Guess that explains why they are doing their best to sweep it under the rug. Have you even heard this mentioned outside of a few random webpages? If this were the MLB EVERYONE would be talking about it.

Random web pages like espn, cnn, cbsnews, nfl.com... what do you want? Their heads on a platter?

I dont think there is an NFC team that comes close to the Eagles record this decade.

yeah, just like the 90's Bills, big deal!

If you drop the starting RB for the Broncos for Frank Gore you are high.

I must be high also cause i think gore would get more td's than bell...tatum bell is gonna get the td's for the broncos... just my $.02...

Count me in the camp that think You are high. I would most def. take Frank Gore over any of the broncos rb's

I'd drop Bell or Taylor

hmm, yeah it's a tough choice. I mean Taylor is the starter in Minny and they should do alright this year.. he also showed some flashes in Baltimore. Bell seems like the obvious keeper, because even splitting time a bit he could still easily get 10+ TD's in Denver assuming he stays as the "no. 1" back of the 3. Frank Gore I just don't know.. it'd be really nice to see how everyone does after the first week :(

Bill Simmons Thumbs Up/Down Article:

*Thumbs Up* To my favorite USA Today headline of the exhibition season: "Barlow Apologizes For Calling Ex-Coach Hitler." Sorry about comparing you to a racist dictator who committed mass genocide. My bad.

Ugh... It starts...

DEARBORN, Mich. (AP) -- A Detroit Lions assistant coach was arrested twice in the past two weeks -- once while police say he was driving nude and a week later on suspicion of drunken driving.

Police in the Detroit suburb of Dearborn said Joe Cullen, who coaches the team's defensive line, was pulled over Aug. 24 and ticketed on suspicion of indecent and obscene conduct.

The ticket does not provide any other information about why Cullen allegedly was nude. The Lions said alcohol was involved.

Then, on Sept. 1, police stopped his 2006 Ford Explorer and determined he had a blood-alcohol content of 0.12 percent, court records show. The legal limit for drivers in Michigan in 0.08 percent.

Cullen, who lives in Dearborn, posted bond in both misdemeanor cases and was coaching at Wednesday's practice.

The 38-year-old, who was hired from the University of Illinois, issued a statement Wednesday to apologize.

"I would like to apologize to the Detroit Lions organization, our fans, my family and friends for any embarrassment these incidents have caused," he said. "These incidents represent a mistake in judgment on my part. I deeply regret them and have learned a valuable lesson. It won't happen again."

Lions president Matt Millen said in a statement that Cullen has requested treatment.

"We are obviously very disappointed," the statement said. "These are very serious matters that will be handled sternly and appropriately by our organization."

Cullen was scheduled to appear next week in 19th District Court for both cases.

Cullen was fired from the University of Mississippi in 2005 after an alcohol-related arrest at a restaurant.

Mississippi Athletic Director Pete Boone told the Detroit Free Press on Wednesday that no one from the Lions contacted him for a reference.

Let's just get it out of the way. FIRE MILLEN!

More from the genius:

To everyone who keeps pushing the whole "there's no division tougher than the NFC East" crap. Dallas is stuck with Drew Bledsoe for another season (to the point that the phrases "QB controversy" and "Tony Romo" came into play last month), as well as mediocre running backs and the inevitable T.O.-Parcells / Vanderjagt-Parcells soap operas. The Skins went 0-4 in the preseason and looked like they were filming scenes for "The Replacements 2." Everyone seems to forget that (A) the Giants completely rolled over and quit on their coach at home in the playoffs last season; (B) Eli had the full-fledged Manning Face from Halloween through the New Year; and (C) their big free agent move was LaVar Arrington (who's good for 6-7 games this season). I don't get it. What's so great about the NFC East?

Meanwhile, everyone's counting out the Eagles, who absolutely REEK of Ewing Theory potential after T.O.'s departure and everyone acting like they were a 6-10 team last season, when the reality was this: Their defense was decimated by injuries; they lost McNabb in Week 7 and Westbrook in Week 8; and the T.O soap opera and residual bitterness from the Pats' Super Bowl destroyed what was left of their season. Well, who has an easier schedule -- @Hou, NYG, @SF, GB, DAL, @NO -- over the first six weeks? With the exception of Dallas and Chicago, who has a better defense in the NFC? Why is everyone so willing to count out a team with a quality coach that's loaded on the offensive/defensive lines? Couldn't they do a reasonable impression of the 2005 Bears, only with a much better QB? I love the Eagles this season. More on this later.

He also picked New England Vs. Philly for the SB.

Adam Schefter also puts the Eagles back in the big game against the Colts.

