Official PS3 Custom Theme Thread

Okay, here's the deal.

I spent a great deal of time on this, and it's not indicative of a Photoshop artist.

What I hope this theme conveys is the genuine love someone can have for a game they played as a child, as well as an appreciation of that game's source material.

All the top icons are colored, Winsor Mckay comic strip icons, virtually unaltered.

Almost everything else aside from the folders is done in pencil sketch, taken directly from the game Little Nemo: The Dream Master.

I took great care to make sure just about every important element was included, and even some more obscure elements made it in. But you have to search for it all.

I'm really not in any mood to read that it sucks, or whatever. I feel that it's neat, clean, and represents a good trip down memory lane for fans of this game. It is not however the second coming of m0dus.

With that in mind, I present the Little Nemo in Slumberland/Little Nemo: The Dream Master theme.

EDIT: My photo icon isn't showing up.

Give me just a sec. to rehost.

Download Nemo1.p3t
Thanks for hosting the second option......but oddly enough it's not showing up in my themes even though I jsut downloaded it
*edit* n/m I was looking for it to be named something else. I love the classic 2d feeling of this, makes me want to try and make a theme too.

Yeah give me a second. For some reason my photo icon isn't showing up either.

Let me retest it and then I'll reupload it.

i think something is wrong in general with themes. I dont know, maybe Modus can clear this up, but all the themes i have downloaded have a question mark in place of the photo icon.

I doubt that the icon for photo is a question mark but it is there for all the themes i have downloaded and i dont know why its there.

Well, I opened the XML file in the PS3 theme builder and it won't let me upload ANYTHING to the photo section and save it.

It's just blank. That's the problem. In other words, every single time I compile it's telling the system that I have no photo icon file.

I checked the file name it's icon.1.png, same as the default sample one.

What gives?

Never happened for me.
Photo icon always worked when I was creating themes.

Check that the dimensions are right and that it's a 32-bit PNG.

*edit*
Aha! Then the solution is not to use the Theme Builder.
Use the command line app. I never used the Theme Builder.
Just edit the xml in Notepad and run the official compiler.

Well, the dimensions are 128x128, and I seriously doubt that's the problem since Paint.net only saves one PNG type, which works fine for every other icon.

This REALLY, REALLY makes me mad.

Also, I originally created it by dragging and dropping Nemo1.xml into the theme compiler, but in retrospect I wish I hadn't mixed it up with the theme builder.

If I were to zip all my icons, gim files, P3T file, etc., could someone figure out why it's not compiling correctly?

I don't even know where to begin.

Okay, FINALLY!

This theme should include the whole thing, even the photo icon.

Give it a shot everyone! Little Nemo theme.

EDIT: Also fixed the photo icon's proximity to the text.

What was the problem with the Photo icon? I've spent last few minutes looking at the png files you provided and I can't see anything unusual about that icon. The only thing is, that was the largest icon file of all. I thought that it maybe exceeded some file size so I cut down number of colors on it and saved the file so that it was in line with file size of others - but it still showed up as question mark.

Nevermind, found it. Your XML file didn't have the line for the photo icon. You were missing this:

<icon id="icon_photo" src="Icons.1.png" />

Nice theme btw, very nice retro look to it.

Maybe I should go on and make theme for "Creatures" 1 and 2, two of my favorites on C64.

Btw, while you're editing the XML, you could edit one of the first lines, where it says:

name="sample"

change it to something like

name="Little Nemo"

Same thing a bit down there under the "localizedinfo"

There's already a few themes that have left that default name - Sample, so it's more difficult to find which one's which on the list in XMB.

Thanks to everyone who posted comments about my theme. Glad to see you like it!

Btw, now that I've seen that photo/question mark of doom, I see it in most themes I have actually.

Most of the m0dus' themes for example have this problem. Looks like that theme builder GUI has some bug in it that makes this problem appear. I only used the command line tool, so I didn't run into this problem I guess.

Another thing for the fellow theme makers to look for is - there seems to be a file size limit to how big wallpaper files can be in a theme. Looks like anything over 1MB (or maybe even 800K) won't go through, and you only get the XMB wave instead. Just compress your wallpapers more, using higher JPG compression, if this problem happens.

Damn, there is no good HEROES theme out!
I saw two of them with bad icons and always with blurry wallpapers in the background.
Something new?

I have a request, although it's really only a wallpaper request.

I would like someone to take the FFVII wallpaper that M0dus made with his FFVII theme, but modify it a bit. I'd like that same Aerith picture used, moved to the right, while adding this Tifa picture to the left.

I personally think this would make for a better image with the two girls back to back in the middle, and the Cloud portrait removed entirely (or if someone could put a Cloud image in the middle that could fit).

Also sorry, can't find an image without the lettering, that's the best one I could find.

Here's the 100% finished Uncharted theme. All icons done, and there's two wallpapers included inside the theme.

*edit* It would be a good idea to delete the old version of the theme if you don't want to get them confused on the list, as this one has slightly different name, so it won't overwrite the old one.

It looks kinda like this:
wow....just wow!

Srsly? I went ahead and checked--all my icons are appearing in my theme. do we have a cap of this?
I'll double check it today and make photos of the screen if you want - but I've seen it, I'm sure of it.

I don't have the original releases of you themes to check, but it happens with the themes you re-released so that they have unified naming and such.

The DMC4 theme and the Valkrie Profile themes both have questions marks for the photo icon m0dus.

I had the Question mark in place of my photo icon in the MGS4 Theme m0dus did. I just deleted it and re-installed it by downloading it again from the OP. Works fine now and all the icons are in place...

m0dus, YOU ROCK.

If you ever had the time, make a poor soul extremely happy by using your wonderful skills in making a Xenosaga 3 theme :'(

m0dus' VP theme wins earth

Someone make sure these are all safely stored away in the event of nuclear war. When aliens find us, I want them to see these first.

I'll try that then.

It took me a while, but it was actually pretty fun making a theme.

I think I'll make another one soon.

Animal Crossing would be a good idea.

Here they all are:

Beautiful. Now there can be a grab bag of FFVII wallpapers and themes. I'm still hoping someone will honor my request, but I'd like to see some new wallpapers with the cast as well.

Also, is there a thread or link for custom PSP themes? I remember seeing something like that a bit back, but didn't pay much attention since my PSP was in for repairs.

things have definitely slowed down a big in this thread

modus you still making themes?

Dude don't worry it takes time to create master pieces man. They will come in due time there just so many franchises, games, tv shows, movies, anime cartoons and whatnot they people can create.

wow, that theme manager works pretty awesomely, rhis was just an attempt at a test to see if i got the dimensions right, not a real theme. Ill work on something serious later :) i present to you, absolutely random Retard-Theme that will never come out.
