quickly but nothing earth shattering here.

So much for a "bunch of Wii games" and a game that will make people "squirm"... kinda disapointaton total for me.

I'm not trying to be a jerk but that looks like a SEGA AGES budget title from the screenshots.

EDIT: But it's still a definite purchase. I might have to look into getting a used PSP soon...

Actually, her response was to the EGM blurb..... which is now revealed to ALSO be just this. Credibility = shot.

Yeah, but the difference in userbase and software sales now made a Mega Man on DS a "no shit" idea for Capcom. This isn't really the same for Castlevania on PSP.

Maybe this is thier way of apologizing for what they did on the Gamecube.

Dracula X Chronicles sounds outstanding. Nicely done, CV-team. :D

Dewy's Adventure looks quite cool, and the Elebits team showed that they have a lot of talent and potential in their last game, so this one definitely bears keeping an eye on. It's funny... the big criticism I had about Elebits was that I would've preferred something more along the lines of an adventure game, and now the same team is delivering one. No complaints here.

And I just saw more of the art/screens on Dewy... wow. This game really looks excellent.

I personally couldn't care less about the remake to me it is just a bonus that comes with the Dracula X/SOTN combo.

But I will still play it and enjoy it:)

squirm or squirt? *confused*

I do believe that this is it though. The three big sites got their exclusive stories (lol gamespot) - the chances that Konami held something back to announce it themselves are getting slimmer and slimmer with every passing minute.

Er, using living creatures to represent elements is the oldest thing in the book... whether you like it or not, remember how mana had Undine, Salamander and so on -- and it still wasn't Square's invention either... lots of mythologies were used before that.

Of course, you might not like it. But it's not like it's new stuff, y'know? :)

Where are the bunch of new wii games?!

Well that part was never claimed to be anything more than a rumor

Anyway... it seems that all the sites got an exclusive that was pre-arranged with an embargo... I don't think we've actually gotten any live news from the conference yet... of course, this may be all there is..

No I just mean, of course that concept is as old as mankind. But they are following a very specific pattern for these Wii games.

Each game is like a 'fairy tale' story come to life, with a telling by a narrator. With art stills instead of cutscenes. And then the real center character is an element come to life... in Elebits it's electrical creatures, in Dewy it's a single water creature that must save the world.

It would not surprise me if they create a game about fire and Earth next. They would call it the "Elemental Quadrilogy."

Wow, what a safe gamers day.

The PSP Castlevania looks nice, but personally I can't get into yearly Castlevania titles...I skipped PoR for that very reason. And i've already played SotN.

Dewey's Adventure? I don't even know what's going on in the video.

What happened to wind? It could be the elemental quintet!

No, this is Konami's payment for Snake in SSB (like I thought). :)

No...

She never made the "two 1999 games" as something like a "response to the EGM blurb". She did that on her own, seperately. She just quite literally came back on the GameFaqs forums one day and just posted her blurb, not saying anything more about whatever EGM said whatsoever.

She did say something about the PSP title around the same time we were squaking about it after some one leaked it from PLAY. But that's about it.

At this rate, I'm willing to relent and think that maybe she was possibly mistaken that there would be two 1999 titles, when one was probably going to be this PSP release. But we'll see...

Rumour country? or the games graveyard?

as has been pointed out before, there's no way that PSP game is draining Konami's resources. It's likely a very small portion of the CV team is working on it. Another game is in the works, but we won't know what it's about or what system it's for until CV PSP has had it's moment in the sun. It makes sense anyway

There's obviously still a third DS Igavania in the works, and it could easily be 1999-related. And maybe if 2.5D Rondo is well received, there will be a 2.5D version of the 1999 game released on the Wii as well.

Rumors solved.

Well, even if the event is over it's not been a total waste. I mean Derps is gonna sleep really good tonight and that's gotta count for something.

Nah, I see where you come from. While I have nothing against these "Elemental Series" from Konami, I'm still curious to see what they can do on other genres (sci-fi, action adventures etc...). Nothing keeps them from developing other games in the meantime anyway.

What can I say? After Guitar Freaks and Elebits, Mukaitoge has gone up on ranking for me.

I do get a very similar vibe from them and I can definitely see them as parts of an overarching bigger series - but you make it sound like that's a bad thing. I kinda like the idea of loosely tying these games together (even though it's still all speculation) :)

If this is seriously all there is, what a disappointment.

Dewey looks pretty neat, but I'm not interested in Coded Arms and another Castlevania, particularly when it looks garbage.

Konami FTL.
