I'm pretty sure Fins, Jets, and Bills (can't remember second Bills game) played much better against the Pats the second time around. I think it helps more than it hurts.

The Bills got 52 hung on them the second time around. I might be confusing it with another game though.

Edit: Ah, it was the Skins who got the 52 scored on them.

From what I've read, yes I do. Marino was never someone I trusted in big games, Nammath won the biggest game in NFL history. Are you really going to argue for someone whose biggest win in his career was a regular season game against the Bears? Marino was a great QB but he wasn't someone I would want on my team in a big game.

OMG my head hurts. Wow. You should read more.

Let me guess, you thought Peyton was someone that you couldn't trust in big games either before last year too am I right. To win a SB its a team effort, Marino was more than good enough to win a SB, the team just could never get it done.

Someone needs to look up Belichick's record with 2 weeks of preparation, it's probably ridiculous.

Edit: Only 5 losses after a bye week all time, and some of those came with a bad Browns teams.

I wanted the Packers to win cause I think a team that did not play the Pats this year would do better against them, maybe they could do something to catch them off guard. I have a bad feeling that the Pats will do much better against the Giants this time around.

For what it's worth:

"This marks the 12th time that two teams that met during the regular season eventually squared off in the Super Bowl, the last time being Super Bowl XXXVI (St. Louis vs. New England). The team that won the regular-season battle is 5-6 in those 11 previous Super Bowls."

If the Giants beat the Patriots, OT will implode and we will see the 2007 Brady face.

Come on Eli, no Manning face come SB time :D

That was a hell of a football game. It may be the absurd amount of booze, but Giants fans, I salute you.

Now beat the fucking Patriots*...please!

Yes, I think the one thing we can all get behind -- well, at least those of us who are good people -- is that the Patriots must lose in the Super Bowl. I'm glad the Giants have a second crack at it, but I would have been rooting just as hard for the Packers had they won.

Ah, the thread will normalize quicker than I thought here. 19-0 and a Superbowl championship is going to feel so good. :D

Green tea or coffee will be served in a few!!

... now for the monumental task of collecting all of the crow to make others eat.
This picture would be perfect with Tiki running after the bus.

I'm a Giant fan. Early in the season I was literally salivating over the prospect of a Favre v. 18-0 Patriot team. The story is epic... the buildup is wonderful....... I'm saying everything you've heard/felt before.

But then the Giants decided that, hey, not only is our road winning streak a viable, poignant one... we're gonna out play (yes, out play) the best the NFC has to offer in a push to the Superbowl.

I love Favre. Had the Giants lost I woulda cheered for him hard... but... hot damn... I'm glad we took the old man down. If it were anyone to knock him off the horse of this dream season... well... I'm glad it was my team :) What a great fucking game... I'll remember this one for a looooong time :)

And...

Oh my God 18-1 sounds so fucking sweet.

If the Giants defeat the Patriots and break Boston's heart, I will renounce my Jets fandom and worship at Wellington's altar.

If this happens on a large scale, Giants winning the superbowl could be the greatest thing to ever happen to the AFC East. Lack of Jets fans and sad pats fans!

NO! don't do it! I want the Giants to win and all that, but only because my team is out.

The receivers know which routes they are running and can stride/adjust accordingly. Since defensive backs are necessarily reacting (thus not planning steps ahead) difficult footing makes these reactions trickier.

Dropped passes and touch may be heightened, yes, but I specifically noted route running. I am assuming someone like Al Harris, who has dealt with tons and tons of weather in his Packer days, and Woodson, who is old and savvy (and also played in Michigan) will be better equipped than the less experienced d backs, excluding Madison, who is from Florida and has played his ball in the south but has been in the league awhile so probably has experience in snow.

Seattle was beat by the middle of the second quarter, before the snow started falling hard. Ryan Grant gifted em 2 scores, and the Packers coming back on three straight posessions (I'm pretty sure?) and retaking the lead before half time was a back breaker.

