Official Konami Gamer's Day Thread - 2/1

The Castlevania whine fest, is some of the most humorus thing ive ever seen. Wonder if "nintendo" fans complained so much when Castlevania came out for the Genesis, after coming out for the SNES.... Wish there was a Gaf back then.

and Sony fans making this as some savior ... :lol

Regardless, Im curious to see why theres a 24hr embargo on some new stuff... if there is more stuff..

hopefully its not hellboy ps3/Wii

Gamespot had that Hellboy 360 abortion. Besides that, there were no big announcements made ... yet.
Kohler and Remo seem to know more but are under embargo.

Who's doing that?

The game is likely going to bomb, unfortunately. There is no savior here, just a really good game that a lot of people want to play. It's not going to save the platform or anything, though.
 
I just want to know one thing from the guys under NDA: is it cool? Just tell me if it's cool and worth getting excited for. Surely there isn't a line in the agreement that states "You are not to tell anyone anything regarding the coolness of the game, how much it pwns, or whether or not it roxxed you".

No, it won't bomb. We've been asking for Rondo since like the horrible SNES "version", this is one Castlevania the fans in NA/Europe will eat up.

If i'm not mistaken, most NDA's do have a "coolness" clause of some sort.

3 or 4 years ago the internet wasnt so much of a problem... its actually related to how you can get news on gaming websites quicker than on gaming magazines leading to weaker sales for magazines. Some mumbo jumbo like that.

Yeah, I just hope it gets ported to PS3... I'm a huge Hellboy fan but won't be getting a 360. =\

the SNES version might not have been better but it was in no way horrible

Well, comparatively it's horrible. Shit level design that wasn't faithful to the original ruined its chances of being an acceptable version. Though some of the background and music was actually improved...but yeah...

Since this is under NDA, maybe it's more of a bombshell kind of announcement than Dewy?

I hope so.. Dewy is very cool and with the level builder, it could end up being way better than most are expecting, just because of longevity... But obviously it's not a bombshell or anything. It lacks a certain "megaton" quality that I've come to expect here on GAF.

now let's be real... I wanted this as much an any castlevania fan but this is going bomb

hell if VCS bombed which is part of a franchise that's way more popular than castlevania what makes you think this is not going to bomb?

Except back then, SNES got the ports/remakes (SCV4, Dracula XX) while Genesis/PCE got the new entires (Bloodlines, Rondo). :P

Not that I don't think a bomb will be dropped (lol) on Monday, but the site doesn't have any mention of the games that were announced YESTERDAY under news. What are the chances those games being uploaded to the website constitutes those earth shattering events and Konami's PR line is just totally, "KONAMI HAS THE NEWS FIRST!!!"

I mean, who even SAID they were under NDA? Or did we just assume it and run with it?

I still want a new Goemon game, Konami! 2D style gameplay like from the SNES days, married with the nice "cel-shading" graphics that was used in the recent DS game!

That would be made of so much win...
 
WTF?! They never pulled this NDA crap before (only with MGS3 but thats understandable). It better be something interesting...like Silent Hill 5!!!

Initially it was a pretty slow mover though, not selling nearly as well upfront as the GBA/DS games... SOTN didn't really start moving units en masse until the GH rerelease (it was also one of the few GH games that hadn't met the "required" sales quota previously too iirc) though again, part of the problem rests with Konami'straditionally spotty initial release distribution and allotments.

I'm hoping "Wii Adventure Game #2" is either that (the core Goemon team from KCEO is still around working at PowaPuro Productions btw) or else a fully realized 3D cell-shaded Boktai from Kojima Productions.

Definitely leaning towards more of the former, instead of the latter...:D

Besides, I thought, personally, that Kojima wasn't going to really bother with the Wii in any instance until MGS4 was completed. And since Boktai is still more or less his baby, I would think he would rather be right there to guide its baby steps on the platform, instead of just sitting back and letting some other pals from his studio spear head that effort.
