Yeah, what Kobe did certainly isn't the definition of an upstanding unselfish team player, but where are we now?
Kobe opens his mouth to the public, and just months later he's MVP, is competing for a championship, and has put management in a position to turn this team into a major contender for the next few years. Say what you want about how sad Kobes antics were, but take a snapshot of today and those same fans and journalists who were crushing him are praising him now and see the effect he's had on this team.