Could it be people are finally realizing this team isnt a puch over?

damn i was about to reply the buffalo bills, but at least they actually got to a few superbowls and lost :(

oh wait, better to have gotten to 4 NFC championship games than to have won 1 superbowl

dont the falcons-panthers play in week 1? can't wait to see that matchup :lol

That's right. It should be great.

Bowser you didn't even post the best Hall quote:

"I don't think it will happen," Hall said of spending pregame time with Smith, as he did before last season's game in Carolina. "It's a little bit of a different mind frame. Last year, it was a Pro Bowl push. This year, I feel like we need a Super Bowl. Period. If I got to put friendships on hold, or whatever, end them, that's cool. This is a business. You best believe, when he's hanging in the air, I will be taking a shot at him. Period. I'm trying to kill people this year. Period."

Awesome. I will admit Hall is hothead, but we seriously have been missing this type of attitude on our defense.

Chad Johnson Rips DHall a new one everytime he is on NFL Total Access. Hall has nothing on him

defensive rookie of the year: vince young. somebody is going to have to make the after-INT tackles.

offensive rookie of the year: dbrick. if the jets manage to get over 1000 rushing yards total, it's going to be a ****ing miracle and somebody will need to take the credit.

coach of the year: dungy. it's not his fault peyton gets shaky when he is presented with a challenge.

mvp: antwaan randle el. he catches, he returns punts, he occassionally laterals. he also is the best qb on the redskins roster. j-camp future? lol, try a-relfuture, son.

Stop it.

Just stop it

Don't shorten every player's name to the A-Rod format. That's a stupid way to make a nickname!

Whatever. Simmons is a goddamn hack who lost his lovable loser schtick once the Red Sox won the World Series. His response to everything is "kiss the rings bitch."
"5 year grace period" my asshole.

But yeah, I know he's liked around here so I'll leave him alone :)

My mistake, thought it was Simmons, cause I saw his name so much. Forgive, it's been a 12 hour work day :P (See Coldblooded's post):

With the exception of Dallas and Chicago, who has a better defense in the NFC? [Than the Eagles]

Yes because the experts' picks is what determines who makes it to the Superbowl...

:rolleyes

Why the hell do so many fans actually give a shit what the experts say or where there teams are ranked? Respect doesn't go very far in the playoffs. Ask Peyton Manning.

Simmons is funny but yes he is pretty annoying whenever it comes to the topic of a New England team. But just remember this. No matter how bad he gets he is not Skip Bayless.

Thats kinda taken out of context. If someone offered me a choice between the eagles winning a superbowl then spending the next 4 years in the gutter or not winning a superbowl but making it to 4 consecutive championship games, I would choose the second option. Is it really that hard to understand? Sure a superbowl would be great but it wouldnt be enough to carry me through 4 years of crap. Having an Eagles team that is always challenging makes every game and every sunday that much more enjoyable. :)

that's not out of context at all. that's exactly what it says.

You'd rather have a competive team every year and never win a SuperBowl than win once every 6-10 years and have shit in between. Right?

Personally, I'd like to win some playoff games and even *SNIFF* a SuperBowl before complaining about being competitive. (Chiefs)

:lol Awesome.

Looking back into the 10 years in a row that the Chiefs made the playoffs under Shottenheimer, I'd trade all that away in an instant to have seen them win the SuperBowl.

In a muth****in instant.

I dont think there is an NFC team that comes close to the Eagles record this decade.

Well, if you're going back to and including 1995, the Eagles have 99 total wins in that 10 year span. In that same time frame, the Packers have 113 wins and a Super Bowl trophy. While the Bucs have 96 wins.....and a championship game win over your Eagles and a Super Bowl trophy. I'd say that not only comes close, it surpasses. And just for the heck of it, the Steelers have 109 wins and the SB trophy in the last decade. You know, just to rub it in some more on PA's supposed gold standard.

While we're on the topic, the ****ing Chiefs --who haven't won a playoff game since 93-- have 102 wins in that same time span.

HAHAHAAHAHAHA

The Bills, Philly you are not.

Um, yeah, sure, whatever. I'll skip the impossible future predictions and go with the more logical "from the year 2000 till 2005. If that's the case, then the Eagles have 65 victories. The Pack would have 57, the Bucs would have 54 and still have the title win over Philly and the trophy, and the Rams would have 57 and a title win over Philly. I don't see how that really helps matters. Oh, and Steelers would have 64. :D

Um, Cold, can I talk to you for a second? GET YOUR MONKEY ASS BACK IN LINE AND PUT ON YOUR GODDAMN REGGIE BROWN AVATAR BEFORE I **** YOU UP.
