People still believe this ? lmao at the bitterness still.

Look at the rest of his post, he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about anyway. That's ok, after watching one playoff game, all the dopes that think they know everything about your team come out of the woodwork.

Can we get a moratorium on "bitter"? It's so fucking annoying to see every 0.28 posts in these threads...
Here and in the gaming forum. It's the most overused word on GAF the second half of 07. First half was "meme."

Alternate reply:

YOU'RE JUST BITTER! LET ME TASTE THOSE TEARS!

Whatever. You come off as overly defensive. I didn't even mention the chickens in that post. You'd think I'd be excited about them if I was a fan.

Not offended... we won the game, I just figured that died some time ago. Although the mass bitter tears for 6 months after was hilarious, @ Hitokage- yeah they sucked but in so many games they have sucked.

Oh noes! We're not allowed to comment on other teams now! What did I say that was so appalling? That Ben showed lots of promise? That he was great the second half? That Miller is a beast? Oh, that Ben was "protected?" Care to pull out the stats? Care to refute the claim? Wanna point out how Willie Parker would have easily been number 1 in attempts had he stayed healthy? No. You just put out that blanket statement and it makes you feel better about yourself. More power to you, sir.

btw, I would say that Garrard was even more protected throughout the season than Pittsburgh. And I do watch your team a lot. They are shown here more than any team not named Giants or Patriots.

Yo, Karakand: from now on whenever someone says the Raiders suck, we can just pull out the "you can't talk about our team" card! Gonna need it a lot for JRuss next season, so get it laminated.

:lol :(

I'll call Kinko's tomorrow and see if we can get a group discount.

JRuss = comeback player of the year next year! what will he come back from? not being allowed to dominate in his rookie season!

They're gonna make the Raiders play on CFL size fields because his atomic cannon arm is too much.

Guy has more TDs than Terry Bradshaw in a season. He's thrown more and more every year since his rookie season and net jockeys who swallow the pablum that the media feeds them spew it back on the web to make them seem smart when they make their trollish posts. You are so awesome, Steeler genius.

I know 2 perfect words for this kind of post. But this isn't my battle.

1) I didn't claim that he wasn't improving. In fact, I said the opposite of that. I just said he has some more learning to do and it's not saying he isn't good, but he is very young. People forget that because he's accomplished and been through so much in such a short time.

2) I didn't claim to be a "steeler genius"

3) The TDs are due to the fact that, while they do have all those rushing attempts and Willie Parker got the hand off more than any back in the NFL, they capped off the drives with Passing TDs. They only have NINE rushing TDs through the whole season and Willie only has 2 of those. Even Daunte Culpepper has more rushing TDs. It's like that Holmes TD today. Stack the box get burned on the outside.

Does it mean that I think he's shitty because of that? Of course not. You need look no further than Minnesota and San Diego to see that it's not that easy even in those systems.

Oh, and the sucking off the media part is rich considering they've been billing this thing all day and all week as the #2 vs #3 quarterback...:lol

Yes! Berieve!

I'm even more pissed now that I've rewatched the 4th quarter and the Jaguars final drive, I'll spare you guys the bickering though....

I'm also 2/2. Last post-season I was 100%. :D I bet on all those games, though. :X

No need to spoiler, or make excuses for, the absolute truth. >:|

I think the Jaguars have a better chance of beating the Pats than any team besides Indy. Which means they'll probably lose by 14, but at least they have a chance.

man, I really should've gone with my gut and picked seattle instead of getting caught up in the media hype over the skins. that was the one game I really felt like I didn't pick right... but then I also didn't exactly feel safe picking the seahawks given how shitty their schedule was all season, and how meaningless most of the games they played were.

I actually think the Jags are talented enough to get a win in Foxboro, but I don't think the team, qb, or coach are mentally tough to get it done on the road in the playoffs. That was my ultimate impression of them after the game.
I will preemptively blame Del Rio for their eventual loss, if they had a real coach they could win the super bowl.

Parker had the yards because he wasn't splitting time with anyone unlike like what many other teams do. He was, more or less, the whole running game. And Parker's average per gain was just 4 yards. And that was before his game against Jacksonville, he had been only in the upper 3s all year. His yards per carry has gone down every year since his first season as a starter as his carries have gone up and the offensive line play has gone down, from close to 5 yards a carry down to 4.

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RoetBe00.htm

Look at Ben's yards per attempt and yards per completion, 7.8 and 11.9. You don't get those numbers by "capping off long drives set up by Parker." His completion percentage has gone up in the face of his sack percentage going up as well.

http://www.nfl.com/players/situationalstats?id=ROE750381

Ben's put up more and better numbers, either wins, yards, TDs, completion %, 3rd down %, a conference championship and a SB trophy...or whatever than anyone the Steelers have had under center since Bradshaw. And as I already said, he's had some better numbers than even the hall of famer. Yet, because the media has pegged Ben a game manager or caretaker, those who don't really follow the Steelers have beaten that misconception into the ground and still do it. Kordell Stewart was a game manager with pedestrian numbers that was propped up by a monster running game, that was the definition of caretaker.

Gotta say Rooflesberger was a class act after the game.

There's a lot of talk about that over on the Jags board - Big Ben's got a few new fans as a result of that, and at least one I-want-to-have-his-babies proposal. :D

Ben's second and third picks were all on him, and he knows it. The first was just an awesome play by Mathis who, god damn it, always makes that play regardless of who the Steelers have under center, be it Maddox, Ben or Batch. Mathis is a Steeler killer.

I loved the way the Steelers as a whole, both offensive and defensive, in the fourth quarter. Showed a lot of heart and looked like the team I had expected at the beginning of the season. If they can get healthy next year and fill a few voids (Offensive line, corner back, etc...) I think they'll be able to go far next year.

The thing I hated most about the game was the fact that they gave me hope. I had come to acceptance that they were banged up, playing bad, and would most likely get blown out. But when they started surging and then took that one point lead..... that changed :lol

Defense played better than I thought they would. Well, except for Carter, I've seen enough of him. He's too slow and too slow to react, two horrible qualities for a safety. Tomlin finally got smart and put both Hoke and Woodley on the field. Too little too late I guess. I had no faith going into this game, so at 28-10, I was sure it was over. But Ben and the Boys were almost willing it to make it happen on their own. I still feel like Tomlin and Arians fucked it up though despite the spotty play in the first half.

It was hard to see what was going on after the game through the tears.

The defense actually played a decent game. Just like the last game we couldn't make the game saving drive at the end, but before that they played well. We stopped the run and put the game on Garrard. And they were able to do a decent job of executing that.

Specials teams was oh so bad. Everytime we were punting it was like we were spotting the Jags 15 yards. And this is the guy we drafted!

And on the 7th day, God didn't rest.... he made J-Gar!

Was less about what he said, but the way he just quietly waited on the field while Garrard finished an interview so that he could congratulate him on the win. That's just pure class.

You seemed to be running scared after MJD's touchdown - seemed like letting us start on the 40 was fine as long as MoJo didn't get his hands on the ball. He's good, but it's always going to hurt if you think he's that good.

Don't remind me. That also makes the QB draw on 3rd and 5 from your own 20 an even worse call than the abomination that it already was.

To be fair, you owed us some bad punting after the previous game. :P

The back up center didn't seem bad and moss isn't such a big loss, was hoping madison would be back though.

Ruegamer is good, and I think he does some things better than O'Hara, but I guess I am in the minority there. :lol

I expect to see a ton of blitzes right up the middle to put pressure on Manning.

It's going to be all about this guy today:
