Official Thread of TIGER WOODS 10 for the Wii (Motionplus)

The girlfriend and I are loving party mode.

of course the first thing i did was play now because i wanted to check out motion plus. holy shit is it a lot different. i really suck at this, but i'm having fun doing it. the last tiger woods game i played was 03 on xbox 1 so i have no idea really what to do, but whatever. looking forward to spending more time with this tomorrow.

Managed one above par in my second round. After some time, it definitely gets easier to handle the hooks and slices, though I still don't by any means have them under control. Putting isn't as bad as I thought at first. It's just all about aiming and drawing the club back a certain amount. Sort of hurts the realism, but putting otherwise would probably be impossible.

This game is an absolute blast. I definitely celebrate a little too much when I do something good. Hitting the flag stick on a long chip--yeah, that one ended in a fist pump...

This was huge today at GameStop. I wasn't surprised, but it's unusual for the Wii SKU to outsell the other consoles tenfold. I think I saw literally one or two PS3/360 versions sold all day.

I still haven't cracked open the bundle I bought tonight, but I'm pumped about it.

So what did you notice different on advanced? Was it more fun?

Went straight to advanced. They have putt preview disabled, don't allow you to magically change spin mid-air (which is ridiculous) - more "sim" I guess.

I loved it. But I never like those sports game "gimmicks" (like guess pitch in MLB The Show, etc.).

I picked it up at GameSpot (Wii) today since Wal-mart didn't have lego battles, motion+, DSi, OR Tiger Woods 10. GameSpot didn't want to sell me one since they thought they were preorder only, but they finally did. XD

I'll have to try it out. Hope the motion+ is good! Is advanced basically the best way to go if you want "realistic" response?

There's a GameSpot store? Where??!?!?!?!?!

Everyone does this

This game is awesome. Disc golf is incredibly fun. Just played 9 holes against my dad; we turned on mulligans just so we could practice. My dad threw one wide left, about 40% power so he took a mulligan. On his second throw he threw a 75 yard laser right into the chains for an eagle.

We were passing off the Wii Remote to use the MotionPlus, but he says that won't do. He is too impatient to wait for Wii Sports Resort, but hopefully I will talk him out of buying another unit!

It begins...

You'll have an extra in case somebody else wants to play. :P

This game is amazing, and Wii MotionPlus is amazing.

It can't be stated enough HOW MUCH of a difference the MotionPlus makes.

Phenomenal. I'm utterly fucking blown away and speechless at how fun this is.

So are people just getting tons of eagles? Last TW I played I remember that sometimes the ball was just a homing missile. Like if you got it in the area of the cup half the time it would go in. Is one of the options like a "real physics" option?

On the easiest game settings with advanced control I can get a birdie or two with enough mulligans, but mostly par. :/

At least now I can say it's my shitty swing and not the stupid game struggling to accept my input, and that makes all the difference.

yes there is an advance mode. Everyone with M+ should have it on from the start.

Does anyone have any precision putting tips for me? That's where my game is collapsing right now, I am all over the place with the putter, mostly radically underhitting or overhitting shots. I'm just having a really hard time with gauging the correct putter strength... is the power bar supposed to help? I'm not sure I know how to read it correctly.

I know it's only $20, but I feel like if we can just get away with having one for a little over a month, we get it for cheaper.

I guess that's what I'll use. I'm no golfer but there's nothing like the feeling of a well-earned rare eagle.

dont look at th bar focus on your swing soon you will get to know how hard you hit just by your swing.

Yet another way you can be like Tiger!

There is an option that I think addresses that issue, called hole assist or something... Don't recall that from previous versions.

Driving seems too easy, almost difficult to really shank it or hook it out of play. But nothing worth complaining about. Putting and chipping is great. Really good game. Glad you can still alter the loft of your club head before swinging.

If it's anything like real putting, you just have to go by feel - meaning practice a lot and learn how far the ball goes with different speeds/backswing distance.

Very pleased with the game and the implementation of Motion Plus. One thing I don't understand, though, is why the music in this game is so awesome. Why does a Tiger Woods game have all these sick jazz techno beats? I'm not even playing the game, I'm just sitting here in the options screen listening to the music. It makes no sense, but it's pretty cool I guess. Not only is it a great golf game, but next time I have a girl over and want to set the mood with some music I can just turn on Tiger Woods.

are you looking at the percentages and the notches on the power meter as you take it back? Practice swinging?

Played my first game online with TW10 against a friend of mine. Fucker got a hole in one on the second hole and I double bogeyed it. I never recovered..... :lol

I've played every golf game since Leaderboard back on the C64.

