Official Rockman Rockman/Megaman Powered Up Infrastructure Thread

If you want I can zip my current map up and upload it somewhere so you can check it out first. ^^
Sure, sounds cool -- I think you're working on the kind of stuff I'm wanting to create. Too bad you can only designate one boss per stage. And I'll be interested to see if save files carry over across regions or if you have to use the PSP infrastructure mode to swap games.

Okay I uploaded it to the Japanese RR stage exchange webboard.

You might have to change the directory name though, since mine is the Asian version...

Irregular Hunter X's improvements and additions are PERFECTLY geared towards Rockman X fans. Just like Rockman Rockman's improvements and additions are perfectly geared towards Rockman fans. As a fan of both, I'm really happy. Having said that, I think Capcom definitely spent more time with Rockman Rockman in terms of care and polish, but they spent more MONEY on Irregular Hunter X in terms of anime FMVs and stuff.

Yeah, I got Maverick Hunter X and love it. Now with Powered up coming out I'll be sure to pick that up too. Do you think we'll be able to share levels with the Japanese and American versions of the game?

Duckroll's level is kinda cool and sucks at the same time :P
I died like 20 times on it :(

Game rocks like Duckroll says.

Hey Toasty, since you're the only other guy here who seems to have the U.S. build at the moment, maybe you can answer a question for me.

I haven't played the Japanese version of the game, but judging from the artwork that I've seen, has Capcom changed the color of Oilman's "lips" at bit? They seems a little more yellow in the U.S. version than the fleshy tone that's seen in the Japanese artwork.

And it's a shame that the U.S. servers have been shut down. Looks like no more uploading until release.

It's pretty obvious why Famitsu scored this game so low...it's really frustratingly difficult like the old games were. Famitsu = likes easy games. If they can't even beat a single level they're gonna give it pretty negative scores.

It's also pretty obvious that there were two teams, with one doing X and one doing RockmanRockman. RockmanRockman can have some pretty crazy slowdown at times (whereas X had very little) and it's extremely unforgiving with tons of tiny platforms and if anything touches you, you don't just take damage but you get knocked to the side and fall to your death. The levels are also REALLY LONG. Much longer than the X levels I think. Which makes them all the more tough. It's fun, but oh man is it challenging.

There'll definitely be level sharing between all 3 regional versions. The servers are already set up to support that. :D

Yeah, Oilman has been completely recolored -- his skin has a more bluish cast in the U.S. and his lips are yellow. He still bears an unfortunately resemblance to a tarbaby, though.

Downloading duckroll's level now -- I'll give it a try when I'm done with work.

My crappy levels can be found at http://www.toastyfrog.com/temp/mmpu/ -- 00 is a quickie made from vague memories of Castlevania's first stage, while 01 and 02 were designed based on actual reference material and are weirdly accurate, if not exactly creative.

Bebpo, have you tried playing through any of the stages as the bosses? Some of the robot showdowns are almost impossible even on normal difficulty.

Ok, it's sad that no one cares about this game. Hopefully interest picks up when it's out in the US. Anyway I beat the game with Rockman on Easy and unlocked Rockman C, which is Rockman with sliding and a charge shot. Unlocked all the bosses too.

Now I'm working on getting all the remaining Construction Packs hidden everywhere using Rockman C and all the boss characters. I'm also trying to complete all of Challenge Mode to unlock Blues. I've beaten about 20 of them so far... it's really hard. :(

Once I have all the Construction Packs I'll re-examine my map and tweak it with tons of improvements. Oh and the ending rocked. Classic Rockman ending. This game rocks! :D

Edit: It should be noted that while playing as the boss characters is FUN, it's really kinda useless in some ways because I find it literally IMPOSSIBLE to progress with them in terms of beating other bosses. With no tweaking done to the balance at all it's nothing more than an exercise in fustration. Hopefully I'm just missing something that will be explained to me but as far as I can tell the game is hard as nails but BALANCED as Rockman but as bosses it's hard as nails and UNBEATABLE. :(

Here's a link where you can download my Super Mario Bros. level...

http://www.strangereaction.com/imagehost/albums/userpics/10181/SMB_World_1-1.zip

And just in case anyone wants the game ruined for them, here are the reworked boss weaknesses for the game's New Style (and the Old Style for reference):

Old Style
=======
Cutman - Super Arm
Elecman - Rolling Cutter
Iceman - Thunder Beam
Fireman - Ice Slasher
Bombman - Fire Storm
Gutsman - Hyper Bomb

New Style
=======
Cutman - Super Arm
Bombman - Rolling Cutter
Iceman - Hyper Bomb
Fireman - Ice Slasher
Oilman - Fire Storm
Elecman - Oil Slider
Timeman - Thunder Beam
Gutsman - Time Slow

Any reason to import this rather than getting the US release ?

