No touch pad. Not that I like the touch pad or anything, but some games actually require it for some awful reason. Also no speaker... same reasons...

I only mentioned these because manufacturers like hori are known, whether it's official or not, it's still a functional controller for those who specifically wanted an asymmetrical design. If you saw the post I responded to......it was implied that there are no options to DS4's. The point is, there is, there are quite a bit. Hori alone has quite a few controllers for PS4. There is the asymmetrical design for those who prefer the XBOX pad, there's the symmetrical design for people who prefer that design, there's the fightpad, (which I have one, with 6 face buttons). There is the mouse + touchpad combo...(the Hori Tactical assault.).....then there's the PRO version of that with the keyboard. That's just Hori alone, yet, there are more Hori controller products on PS4 than what I've just mentioned, imagine that, like the fighter pad (without the dpad adjuster), different to the one I have and of course the mini controller, and yes, most of these are licensed and even if they're not it's a Hori product. Being licenced does not mean the controller is worse from that company......Hori pad quality is really terrible, it's not even an "official" third party product. Nacon Revolution is not even wireless and had tons of troubles with Destiny 1, which was the most popular shooter out there.
Comparisons are simply not well placed.
I've grown up with a Playstation controller in my hands and, aside from the stick placing, which is simply a preference, the ergonomics always sucked. DS4 is by far the best controller they've made but it's really behind in terms of ergonomics. Hope next generation's DS gets a little more love from Sony.
And, again, us PS4 players don't have a choice except XIM4 and other similar stuff. That is why the most famous third party producers like Scuf and Razer are always leaning towards different ergonomics. Actually Scuf has every sector covered, they've got the 4PS, the Impact and now this. I was about to drop my money on the Impact, I may wait for this one.
Yes, they do have a choice, they always did. Do some research first at least.....
The Hori Pad has been out for a minute and also the Nacon, even with the preferred stick placement for you xbox fans.

So you've shifted the goalpost from "what choice do they have anyway" to "who the hell likes buying third party controllers"?? Hmmmm...Yes, because so many people love buying third party controllers.
I mean as far as the Dualshock goes.
People who prefer offset have no choice. So saying "All those people buying dualshocks prefer symmetrical" is dumb. I prefer offset but I won't buy a third party Dualshock. Make no mistake, if Sony were to switch to offset next gen, you'll find a tonne of people much like yourself who suddenly "come around" on the idea.
I don’t care about asymmetrical design, I even said that.I only mentioned these because manufacturers like hori are known, whether it's official or not, it's still a functional controller for those who specifically wanted an asymmetrical design. And there are so many more, controllers from other lesser known companies....some with very good reviews, like Tonsum, Chasdi.....for e,g.
This one has quite a few reviews and it's rated a 4/5
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BP1T1XV/?tag=neogaf0e-20
The Chasdi is highly rated too and there are so many other lesser known brands and controllers of all types. FPS, fighters, General or mimicked DS4's, asymmetrical, symmetrical. I've already mentioned madcatz. The point is, you can just take a normal PC controller and it will work on PS4, I just don't understand how anyone can say all you have is the official DS4.
The reason people buy the official DS4 is simply because it's a great controller and it's from the company making the console. Yet, if you want an alternative it's there in spades, in all flavors......And speaking of ergonomics, that's really something innit? My left hand is not shorter than my right hand, last I checked my arms/hands are equal length, so much for ergonomics. When I sit at a table or desk I don't shoot my left hand higher.......Saying you prefer an asymmetrical design is fine, but please don't pretend it should be default or a normal design on PS systems. Millions of Dual Shockers around the world since PS1 are perfectly fine and have not bat an eyelash, 80 million PS4 owners who are buying DS4's in droves could not careless about an asymmetrical design because it's available if they want to go that route. You should really stop trying to heighten your preference as the one that's preferred, because it's not....and if you get asymmetrical designed controllers and you still complain, then I guess you will just complain about everything.......
In the end, there are third party controllers of all types/persuasions and prices, available for the PS4.......nobody is being held at gunpoint to play or buy the DS4's.
Probably not just personal preference. Is there a scientific or medical reason why asymmetric is better than symmetric thumbsticks?
No, if anything a symmetrical design is more natural/normal. Asymmetrical is just a choice and an alternative design, which people have access to if they so desire. Anyone's preference in controller types is not law, but the ergonomics argument on the asymmetrical design is laughable at best.......Even for shooters where they say the 360 pad was better, some of the best test times you can find in Modern-Warfare is on a DS3, the highest scores in Bayonetta was with a DS3 too, and that was a woeful port with bad framerates there.....Is there a scientific or medical reason why asymmetric is better than symmetric thumbsticks?
I use this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077MLHBM6/?tag=neogaf0e-20
So you've shifted the goalpost from "what choice do they have anyway" to "who the hell likes buying third party controllers"?? Hmmmm...
Here's the thing, I have 4 dual shocks and I still bought a third party controller in the HORI. I had several third party controllers for the PS3 as well, yet I had no problems with the DS3, as it's what I mostly used. Yet, I do remember that I had an adapter playing SF4 with a Dual-Shock 2 on a 360 last gen, because the XBOX 360 DPAD could literally cut you. Yet, I played everything else on that console with the default pad. The DPAD was atrocious, but there has never been an issue like that on a Dual Shock controller, every PS controller has had great DPADS, Hell, Luffy still uses a DS1. As for the sticks, symmetrical sticks are just normal for most hands, yet, if I felt like I preferred asymmetrical sticks, I'd just get one of the many available for PS4 and stop complaining.....or solve that problem...
So it's two things.....
1.) The DS4 causes you no issue, but you want to make one regardless
2.) You have a problem with the DS4 but refuse to get a third party pad that will solve it.
So who do you want to blame?
It's crazy, but I think some of you guys just want Sony to do an Asymmetrical pad, to justfiy your love for the design. So you'll get statements like "Hey, Sony finally saw the way" "they've got the right stick placement at last"....or some will still come in and say "this asymmetrical DS is not close to the quality and comfort the xbox pad" a la loop.........The point is, as of right now or many eons ago, you have/had an option. If your problem is stick placement, there's a solution, if your problem is wanting to spend $100-200.00 for an elite controller, there are solutions, if you want a mouse and keyboard/controller hybrid, you have a solution. If you want a cheaper alternative like the DS4 with solid build quality, you have many options.....
