Official Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess thread

Surely the best way to deal with the assaulter though was to sic 500 bloodthirsty flying friends after him though! :D

My GF suggested that cause TP had more of a 'animal lover' feel to it they made you take the chickens point of view and then supposed to feel remorse about doing it to begin with.

I must say instead of the chicken hitting I had more fun chucking rocks and pots etc at people, now they actually have "omg I got hit by a rock" animations it makes it more funny to do. :lol :lol

Btw, theres a chest outside the castle town its in like a fountain - around the area where that Goron and the boulders are and sometimes the bug girl is out there..... how do you get that chest?
Grapple hook the tower/column thing to the left of the entrance (facing Hyrule town), drop down, then use the spinner on the rails there and jump out about halways through.

And did anyone discover a point of taking over control of a chicken?

well i found out that there is a arch where you can go up to using the clawshot.. but i dont know how to go to that chest

Cheers got that chest, I grappled up then dropped down a level to like half way up the arch pillar thing to where the spinner track was.

No more chest sitting there taunting me! :D

I didn't mean to say they should make a MM rip-off. God no. I meant to say it should be equally original and inventive, as MM was to OOT, in which case it would a fresh new experience and also quite a different game from MM yet retain some of the Zelda legacy.

And I'm not talking just about names and story either. I'm talking about core gameplay elements in the same way that OOT introduced the day/night thing and playing the ocarina and MM gave us the three day, flexible limit and complex daily routines for the characters (and many more). The biggest letdown with TP is that it gives us no such new core element. Everything is scripted, nothing is flexible in the same way that the ocarina was. Come to think of it the ocarina was one damn powerful object.
I didnt mnean to say that they should make an MM rip-off. I want to see Nintendo create a zelda thats different to the traditional zelda games, just like MM was. I'd love to see a zelda game set in an environment thats completely different to any zelda game that we've seen, along with new characters. The fighting and equipment system has worked really well, but even that should have a few changes made to it. I do enjoy playing the traditional zelda games like OoT and i do hope that Nintendo keep making them, but Id really appreciate seeing a different type of zelda game.

Figuring it out was awesome, though. Though that one really warranted a heart piece.
Yeah, the effort you had to go through to get that chest was weird, considering that you found Heart pieces in like trees and stuff that didn't require any effort to get at all.

The entrance to the temple is at the very bottom of Lake Hylia, there should be a purple icon on your map denoting where it is.

You can only use bombs when you're walking underwater (ie put the iron boots on).

Hey guys a little help here, I'm in the 5th dungeon and I'm not sure what I'm suppose to do now. I've done everything except the puzzle with the blocks on the ice and the part where there is a snow monster on the stairs blocking me from going up. I still haven't figured out how to do the ice puzzle with the large blocks, so I'm completly lost as to what I'm suppose to do.

Also I asked for the ice block puzzle earliar and I still don't get it. I have 3 blocks and I can't arrange them to press the button on the ground.

You have to do the ice puzzle. You won't be getting any further in the dungeon until you do.

Ok I've been trying it for a while now, I have the three blocks and I've tried all the different ways of doing it. Am I suppose to get another block somewhere?

Yeah that was a tough puzzle.

If those blocks are in the position you put them in earlier in the dungeon (one on the button, the other right near it), push the one that's on the button across so it slides over the second button. Then push the third block down and across so that it gets stopped by block #2... now you should be able to push #3 up so that it goes over the second button and is stopped by block #1. Then just repeat what you just did with block #3 with block #1 and that block will hit the second button and be stopped right on the button by block #3. Puzzle solved.

No, you only need the 3 blocks to do the puzzle. Sorry, I don't remember how I solved it. It took me a while though. :lol

no, three blocks is enough. You don't want the solution spoiled for you, do you?

Whoa - what the hell? (Just saw the cutscene where
Midna reveals her curse.
)

Why was Midna
looking so evil when she formed the helmet from her hand? How did she have that power? Is it evil? What?

I am very confused.