Are there annoying voiceovers just like Megaman X re-release on the PSP ?

just popping in to say that Rockman Rockman is hotter than the suns nuts.

Fantastic stuff.

Updated Schedule, looks like we're IN FOR A TREAT! :D

3/10 - Famicom-flavor Electroman Background Pack, Dengeki PS Stage
3/17 - Famicom-flavor Fireman Background Pack, March Roll-chan Costume: Rockman 8 Roll, Dengeki PS2 Stage
3/24 - Famicom-flavor Cutman Background Pack, Capcom Title CM Stage "Joe", Dengeki Online Stage
3/31 - Famicom-flavor Bombman Background Pack, Dengeki Maou Stage

:D :D

The game's U.S. servers are up, and there are already four special goodies to download:

Playable Roll
Old Elecman Stage Pack
Old Gutsman Stage Pack
Ultimate Oilman Stage

Man, oh man, is this game ever good.

I hope the call from Electronics Boutique comes in today telling me to go pick up this gem. My PSP and Capcom dpad have been waiting patiently.

Awesome. But I am going to be so cheesed if my save files from the review disc don't carry over to the retail version.

Woohoo! Got my import copy in today! Was a bit of a surprise as NCSX didn't mention restocking it yesterday. I'm totally digging Rockman Rollchan :D Capcom should make a serious spinoff like Peach :D Well not TOSE style like starfi or actual Peach, I just mean it like a good megaman platformer starring Rollchan. I only got Rockman Rockman for Rollchan! I can't wait to get her RM8 outfit on friday.

edit: duckroll sux. I managed to beat Fireman, Cutman and Timeman so far with Rollchan.

got the game today, I cleared cutman stage gutsman stage is hard as fuck. great game I love it.

Got this game today and it's really good. Playing on "new" mode and am noticing some differences to the stages. Gutsman seems especially stretched out. Like how you can beat the bosses with the mega buster (they really aren't hard, especially since I've been playing a lot of Mega Man original/X series lately) you can get them to use. Defeated 4 of the guys - Cutman, Elecman, Oil Man, Bomb Man. Gutsman's stage is still a pain in the ass, I hate those platforms... break was over as soon as I finally cleared them.

One thing I'm not happy about is Bombman's stage. The original was my favorite stage in that game, loved the blue skies with those big orange drumstick type things in the background... the new stage is this dark purple that I would barely recognize as Bombman's stage.

Voices are pretty annoying... especially the screechy "READY" when you start the stage. Then again MM games have never had good voice acting. It's funny hearing Mega Man plead with the enemy robots before battle though, he sounds so desperate.

OilMan is a bit on the goofy side... he does the little jig and his lips were recolored to yellow... voice actor sounds pretty much like a middle American white male though. Still surprised they left this in, wonder if there's gonna be any sort of backlash?

Have just barely started with the level editor... seems pretty strict and not very customizable as of now, maybe I just need to collect the item packs in the levels.

Can you unlock the original game in this... as in the original MM with 8 bit sprite graphics?

Another question - where is the platform creator... don't think I saw it in Elecman's stage this time around. Is it even in the game?

Only question is, I see something like - stages cleared 6/433 or so... does this mean the game expects me to beat every stage, at every difficulty level, with every boss character?

I'm on oilman's stage and there is a ladder I can't get to, too high to jump. can anyone help me?

My dumbass ordered the game, instead of picking it up in-store. Can't wait to get this in my hands, keep the impressions coming.

Yes. Good luck :)

ok just beat the game on easy, I tried normal but I was very hard so I decided to tackle easy first.

games looks great on the PSP. the cartoony look of the game totally fits and looks great IMO. the remixes are pretty good sure they sound a little too happy but I don't care they are still great. Timeman's stage music is awesome I love it. Playing as the different Robot Masters is great and all of them have unique abilities I only tried Cutman and he can bounce off walls.

the voices are decent and dialog is hilarious because it's soooo cheezy I like Iceman exchange with Megaman lol. I still haven't tried construction mode and I played old style elecman stage and it brought back so many memories :D. all in all the game rocks very fucking hard buy it! so capcoms remakes MM2 and MM3!

oh and the game comes with a free logitech playgear skin... pretty cool.