That said, I don't think weather will play much of a factor, but it does tilt things in favor of Favre.

Poor weather also makes it more difficult to respond to wide receiver routes. I'd say this is clearly in favor of the Packers, whose receiver depth combined with the injuries to the Giants secondary would make match-ups all the more difficult.

The giants were pretty pathetic against quality opponents, I don't like their chances. Although, I would prefer the Packers get the Giants again than the solid running game of the Bucs.

Sorry man, but you were way too confident!

Our secondary played like ass today. Al Harris, however great he is, showed his age/had an off day.

Props to Plexico none the less.

If the Patriots can run the table, they can go winless in the next 10 years and I wouldn't give a shit. As long as they win in two weeks they can go without a SB till I die and I will still be happy as a clam.

And you people wonder why the Patriots are hated so much?

Their team is undefeated and everyone is whining about them "cheating", what you want them to be humble. They have the right to talk all the crap they want until some team beats them.

I think that pretty much sums it up.

Cool stats, we need more stuff like this. We need to find more things that give the Giants hope, I dont care how ridiculous the stat is.

I'm savoring these moments of Patriots history as much as I possibly can. I realize that in 7-10 years they will most likely be one of the average teams struggling for a wild card spot. This dominance will not last much longer, and I want to remember it and enjoy it as best as I can.

Why is this so different from Giants fans thinking they're going to win?

I for one am not even thinking about the game against the Pats. There will be time for that later (the wait for the Super Bowl is too long anyway). Just like last week I'm just going sit back and soak in this victory, this run has been amazing!:D

Yes. Please. We need to enjoy this for a little bit.

We've discusses this before. Boston sports fans are completely oblivious as to why they are annoying, which only multiplies their annoying factor, propelling them well beyond Yankees fans.

Pretty much. Don't have much hate for the Patriots as a team, butt he fanbase? Ehh...

Go G-men.

Also, wtf @ that video :lol

I think it has to do with the Red Sox losing for so long. They developed a deep inferiority complex. But now that they've had success, they've synthesized that with a superiority complex for the worst of both worlds.

When their teams suck, they want everyone to pity them. When they win, they want everyone to worship their superiority. Case in point: Bill Simmons.

not going to copy and paste my favre depreciation thread but i will say FUCK YES! suck it down packers, even the refs couldn't save you from destiny! favre sold his soul for his one championship and one championship is all he will ever get. (an undeserved championship no less)

Are they that bad, the fan base. From the Pats fans I have spoken too they seem level headed and respectful, confident yes, but don't you think they have earned that after three SB wins. But to be fair there are not many Boston fans here in Miami, what we have are New Yorkers, tons and tons of stinking Jets fans all over the place (no issues with you Giant fans, you seem to be smart bunch from NY, all the rejects became Jets fans). Now those are some annoying fans. Also I went to a MNF game here when the Eagles came into town, holy crap I was scared, Eagle fans are like the lowest of the low. But Pats fans, never an issue.

Congrats to the Pats (and Giants). I really, really thought SD had a beat on the victory, but every TD-less redzone visit broke my fucking heart. Here's to next year. Go Giants!! :D

I don't really buy the whole "Everyone always hates the best teams." For the most part people loved the Bulls. And not all of their players were the most humble. As a Dolphins fan i know why i want them to fall, but you have to respect what they're doing no matter what.

As for all the others who hate their greatness, i think it is just the demeanor Bostonians give off win they have a winning franchise. i really dunno, my dislike was always easily explained.

Oh, and the 56-10 against the Bills was coming off the bye week...

and in the 2nd jets game it was raining/snowing/windy vs. the opening game it was nice weather. The dolphins game started really strong, but Brady played like shit 2nd half because he was tryin to force it to Moss, the first half was great though. Also the dolphins just came off their first win, that has to count for something.

Not me. I fucking hated the Bulls. The rest of Lakers-Age and I hate on Jordan about as much as FMT does on Favre.
