Official Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess thread

What was everyone's favourite moment in the game?

Honestly for me there are hundreds to choose from, but I'm giving mind to the first time I had Epona and went in Hyrule Field. The first time you go into the Field, you're just Link and it feels a bit slow (especially given the subdued music). Then when you hop onto Epona later on, the music flares up and the sense of speed is amazing. I spent at least 3 hours just racing around, shooting birds with arrows and trampling on those creepy stick-legged creatures outside Faron Woods. Incredible stuff, I'll never forget that feeling.

Actually I don't really regret it. It was easy to give him the 2000 rupees since the game throws so much money at you for some unknown reason.
Yeah, what's up with that? By the end of the game there's no use for money.

Just curious. Is it truly "unlimited" like you all say or does he just fill up your bag?

He gives you 200 every time you talk to him. Guess he has to do something with that pile of gold

For the most part rupees are absolutely worthless. They may have been helpful if the game was challenging (
ie, third armour being relevant
), though.

24 bugs..omg where the hell am I supposed to find all of them O_o

It's actually not that hard if you know that every big area has them, and that a couple of the same species is always found in the same area. So if you have one of the pair, and you read the location info about, you basically have the other one too, they're not that hard to find.

You can get a 600 rupee wallet by freeing the Goron trapped in the rock at the bottom of the pool in the Zora throne room. Not as big as the wallet Agitha gives you, but easier to get.

How?

What do you do to rocks in Zelda games?

Edit: Just noticed the mistake that Mejilan pointed out.

Trust me, it's a lot easier than finding those stupid poes.

Question: Are all the bugs on Hyrule Field only? I have about 10 left to find.

Buh? That's not true.
Freeing the underwater Goron (with water bombs) from the stalagmite nets you a Bomb Bag. If you want Wallet Upgrade #1 (600 capacity), bring Agitha a matching pair of bugs. Want #2 (1,000 capacity), bring her all 24 bugs.

By the castle? Just visit her at her home in Castle Town.

Edit - NOT all of the bugs are in Hyrule Field. You'll have to look around elsewhere for the more obscure ones.

No there are some in Zora's domain and the desert.

Her home? Where's that?

:lol

I saw her standing by the back entrance of Hyrule castle once though..

Honestly, the first time Link did that sword flourish it was so unexpected and so badass that my friends and I pretty much jumped around in celebration for a couple minutes.

Not to ruin the fun, but I never ran out of Rupees, so I don't really understand the need to get the large wallet, etc. In fact, it got annoying in dungeons when I'd open a treasure chest and it said "...but it can't fit in your wallet so let's put it back!" I'd try to clear out the dungeon, and there'd be a whole bunch of chests still on my map.

If you see her wandering around just outside of the town, all you can do there is converse.

Dude, Castle Town isn't big. There are only so many doors you can open. One of them is her home. You even have a kid outside her door (looking in her window) that TELLS you she lives there. Possibly a sign outside her door too. Not that tough.

Just south of the STAR game, IIRC.

You can find bugs in Hyrule Field (all around the various provinces), areas around Zora's Domain, Sacred Grove, and Gerudo Desert, IIRC.

Protip: If you find ONE bug on a particular map, you WILL find its matching pair somewhere in that same map! I believe you can even check to see where you found caught bugs from within your inventory.

Did you play rollgoal?

You're right, of course. I had the two confused. Sorry 'bout that :-)

Yay! My mega back-ordered GameCube copy is finally in at Circuit City. Trying to get e deal really screwed me over in my major Zelda craving. All is good now as it should be waiting for me when I get off work. Can't wait to catch up on the billions of posts in the thread and discuss stuff.

I'm not reading the thread to check if this has been mentioned, but did you know you can make Link do the flourish? I'll spoiler this just to be safe (nothing story related, mind you.).

Right after you do the mortal blow on an enemy, press A immediately.

So awesome.

Carrying wounded Midna to Princess Zelda was my favourite moment. Dam the battle music though. Ruined it a bit.

Actually
You don't even have to bring a pair, a single bug will grant you the 600 rupee wallet, also if you have the male or female of a bug, its matching partner will be in the same place (Hint: check your bug bag to find out where the bug came from). For example, if you find a bug in 'the field north of kakariko village' you'll find the matching one in the same field just at a different location.

Was that the game at the fishing area? I quit after there starting being dips.

And to clarify, I meant 1000 wallet. 600 wallet is easy and very useful.

I finally beat the game just now. :(

Why the **** did Midna break the mirror? Is this really the last we'll see of her character? I really want her in another Zelda game. :(

Another thing. What happened to Ganondorf? And what exactly did Zant do when they showed him?

So I just got my LCD TV, component cables, and got Zelda back... I am so very glad I finished this game on my SD set upstairs ._.; It looks like shit on this thing =(

Also, I just got to the
49th floor of the cave of ordeals (last battle) and died. sonuvab-

A little help, please. Am I about to be as frustrated as I think I am? I'm in
The Sky Temple and it's time to go towards the boss. I just dropped back into the main hub room from the ceiling (through the fan) but I let go of my clawshot before grabbing onto the hanging thing that you pull down to start the fan at the north end of the room (towards the boss.) I can't seem to reach it and I'm afraid I'll have to go all the way back around to get to it. Please tell me I'm wrong. If I'm right, it's a surprising and disappointing design choice for Nintendo. They're usually so good at dropping you back into the hub while simultaneously opening up a shortcut or way back to avoid this exact situation.
It looks odd to have nothing after the spoiler text, so here's a little filler.

Clawshot back up onto the vines? If that does work use one of the cracks in the vents to to come back from outside and then Clawshot via that?

That sucks! How many <3 do you have?
I'll try the cave this weekend, 20 hearts and 4 bottles with rare (golden) chu chu jelly (which has the same effect as the Great Fairy's Tears :D )...

The first time i went all the way back like an idiot, but there is a much shorter way back. In the room under the fan, Clawshot to one of the pillars with the climbable leaves on it, now look for the climable leaves that drops down through the fan in the ceiling, use your second clawshot to get to the climbable leaves. Now climb up, clawshot the same thing as you did before (the grate above the fan), decend and clawshot the dangling switch thing :)

Good news, you're wrong. :P

There are some vines on a column in the pain room where you can climb to the top of the column and hookshot back to the room above it.

6th dungeon was awesome. The balancing puzzle was a total bitch though, but oh so rewarding once you've solved it...that's the fun of Zelda: overcoming crippling frustration through hard work and intelligence.

I tried that, but
I couldn't clawshot from the leaves, I guess because both hands are occupied. Maybe it's because I started climbing, rather than just clawshooting (word?) immediately. I'll try again.
Thanks for the help :D

Climb to the top of the pillar and then use the
clawshot

That was one hell a problem I had too, and thougth it was a bug in the design of the game before lasting 20 minutes seeking the way to get up again. I didn't reset the game just because I trust in Nintendo. :D :lol
