Blizzard said:I picked it up at GameSpot (Wii) today since Wal-mart didn't have lego battles, motion+, DSi, OR Tiger Woods 10. GameSpot didn't want to sell me one since they thought they were preorder only, but they finally did. XD
I'll have to try it out. Hope the motion+ is good! Is advanced basically the best way to go if you want "realistic" response?
It begins...Jon said:We were passing off the Wii Remote to use the MotionPlus, but he says that won't do. He is too impatient to wait for Wii Sports Resort, but hopefully I will talk him out of buying another unit!

On the easiest game settings with advanced control I can get a birdie or two with enough mulligans, but mostly par. :/AstroLad said:So are people just getting tons of eagles? Last TW I played I remember that sometimes the ball was just a homing missile. Like if you got it in the area of the cup half the time it would go in. Is one of the options like a "real physics" option?

I guess that's what I'll use. I'm no golfer but there's nothing like the feeling of a well-earned rare eagle.sprocket said:yes there is an advance mode. Everyone with M+ should have it on from the start.
Gary Whitta said:Does anyone have any precision putting tips for me? That's where my game is collapsing right now, I am all over the place with the putter, mostly radically underhitting or overhitting shots. I'm just having a really hard time with gauging the correct putter strength... is the power bar supposed to help? I'm not sure I know how to read it correctly.

You being cheap vs. Your dad wanting to play.Jon said:I know it's only $20, but I feel like if we can just get away with having one for a little over a month, we get it for cheaper.
If it's anything like real putting, you just have to go by feel - meaning practice a lot and learn how far the ball goes with different speeds/backswing distance.Gary Whitta said:Does anyone have any precision putting tips for me? KevinCow said:I might be missing something, but what exactly is the point of playing online? It seems like for a turn-based, score-based game, leaderboards would be pretty much the same thing. Maybe with voice chat I could see some point, but this doesn't support Wii Speak, does it?

Yeah I'm looking at the meter but I'm not sure how to correlate that with the real power/distance I'm going to get. I'm so used to the old gamepad system of just looking at the distance and making your putt a percentage based on that, this is much trickier.levious said:are you looking at the percentages and the notches on the power meter as you take it back? Practice swinging?
levious said:There is an option that I think addresses that issue, called hole assist or something... Don't recall that from previous versions.
Driving seems too easy, almost difficult to really shank it or hook it out of play. But nothing worth complaining about. Putting and chipping is great. Really good game. Glad you can still alter the loft of your club head before swinging.
One-handed, man! Just flip that arm and watch the putts sail in!pakkit said:Reading this thread helps me realize just how much I suck at this game. Eagles? Goddam.
I'm okay at driving, but approaches leave me almost always in bunkers. Putting is giving me some trouble. You need full swings in regular golf mode, but trying to emulate a "real" swing in putting seems to elicit 100% power shots more then not, and leaves you overshooting your shot. I'm still messing around with it, though, hopefully I'll figure it out.
With that said, it's such a great feeling to have the Wii finally deliver on the promise the brought so many out launch day nearly 3 years ago. 1:1 is here, it'll kill your arms, wrists, and shoulders, and it's fun as hell.
I say "no" to your classic-style putting! I refuse to go to last-year's swing mechanic, I'm going to be stubborn and stick with "precision putting" until I figure it out.Blizzard said:One-handed, man! Just flip that arm and watch the putts sail in!![]()
