Official Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess thread

Stupid question but does the game not let you save after you beat it? I figured it would just dump me back to Hyrule field after the credits rolled but it didnt. Just checkin to make sure I didnt miss the save or something.

You can't save...

That's one thing that annoys me about Zelda games. It'd be fun to just explore the world after it's been saved...

Has anyone
collected the cats in the western village to receive the heart piece?
. I wasted like half an hour on it and still couldn't find all of them. I think I'll look for other heart pieces first before returning to this one ;)

But it would also be fun to kick the main bosses ass over and over again. Although..I wish Zelda games were more like MM where they let you challenge every dungeons boss over and over again. That was awesome...Although..In MM there was a point to the bosses living again..

my favorite boss in Twilight Princess, the 3rd boss. so, so, so awesome in design. much better than the well-liked 7th boss IMO.

Morpheel F'ing owns all. the tenticles, the translucency, the way he emerges from his hole at the bottem with everything rumbling, and then the whole mother F'er comes out to play once you kill his first phase. just spec-fekking-tacular.

One tip: talk to one cat as a wolf, transform in human and take it to where the chicken is, they wont leave that area so you wont have to talk with the same cat twice.
There is one hidden cat between the first and second house to the right (Wii version) of the town entrance. You have to brake a a box/window/something (spin attack FTW) for it to come out I believe (it is behind a wooden wheel).
A second cat I had trouble finding was the one on the second floor of the cowshed/stable. You have to jump from the roof of the building next to it.

I loved that in MM...
In TWW you only fight the temple bosses twice though :( ...
I wish there was some kind of boss rush mode, that would be great...

I'm having some trouble with
fixing the Eldin bridge. It seems I don't have the needed warp location to eldin bridge, so I went to Eldin province in hopes that the Twilight creatures would appear so I could get the warp but nope. Do I have to do something to trigger them to come?

OK, I hope I'm thinking of the thing that you're having trouble with.

There should be a bunch of Twilight Creatures on one side of the Eldin Bridge. To get there, you need to go to the bridge from the Lake Hylia side (not the Kakariko side). You should then come into contact with the creatures - defeating them will create a warp portal above the Eldin Bridge. Go back to Gerudo, and then warp the bridge piece to Eldin. That way the bridge will be successfully repaired.

Hope that helps.

The story for now, at the begin of the third dungeon, is not better then OoT and Majora's Mask, but I expect some change very soon. Anyway, it is a solid story with GREAT cut-scenes.
I have a little bit focused the problem of yesterday: in Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and The Wind Waker, Link was unknown. He was a simple little boy with nothing special that began to save hyrule with his forces that grow up in the adventure. Understimated from the begin to the end, but only 1-2 people, he interpreted exactly the part of the silent hero.
Now, Link is already considered a hero. When I heard for the first time some critics of Link's tunic in the town (you know which), I was slighty compforted, but the general impressions is that Link is already considered like a hero.

I explain this point better: Miyamoto has always said that Link cannot be too human, otherwise we cannot identify ourself with him. That's ok. BUT, if you gives Link more sentiments then before, he has to speak. Otherwise, it is a contradiction. And the effect is all, but good.
And in this game, we can see clearly that the story comes from a woman, that are traditionally more sentimentals then men. Link has sentiments, but he cannot make them explicit. It was by far better a Link without sentiments that didn't speak: the silent hero for definition.
The other possibility is something like Lloyd Irving in Tales of Symphonia, that says always what he thinks na dhe's sentimental to the impossible, or McCoy in Star Trek: really, really a human.
Well, I understand that EAD tried to make a game for all Zelda's fans. In fact this is really a production that we can expect only every 5 years, and the quality is really high, but the Link in Twilight Princess is not the Link of the past: it is something between a silent hero and a true hero with his own personnality. The lack of voice is fatal here.

Who has sentiments and expessions has to speak. But you can say: Link is The Wind Waker had expressions too and he cannot speak. Yes, but he was a child. And a child has only limited sentiments and the only thing he can really do is to be surprised by the events or become angry, because of a certain situation. The formula worked. In Twilight Princess, there is something that "doesn't sound very good".

Don't take this post wrong: Twilight Princess is an amazing game. One of the best of last 5 years, but the character "Link" doesn't appeal me for now. And this is why sometimes I don't feel this game like a true Zelda. We'll see after the Third Dungeon what'll happen. Perhaps I'll change my opinion.

I just got the key from THIS room:

but after following to the nearby door (next to the chest) I don't know what to do. I even tried IGN's guide and it says: "Continue to the foyer go through the door to the northwest and unlock the door here and continue on."