Tiger Woods was by far the easiest for a while... eventually they added "tour difficulty", which made things a bit tougher. I'd still be able to get -5 to -10 under even with that on (unlike the ridiculous -20 I'd get on earlier iterations)

In TW10 with WM+, with all realism options on, I've never played worse in a golf game. And it's all due to my swing... not the game. This is the -best- golf game ever made. I am consistently getting about 6-10 over par on the past 36 holes (that's 6-10 over par total for 18 holes, not each hole hah). I'm hitting water and sand traps all the time. I never hit those things in video game golf.

I love this game.

And like I said in my previous post, if you play with full realism, it really helps to keep your head down looking at the floor where the ball is supposed to be while swinging, and only look at the screen once you connect with the ball.

If I was Tiger Woods, I would do random fist pumps walking down the street just because I was Tiger Woods. Seriously. Wouldn't you? Because let's face, it would just be that awesome being Tiger Woods.

This game is really really really good. Just finished playing around and have yet to go online

I did notice there is more people online with this than GST (~70 for TW and 40 for GST) so that is great for online play potential

I love how the game feels so natural, I have not enjoyed a Golf game in a long time but this one puts a smile on my face.

This "IS" Golf, Not simulation. The only way it would be more real is if you were on the course yourself.

Amazing work EA (wow, been a while since I have said that) and M+ is fantastic.

It took me a long time to figure out that I had to move the aiming circle when I was doing the tutorials with advanced controls on. :P

Also, is it just me, or is it -way- easier and more comfortable to do everything one-handed? It's not realistic, but sinking a putt with classic style was easy with one hand. :D

*edit* Frisbee golf is fun. Oh, and I actually think the graphics are rather nice and the environmental noise and music is soothing, but I have a crappy TV, so eh.

I often feel like the game is auto-aiming for me a bit, but I suppose that's part of sports games in general.

Impressions are going to convince me to pick this up. Sounds like a blast and for someone like me it'll probably the only golf game i'll ever need.

I might be missing something, but what exactly is the point of playing online? It seems like for a turn-based, score-based game, leaderboards would be pretty much the same thing. Maybe with voice chat I could see some point, but this doesn't support Wii Speak, does it?

Well I mean if you'd be playing someone live then you might be apt to take different approaches to how you play if you are up or down "x" amount of strokes.

Yeah I'm looking at the meter but I'm not sure how to correlate that with the real power/distance I'm going to get. I'm so used to the old gamepad system of just looking at the distance and making your putt a percentage based on that, this is much trickier.

Are there practice greens? I think half the problem is that I'm trying to learn this new system on greens with wicked breaks and slopes. I think I need some nice gentle greens to get a feel for power and control and then I'll be ready to start factoring in gradients.

This game is simply amazing with motionplus. I was playing with my friend who's a golfer and while I started off knocking the ball every which way he was doing quite well from his first swing. He recommended I lift my right foot like the guy on the screen, so when I did that I was only having random fades and trouble getting above 85% power. So then he recommended I follw through my swing like he was and voila, 95%+ swings and little draw or fade.

Putting was some trouble until we figured out the precision meter seems to almost lock the power for the forward swing unless you swing too hard or soft. Then we just had the typical problems of how much left/right and power. Though 1.5 putts per hole doesn't seem too bad (it was less than half our first game).

It also gives a major sense of achievement to improve a game from +12 to +3. I don't think I've ever been as happy to get a +3 as I was getting it on Pebble Beach with black tees, medium pin difficulty, and using my 268yd max driving character, even though it's not terribly impressive. So now I need to build up my character, work on the finer points of my game, and learn to make better decisions (I learned the hard way that the stupid AI caddy doesn't always recommend the best club). Which is awesome :D.

As for the easy eagle issues, I've gotten 1 in 54 holes. Though I almost had 2 or 3 others.

My only real problem is 3 rounds burned my shoulder out like nothing since Wii Sports, so I really want to play more but can't.

There is an option to turn hole assist off. Hole assist does cause the eagles and stuff. I havent decided how i feel about them yet, so it stays on for now.

Reading this thread helps me realize just how much I suck at this game. Eagles? Goddam.

I'm okay at driving, but approaches leave me almost always in bunkers. Putting is giving me some trouble. You need full swings in regular golf mode, but trying to emulate a "real" swing in putting seems to elicit 100% power shots more then not, and leaves you overshooting your shot. I'm still messing around with it, though, hopefully I'll figure it out.

With that said, it's such a great feeling to have the Wii finally deliver on the promise the brought so many out launch day nearly 3 years ago. 1:1 is here, it'll kill your arms, wrists, and shoulders, and it's fun as hell.

One-handed, man! Just flip that arm and watch the putts sail in! :P

I say "no" to your classic-style putting! I refuse to go to last-year's swing mechanic, I'm going to be stubborn and stick with "precision putting" until I figure it out.

I did one-handed swings with precision putting. I almost feel like if I did one-handed drives, I'd get more power AND control.