Thank god I'm over my obsessive/compulsive tendencies now. Do you get anything cool for clearing everything? Haven't been finding Normal mode too challenging, aside from the god damn platforms in Gutsman's stage!! ARGH! Just gotta beat that stage and then go fight Wily.

This is probably the second best PSP game if you ask me, right behind Lumines. Definitely worth picking up if you're a side scroller fan... Capcom is a godsend for PSP owners...

Heh, I've only been playing the main game enough to grab some of the construction packs. Most of time I spent in the level editor :O

Yeah, you definitely want to get some of the item packs. You can actually do quite a bit with the level editor once you get a few of them.

No.

The Magnet Beam? It's not in New Style mode. It's still in Old Style, of course.

And this has been answered already, but yes. You'll have to beat it with the secret characters like Roll, too.

I just beat hard mode. Doing so unlocks
Mega, the version of Mega Man from the intro before he gets his armor. He has no weapon, so his only attack is a kick. Mega Man Soccer reference ahoy! And yes, to get 100%, you need to beat the game on all three difficulties as Mega, too
.

I downloaded Roll and she doesn't appear to be playable, did I did something wrong?

btw Phil I tried your stage. pretty cool :D

Roll worked fine for me when I downloaded her. She just appeared on the character select screen below the bosses. Did you scroll down to the bottom of the list?

Thanks for the stage compliment. It obviously wasn't anything too complicated...I was just messing around and testing out the editor.

I found a great stage that a Japanese player made called Oil de Paradise. It's basically a slalom course for Oilman's weapon. Its ID is 12676405-001. Check it out.

And I have it on good authority that tomorrow night (well, tonight I suppose...it's technically Thursday now) Capcom is going to post an official GameSpy level to download. I also hear that it's a much more involved level than my Super Mario one.

I made that one, too.

Thanks for keeping the thread alive! Sales may be slow but Capcom needs to know that those of us that did buy it LOVE it! :D

An official Gamespy stage? Sounds like the official Dengeki and Shounen Sunday stages coming out in Japan every week now. If it's anything like those, it should be pretty interesting and have the Gamespy logo advertised around the stage. ^_^

Edit: Tomorrow = Rockman 8 Roll-chan costume for Japan! Any news for US?

I, uh, have it on good authority that there'll be a Newtype stage too.

Not sure when it'll be available, though.

Wow that's really a great stage. Thanks for the head's up. There's also a Blues/Protoman stage up now on the Japanese servers. For those that have not beat all 100 Challenge Mode stages yet and still wanna try Blues out as a playable character, it's pretty good. :D

Japanese levels work on the american version of the game and vice versa, right? Just checking.

All the praise makes me want this game even more.

This is GOTY so far. I was a bit put off by the demo that came with Maverick Hunter X, and while the full game still has some aesthetic choices that rub me the wrong way*, there is so much game on this disc that it more than makes up for it. I've been praying that someone would release a really challenging 2D platformer and hey! Here it is! And I can make levels so hard that I die the second I spawn. AWESOME.

This level is brilliant! I'm in love! I need more like this! I need lots of crazy platforming and one hit kill levels! And I need someone else to make them for me because I'm lazy. More level suggestions, please!

*I'm not talking about the big headed stuff. I absolutely love that. But I think some of the remixes are overly cheery and kinda crap compared to the originals. Elecman and Cutman come to mind. Also some of the level art is pretty bland. Again, Cutman. Definitely the low point of the game! Though it was a pretty ugly stage in the original, too. And the voice samples are awfully irritating, but I'm learning to block them out. I was considering getting the import if it had no/better voices (and for the uncensored Oilman!) but, again, I'm lazy so I just got the domestic.

the voices are decent, is the dialogue that I find hilarious it's sooo cheezy and bad that it's actually funny.

edit: oh man that oilman level is gold

Yeah, the dialogue is pretty great. "Bomb Man, that's really dangerous! Stop setting off bombs!" I'd much rather have silly voice acting than serious voice acting in a game like this, to be honest. Better to laugh than groan. It's just the samples that play nearly everytime you shoot or jump that are the problem. I like them on the bosses, though - one of them says what kinda sounds like "FART!" when he gets hit. Love that.

Yeah, that Oilman stage floored me when I was playing through it. So much fun. Do you happen to have the ID for the Blues stage?

Okay, my first stage is up! Stage name is Guts Gauntlet and the ID is 59667943-001. I'm going to upload it for non-wifi users too.

I hate hate hate oilman's weapon >:| trying to hit
elecman
with it can be a major pain in the ass.