What's the foyer? :( Anybody knows what should I do next?

That pic isn't 'spoilerish' but if I can't post it let me know.

I took a Cuckoo all the way down via the chicken game at the top of the lake. Carefully landed on one of those "arm" ledges, opened the chest, and then shot over to the other chest via that target. I'm pretty sure it's the only way you can get up there.

Does anyone want to explain how to get to the freakin' chest right outside of the South exit of the castle town? It's in the middle of the fountain. Man. ;)

[Edit: No wait, I don't want to know! I've avoided hints totally so far, and I'll try to keep that up until the end. ;)]

20 years, actually. As everyone know, Zelda hasn't evolved at all but people still buying it. I wonder why.

hah.. thanks. I feel like an idiot. I didn't even know i had to turn into a wolf, which, of course makes perfect sense. I had about 19 cats just following me around as Link. It was funny actually.

Just finished the game. As awesome as it was, I just didn't feel like it was really over. The final boss was a push over and just didn't feel right. Maybe I need to finish the side quests to get a better feeling of completion. I also agree with what Mithos said about Link's character. Maybe it's time they abandon the silent hero and actually give him a voice.

Who the **** plays Zelda for plot/charactization??

As shocking and odd as it may sound, that is a major part of the overall experience when playing a Zelda game, for me at least.

Component cables are a godsend.

I have nothing else relevent to contribute to this thread, but felt the need to share since I just got em.

For me too, which this game sucked with. Also the music, other than that it was pretty cool.

Not the best game ever by any means, nor Zelda.

Unstickied?

Negativity?

Not a good game?

What the hell is the world coming to. I wish the game went on forever. I loved every bit of it. A lot off the reviews gave their lowest score to the Music. But the music was amazing. I loved the music in so many places its just so deep. Like when,

when midna is almost killed, and Link escorts her to Zelda as a wolf
the house of the girl who wants bugs

They are 2 that I can remember, but the whole game had way more. Like in cutscenes and stuff, they were amazing.

There needs to be an announcement, nobody is allowed to say the game doesn't meet expectations until they are past the 3rd or 4th dungeon, it seems this is happening way too often.
I never said that

making my way through zelda, but very slowly -- i just haven't been in a gaming mood lately. second dungeon is disappointing. its architecture is really cool, but it's almost completely linear, and while it's got some interesting obstacles, i'm not sure it's got anything you could call a puzzle. i hope there isn't too much bullshit between the second and third dungeons.

that sounds overly negative -- i really liked the first dungeon, as well as some of the random non-dungeon segments. the game's got a lot of character -- the cutscenes with the ordon kids are pretty basic, but they're charmingly done.

Third dungeon is much much better

EDIT: Malo rocks

The second dungeon was probably my least favorite one, so I can understand. The third one is pretty challenging (I thought) in terms of figuring some stuff out.

Right now I'm going back to get to get pieces of heart that I missed and I'm at the underwater temple and trying to get the piece of heart in the room w/ the revolving platforms.... to get to the place where i believe the peice of heart is I must raise the water level to raise a bridge to get across to this room. Is there anyway to raise the bridge after you have completed the dungeon?

I loved the music that played after you beat a boss. When the piece of whatever is floating down towards Link with that deep "engine" sound (for a lack of a better word).

That and the song that plays on Hyrule Field are the only two really memorable songs for me. Oh wait, I forgot about
the song that plays in Malo's Castle Town shop.
:lol

The Faron Woods tune is one of the nicest things I've heard in a long time.

edit: people who complain that TP lacks some sort of 'Zelda-ness' have never been in Malo's Castle Town store. :)

I just went through the cave of ordeals... wow. I started with 4 fairies and completed the last level with 5 hearts / no fairies left!! By far the biggest challenge in this game.
That last battle was so hard. Is there an easy way to beat those guys? Most of the time I'd circle around them to hit them or do a spin but I lost a lot of hearts in the process.

Anihawk, would you please mind uploading the ending credits theme again? I thought I had it, but apparently my version is corrupt. :(

Edit - What the hell. Apparently it's not corrupt. But nothing save for Nero Showtime can recognize/play/tag it. WTF?

I went through cave
of ordeals a second time, not repeating the same thing, but a second time after saving when i beat it the first time. it's somewhat more difficult. on the 2nd run, there are 4 darknuts instead of 3. it really isnt that hard. i used bombs and time it so they explode just behind them as they walk toward me and just keep moving behind them and doing backslice.
most fun enemy to fight.

I finished this game last week but somehow i still want to go back to it.
truly one of the best game i've ever played.
