I understand that. It just doesn't feel right to me.Guled said:they are crumbling platforms (as seen in the trailer) but I'm not sure how it will work with Elika. But how is this different then having a you are dead screen and going back to the last checkpoint. This way it dosn't take you out of the gameplay

Rez>You said:You have to hit the jumps and beat the enemies. The game just cleverly disguises checkpoints and doesn't bother asking "would you like to continue?". It's by no means a bad thing, although it creates the illusion of no challenge, even though technically you're getting the same level of challenge but without the tedious middleman.
are you sure thats how it is, I'm sure its not 1 jump then checkpoint then the second jump.GremlinInTheMachine said:Mirror's Edge is really generous with its checkpoints but it still requires you to nail a series of jumps in-between checkpoints. The series are shorter than usual, but they're still series. The problem I have with Prince of Persia is that you don't seem to ever need to make more than one jump in a row. If you miss one, you start exactly where you screwed up. If that is the way it plays, I wouldn't even call it a checkpoint system because the world checkpoint implies that there's some distance between the points, but that's arguing semantics.
Either way the eye candy will probably get me to buy it since I don't have a backlog.

It's unclear as of yet... I think.I AM JOHN! said:Do we really know how generous the checkpoint system is for certain or are we all just speculating based on Hilary's bullshit review?
"Checkpoints" happen on every stable platform. Basically Elika will bring you back to the last point on solid ground. So it can be quite a lot of jumps, but no *that* much either.I AM JOHN! said:Do we really know how generous the checkpoint system is for certain or are we all just speculating based on Hilary's bullshit review?
interesting. I can't wait for this to come out.Blimblim said:"Checkpoints" happen on every stable platform. Basically Elika will bring you back to the last point on solid ground. So it can be quite a lot of jumps, but no *that* much either.
Got the review build yesterday, and so far I find the experience very enjoyable. I love getting the light seeds, it reminds me (but with a widely different gameplay) of Crackdown.
There are long strings of acrobatic maneuvers you have to pull off in the game with no solid ground along the whole way. You fall and Elika takes you back to the begging where the stable ground is and you have to try the long string over again.GremlinInTheMachine said:Mirror's Edge is really generous with its checkpoints but it still requires you to nail a series of jumps in-between checkpoints. What version of the game was your review build sent out as? And have you noticed any difference in frame rate between the 360 and ps3 versions. I know people hate console versus questions but I'd just like to know which version to preorder. Thanks.Blimblim said:"Checkpoints" happen on every stable platform. Seconded. I like the default much more than any of the skins that have been shown.batbeg said:I much prefer it. So it says... nothing, I suppose. Except that gamers love nostalgic throwbacks (shock, surprise!).
MMaRsu said:Anybody have any awesome PoP wallpapers?
1280 x 1024 preferably.
I only got the 360 version. So far after 2 hours the only slowdowns/noticeable tearing I've seen was during cutscenes. Gameplay was very smooth.SonComet said:What version of the game was your review build sent out as? And have you noticed any difference in frame rate between the 360 and ps3 versions. Determined by the publisher. Since it's Ubi, I'm guessing not.Naked Snake said:Wow it's ridiculous how many versions of pre-order bonuses there are for this game in the UK: http://prince-of-persia.ubi.com/preorder/uk/?

Ship date is usual for most Ubisoft games, I think?Aladuf said:Anybody know if Dec. 2 is the actual release date or if it's just the ship date for the US?
My guess is a lot of people are a bit sketchy on it because of its difficulty and the fact that it's Ubisoft making it.MMaRsu said:So judging by the amounts of posts itt, and the fact this game is out next week, I take it not alot of gaffers are picking this up?![]()
