Official Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Review Megathread

Contrastly? Contrastly? Come on IGN.. please. That's almost as bad as the dramatical I heard yesterday while waiting for the train.

p.s. DO WANT!

Excellent.. I don't go back to work until 7pm on Sunday night.
So it's Metroid Week for me!
Glad to hear that it's worth the two days' worth of vacation time I'll be spending..
:D

They're not known for their... err... I don't know how to finish that sentence.

Writing proficiency or competence? Me of all people making that statement but hey when I can make that observation you know something is up.

As for that originality comment talk about an overrated concept. I hate how people in gaming media equate originaliaty or innovation with quality. I long for days where solid gameplay mechanics and visuals could be reviewed fairly with such trivial bs brung into it.

I actually was thinking it came out the 30th. This kinda sucks because I'll want to finish Bioshock first and I havent made it all that far yet. ><

I thought it would get a 9.6 or 9.7 to differentiate it from Twilight Princess' score. 9.5 is a solid score though, I wonder how Galaxy and Smash will do.

...I guess a part of me always hopes for that 9.8, 9.9, 10 score. Those really get me going. I hope a game gets a 10 this year from IGN.

Bioshock didn't get a ten so it seems unlikely.

Moreover, it's much easier to traverse the lands because there is now an on-screen 3D map in the upper-right-hand corner of the screen -- in preceding games, you had to load a map screen. You can still do the latter and you're also able to bookmark specific locations so that they change color, making them easier to spot.

Brilliant. I hope you can just point at a spot on the map and flag it, it will make it so much easier to remember where to go next.

Doubt it. The last 10 a game got on IGN was Dragon Warrior III for the GBC. And I don't think anything this year just quite reaches the high quality of Dragon Warrior III for the GBC.

i watched some of it out of boredom.

i think it looks great, almost makes me want to dust off the gamecube to give the original another shot, but ultimately i know better. just isn't for me.

maybe i can find a save and just tool around in phendrana drifts a bit...

Sometimes you succeed at making me laugh. This is one of those times.

p.s. Mario Galaxy or Mass Erect will score a 9.8-10.0 -- book it.

Wii fans have been waiting a while. This looks great. First game i can honestly say I would buy without a second guess for the Wii. Twilight princess included.

Maybe Galaxy as Cassamassina is a huge fanboy, but Mass Erect over Bioshock? Really now?

yeah, reading the really positive review, and even the guy at the end who said he didn't really like the first two, makes me wonder fi I'll like it. But probably not. I'm not that drawn into the prime graphics/FPS perspective. Comments in the article like 'reminds me of halo' etc. don't bode to well with me.

Read Chris Remo's Shacknews review. It's probably the best written, though it's not as if Matt's review or Mark's review are in any way bad.

And yet you can always find him in the threads about it. I am convinced he in the closet about the series.
Don't worry Anihawk you're secret is safe with us, we won't judge you.

Matt switches back and forth between deciding which game he's a bigger fanboy of. I actually expected Metroid to have the highest review from him, between that and Galaxy. I'm sure it will get a 9.5.