I think she was just consumed with anger and lust for revenge for what Zant did to her. Like she told Link, she didn't care about what happened the Light World, she just wanted to restore peace to the Shadow World. She would go to any length, I guess. Midna has always been portrayed as someone in the gray areas between good (Link) and evil (Zant) so I think her reaction suits her.

edit:
As to how she could have that power, I believe that she said earlier in the game that all the inhabitants of the Shadow World descended from the magicians that used that kind of magic for evil, so I assume that magic is an innate ability of any Shadow Worlder (like Midna).

I spent a good 45 minutes trying to see if there was a way to get in there. Kept flying in on the chicken. You can see inside from the very top.

All I need now is a good (and dark) XP theme to go with this wallpaper. Anyone got any suggestions or know of any good sites for XP themes?

Everything looked gorgeous in the game but Midna and Ganondrof stroke me as the most charismatic of the whole group of main characters.

Now my main question?

Am I the only one wanting a Ganondorf spin-off game?

I'd like to see how he acted as king of the gerudos, I'd like to see his own castle, his own black horse, his army, HOW he gained the power of the gods, how many hazards does the people of his race had to endure, How he got respect from everyone. There is plenty of material with that guy.

It could work, but it would have to be done very carefully. You are essentially playing a character whose every move is evil and wrong and you have to identify with him, or at least feel some sympathy.
I can only think of a few movies and books where this has worked, and only one game that had this to some degree, SotC.

How do you take control of a cuccoo? I read that you have to hit it with your sword or something, but that hasn't worked. What do I do? O_O

Don't stop hitting it. It will happen eventually.

but he has his own reasons, which, If I understand correctly, were not evil on the first place.

according to ganondorf's own explanation in wind waker, the wind only carried death to the people in the desert and he wanted to occupy hyrule in order to make his race survive. That means he cared for his people, isn't it like that?

Well I beat the GC version last night at 21 hours, exactly half the time it took me to beat the Wii version. My final thoughts and comparisons:

Nothing about the GC version itself could've wowed me. I've already played through the game before and I knew what it had in store. So comparatively, this is unfair. However, that didn't mean I didn't enjoy it. I went back at different moments in the game to the Ordon kids and village, which was a nice little treat. I also tried to do as much as I did in the Wii version (though I ended up with far fewer hearts overall). I didn't skip cutscenes except the ones I didn't need to see (like the canon shooting Link).

So... my complaints with the GC version, was mainly with the HUD. It's so intrusive on the smaller screen. The map takes up a good portion of your lower-left corner of the screen. I do have to admit that it felt like "home" mashing the buttons in the fighting sequences instead of flicking my wrist. It made it feel more like a video game in a way I can't specifically explain. For some reason I was more into the cutscenes and story this time around (which I enjoyed more than the first go), probably because the controller isn't built for "combat." When holding the Wii remote, it feels like I'm constantly holding my weapon.

On the flip side, I found combat to be a bit more difficult on the GC. I was probably a little too sure of myself when facing off against the darknuts (because towards the end of the game, they almost handed my ass to me). With the Wii remote, I found myself really focused on the combat because that's really what that version was built around: enhancing the controls of your weapons. And boy, did I miss the spin attack at so many moments in the game.

Inventory management was not as bad as I thought it'd be. The game does a really good job of requiring only two items at a time, but the Wii version is still far superior thanks to the buttons being mapped to the D-pad. Aiming on the GC version felt old, since this is the fourth game with that same system. I really missed the point-and-shoot simplicity and accuracy of the Wii version, ESPECIALLY in the 7th dungeon.

Finally, one thing I did not miss from the Wii was the controller sounds that you'd hear. Now that I think about it, it probably took me out of the Wii version more than I thought.

What about the camera, how was it suddenly having a completely free camera?

Oh yeah! The camera! I found myself using it pretty casually later on in the game, but not needing it right away at the beginning (having most recently played Majora's Mask and the Wii TP). I really only used it later on because of the small, enclosed spaces (which felt smaller because it wasn't in widescreen), and I used it a lot to spin around as he put the sword away like a badass. I'll probably comment on the camera more once I revisit the Wii version to do more exploring and fishing and whatnot.

But is it something you think is missing from the Wii version? Or in other words, would you miss it if you replayed the Wii version now?

I don't know. I'll have to get back to you on that.

I guess if you weren't playing it on widescreen, you'd have a problem with them.
