Official Phantasy Star Zero Thread (JP)

Finally got this game after getting a DSi and as a big PSO fan, I am impressed. I miss having a dual analog to control the camera and I wish the camera angle was a bit further back and tilted, but I'm still having much fun with this game. Love how photon arts are activated by charging the button and the gameplay is pretty much PSO with the inclusion of rolling and strafing. Also, the way drops are released is actually slick so nobody is making a mad dash for rares or items they need/want outside of the stuff you find in the boxes scattered throughout the level.

I guess you could call this game PSO Lite if anything and I'm glad they followed that formula. I beat normal story mode yesterday with my HUcast by laser cannoning the shit out of Dark Falz while all the party members laid dead with no moons to res them back. It felt really reminiscent of the good ol' days in PSO. =)

And granted I'm only level 25 right now and haven't seen the goodness to be had in Hard Mode and up, Samus' Power Beam is an awesome weapon, especially it's PA. I rocked Rayburn in less than 30 seconds with it.

Playing multi with the wifey and my bro was excellent as well. Very classic PSO action to be had. :D

I just got my copy in the mail from Play Asia. I haven't tried online yet but I've been playing the story mode. I just beat with the second mission with the
octopus
boss. So far I'm loving it, although trying to move diagonal with the DS Lite d-pad is maddening. I really need to get a DSi.

It will be interesting to see what kind of numbers the US release puts up this fall. If Amazon's Nov. 10 date is correct more than likely it's going to get lost in the holiday shuffle and bomb. :(

Well the last boss is kicking may ass and my NPC's aren't any help at all. :lol

Are there any other weapon/item codes out there or is this everything?

You guys need to do eternal tower! 100 floors of nonsaving and nonstop fun!

101 floors, 7 rooms per normal floor. The amount of rooms total in the tower is 641. Quite the undertaking! In any case, don't you love that view? Absolutely breathtaking in terms of the art direction. (Well, You'd need to have traveled thru the tower yourself to really understand that) It's a tower that rises above the heavens and into space!

Well I finally beat the final boss so I'll have to give this a go at some point.

I can't decide whether I want to play this or Portable, so I'm just not playing either...

You dudes think this game has the kind of legs that would be worth dedicating some real time to it?

I'm not sure what you mean by legs but I've put about 17 hours into Zero so far and I haven't even played it online. I've just been playing the story mode quests and done tiny bit of grinding. So yeah there's a good amount of content.

And I've heard nothing but good things about Portable but I personally haven't played it.
There's a official thread for it here,

I really want to pick this up but C.O.P The Recruit has been in my eye since I first heard of it and they come out so near each other :/

But this has online play!

In the time it has taken for this to come across (ALMOST AN ENTIRE FUCKING YEAR), the dev team have created an entirely new game by working with the Phantasy Star Portable crew on PSP2, completely dimming any anticipation or urge to get this. I hope PSP2 doesnt suffer the same fate and I am looking at scans of PSP3 as Sega announce theyve started localising it >:(

So now you come here to bash this game instead?

It makes me wonder why it really took them this long to localize it. Was it the FMV voiceovers, or simply the holliday market season? I'm still excited about it that I got my preorder down.

Can't wait for the global online co-op. I have a fair amount of WiFi games under my belt (DQWars, Shiren), and this would be a nice add.

Blueblur1 said in the other thread that he plans on making the Official thread within a couple of days...

Doesn't random chat have English preset phrases that go along with the Japanese ones?
I'm guessing that Random play would be worldwide and friends would be just regional. :/

Didn't the JP version limit character names to like six letters maximum? I doubt the same limit will be in place for the US version, so I wonder how compability will work out for that.
