I'm all for demanding trades and embarrassing your teammates, coaches, and management when they've mis-managed things. But keep it in-house. There is no reason why this kind of stuff should go public to the extent they have been lately. Kobe (and every other player) just sound like whiny little bitches who are pissy because they're not getting their way. Being competitive and wanting to win does not excuse this kind of behavior. It doesn't make it understandable either. They get paid way too much and owe the fans more than they show. And this goes for every player that does this, not just Kobe.

:lol You have no idea.

You think Kobe hasn't complained in house before he went public?

Yeah, what Kobe did certainly isn't the definition of an upstanding unselfish team player, but where are we now?

Kobe opens his mouth to the public, and just months later he's MVP, is competing for a championship, and has put management in a position to turn this team into a major contender for the next few years. Say what you want about how sad Kobes antics were, but take a snapshot of today and those same fans and journalists who were crushing him are praising him now and see the effect he's had on this team.

J.J has a right to be fucking pissed. He sat there and watched the Magic blow many potential games while he was sitting on the bench.

I have no doubt that if J.J had been able to play, the Magic would be waiting for the Celtics/Cavs right now.

Yes

So the ends justify the means?

And let's not forget who knows where LA (and the fragile state of Kobe) would be if Memphis doesn't give them Pau for a bag of chips.

Don't make me go back into the older threads and pull up all the Laker fans' posts where were telling Kobe to stfu and if he wants to leave don't let the door hit him on the ass and all that...

you'll find multiple posts of me calling a Kobe a bitch cause thats exactly how he was acting. Going public and bashing teammates and management accopmlishes NOTHING. Kobe's my favorite player but im not about to cripple my favorite team just because he's being a baby.

I haven't felt this way since like 2002

in 04, .4 killed my spirit in game 5
06 went 7 and OT

felt like the Spurs should've won that game

Your bitter tears mixed with a butternut reduction should taste splendid this evening...

I don't even know what I want. A win tonight just so the Spurs can get destroyed during the 3rd quarter of Game 7? *vomits*

Who knows, maybe NO will choke under pressure in gm 7? That is why I think the Lakers need to win in 6 cos gm 7 is too much for them at this stage. I think NO might have similar problems..

Even last night, LA was trying too hard to "end" the game in the first half. Too many turnovers trying home-run plays cos they didn't want it close at the end :lol

Leave Colorado out of it. Also, I don't remember Kobe ever "literally" crying.

And to answer your question (aside from the stuff that we're leaving out of it), yes. Yes, what Kobe did was perfectly alright. I don't think anyone who thinks objectively about the situation will disagree with that. Kobe was within his rights to call out management and demand a trade.

As for calling out his teammates, all he really said was something like "our starting PG was Smush, who isn't really getting any PT with Miami, and our starting C was Kwame, who isn't really getting any PT with Memphis." Is there anything in that statement besides an honest assessment of the situation?

You guys need to quit being haters and look at the situation from an objective viewpoint. That's probably too much for Absinthe, but I'm sure you can do it. Hell, Wayne Gretzky (the great one) asked to be traded from the L.A. Kings. Ultra-competitive players want to go somewhere where they have a real shot at winning a title.

Straw man, much? We weren't discussing Wayne Gretzky and even if we were, citing another douche bag doesn't make another douche bag's actions justifiable.

Also, lol @ a Lakers fanboy telling people that they need to objective. You're defending him tooth and nail, but anyone that has any notion of respect knows that what he did was despicable.

Peja is playing great early. If they can put pressure on Bowen then I can see a lot more scoring opportunities opening up for the Hornets. But on the other end the Spurs are getting a lot of easy shot opportunities right now.

So why did you bring up Kobe when the topic was about how arrogant LeBron is?

Question of opinion:

Recently my friends and I were discussing the recent downward trend of black American players in Major League Baseball. After a heated discussion, someone made the interesting comment that there is a similar downward trend of white American players in the NBA. Of course there are plenty of Anglo players in the NBA, but the vast majority of them are foreign born players (Dirk, Ginobli, Steve Nash (splitting hairs, I know, but a Canadian is a Canadian) etc.) Furthermore, all of the "superstar" Anglo players are foreign born; we couldn't come up with one "superstar" white American player within recent history. The last one we could come up with is Larry Bird. So my questions for you are, why is there such a lack of white American superstars in the NBA? I don't think "Because white boys can't jump" is a valid answer, because there are plenty of foreign white players with skills. Who are the best white American players currently in the league?

Dude, this is too deep for NBAGAF. Fuck outta here!

On a serious note...

It's because white athletes tend to play other sports nowadays such as football and soccer.

You have plenty of white athletes in the NFL and an entire sport dominated by some of the best white athletes in the world.

Plus, it doesn't help that the highest drafted white players in recent years in the NBA were all busts.

That being said, there is also a downward spiral of black dominant athletes in heavyweight boxing, too. It's just that a guy with Lebron James' or Brandon Roy's body play basketball - when they have the perfect body and athleticism to be the most dominant in boxing.

Nice try, moron, but I said that the whole tattoo thing was ridiculous on BOTH of their parts.

Why do you have to go and mock a man's love for his family?

http://www.collegiatetimes.com/news/4/ARTICLE/2390/2003-11-06.html

Bryant’s tattoos on his right arm extend from his shoulder to the elbow: a crown, his wife Vanessa’s name, a halo and angel wings above Psalm XXVII. His daughter Natalia Diamante’s name is in script inside his lower left arm.

“This is a crown for my queen,” he has said of his wife. “She’s my angel. She’s a blessing to me, her and Natalia.”

Kind of a dick move on your part, IMO.

Right, because we all know that Kobe fucking loves his family considering his whole tryst with the white Colorado girl. Jesus Christ. :lol

You're such a hypocrite, it's hilarious.

Dark FaZe said:
Did the Hornets just give up almost 40 points in the first quarter to the Spurs?

See you back in New Orleans *sigh*.
There is still plenty of time. Also Spurs can go to a long stretch w/o scoring.

Basketball is much less cut and dry than baseball (support for inner city baseball has declined steadily over the years). White boys play in college so it's not like there's a ethnic aversion to the sport.

It kind of comes down to body type these days. NBA scouts need to be able to tell you a player's vert, and wingspan, and all that trash. White talented players are oftened overlooked for upside. I love when a player's greatest point in the draft is wingspan...

Also lol@Reilo saying Roy would have made a good boxer..

At 6'6 and 230lbs? Why wouldn't he make a good boxer? He's got the body of a heavyweight.

:lol at Marc Jackson. He said that Steve Nash was the standard for pointguards when he won it back-to-back MVPs, and that now Chris Paul has raised the standard.

You just aren't a family man, Absinthe. You wouldn't understand this kind of thing.

Obviously he loves her if he's willing to have a dedication to her PERMANENTLY INSCRIBED on his body.

I'm guessing you need more love in your life.

I'm glad Marc Jackson didn't get that job as head coach for the Knicks. I'm 100% positive he'd be worse than Avery. Or Isiah really...

Are than any good ex-point guard coaches? (Doc Rivers = lol)
