Official Thread of TIGER WOODS 10 for the Wii (Motionplus)

And the scary thing is, there's plenty of room for improvement if EA ever wants to add more realistic swing options in the future. :lol
No kidding. :lol

WM+ controls are almost too picky at times though. :lol

Also adjusting the loft of the irons before taking the shot helps with the spin, but you have to compensate a little bit with more distance.

You pretty much need to club up two clubs to compensate for any change to the loft meter. And you really need to build up your spin and accuracy to get good backspin with your irons.

If you're a lefty I recommend using the 'hold B and press left and right on the dpad' method of changing the loft, rather than the pointer method. They forgot to fix the position of the slider over the ball icon on the left of the screen. The slider is still based on where the icon is for a righty, so as soon as you press B it jumps all the way to the highest loft. :/

We always get screwed somehow.

I think that's part of the reason EA opted not to go with giving super-realistic options right-away - most players would end up chunking/topping/skulling/skying/shanking shots everywhere, on top of all the slices and hooks. It would still be nice to have the options for all that though. :lol

It would also mean we'd see pulled and pushed shots - in this game, there's only straight and some degree of curve. Accommodating pushes and pulls would also give more options with curving the ball. For example, there's no real way to hit a nice draw that starts going slightly right (but straight right, not a fade/slice) before coming back towards the left without deliberately aiming to the right of your target and then hitting your draw. In the earlier example, if you accidentally hit it straight you're fine. In the latter example, if you hit accidentally it straight you may end in the rough or worse.

It would be nice to have that kind of control. TW10 is just a bit hard for me. I play golf quite a bit in real life and it's hard keeping my wrists where I want. It's a lot different without the weight of an actual club to smooth the motion with. Plus my feet slip all over the damn carpet. :lol I'm sure it's something I'll get used to though.

Yeah, it took some time for me to get adjusted mainly because I was trying to find a variation of my golf grip that was comfortable around the remote. In my real golf swing I'm fighting a bit of a hook right now, and it's translating to the game as well. :lol

But just like in my real swing, I can "feel" the impact point during the downswing and know instantly whether I hooked it or sliced it without having to see what happened onscreen. Yay M+!

My shoulder is hurting me! I must've played about 5 hours in a row with Tiger / Wii Bowling / Grand Slam Tennis and Disc Golf. I've found that Motion Plus seems to work better with Tiger compared to Grand Slam Tennis.

My should hurt like hell after the first day. I played about 8 hours total that day. :lol I've been playing everyday and my shoulder stopped hurting about a day later.

do you guys hold the remote with one or two hands? when I use one hand I always hit it straight and at 100, but when I use two hands I only hit it 80 or so. am I doing something wrong or is it normal?

My feeling is that you can probably do better, more easily, with less effort and less pain, with one hand. It's not very realistic though, so you might want to switch to two hands. Precision putting seemed especially easy with one hand, though I didn't try tournaments or curved greens. :p

I hold it with both hands. It's all about the position of the remote on your swing. I don't swing hard at all and I'm able to get 100% consistently.

So this is better than the 360 version right? Is it realistic (for golfers)
Yes and yes.

Jeez, anyone else having trouble with taking full swings only for it to turn into a practice shot? What the hell am I doing wrong? Is there a particular moment when you have to release B? I mean, I played a full nine holes, but probably ended up taking enough swings for 72. :lol

You don't release B until after you do your swing and the ball is in the air.

Also, you might be accidentally tapping the A button as you swing. I've done that a few times.

Just picked this up a couple days ago. Talk about adjustment, I've really had to adjust my swings with the greatly increased accuracy.. >>

Otherwise I'm having lots of fun. Best golf game I've played on the Wii since the Wii Sports one! Well worth the purchase. ^_^

Plus I know a dude who worked on the game, he did a couple of the courses.

Both hands. I'm sure it'll be easier using just one hand.

:lol the plan is to play at least 9 holes a day and get my created Player in GST ready for online.

Got to play for about 10 minutes before my batteries died (can't figure out how to do anything but a quick recharge on my battery recharger :lol ).

Is it just me or does this feel exactly how TW07 on the Wii did when using Motion Plus? I remember having to rotate my wrists left in that one or I would constantly slice and it's the same with Motion Plus.

Just remove the Motion+ while playing, and see how different it is. It is nowhere near the same experience, IMO.

This is actually what I'm worried about. It seems like this is the first TW for most people in this thread. To the guys who played last year's, is there REALLY a big difference in control? Sounds like it mostly just controls power, right?

I did some lvl 2 club buying and tuning. 4% in career.

I am trying to get Irons that I can stick with spin. I turned spin to max
Practicing on 17th @ TBC Sawgrass I hit full under shot and back spin but when I just land on the front of green it still skips all the way to the back of the green. Maybe adding loft will ease forward momentum on landing?
I'll try using Tiger to see what spin control he can do.

Did it and I can almost keep a 4 Iron with lift @ 50% power out of the water. With the higher I can really see the spin arrows speed up as opposed to my guys crawling arrow. And with the wedges I think the ball is nearly falling straight down into the hole 100yds away.

Spin is a good nudge but I think loft is what you really need to get the landings. Its not like in Mario Golf where you could put a fire spin on a ball.

Oh I'm sure it's different, but I noticed in 08 that I didn't have to twist my wrist anymore, nor do I when not using Motion Plus in 10. If 07 was closer to what they were looking for with Motion Plus, I can't figure out why they changed the controls in 08 and 09 :lol

The older game is not nearly as accurate in how it detects the clubface rotating. With M+, a few degrees off can mean the difference between a nice draw and a bad hook.

Precision putting is where M+ really shines in this one.

Went to get this today but it isn't out in the UK for two weeks :(

The Tennis game is but sack that I'll nab this and WSR so get my two Motion+ kits.

I've played TW08. Putting alone is night and day.

I tried (and almost immediately got rid of) '07, '08, and '09. Not even in the same ballpark.

Playing this game with commentary off, music on (which for whatever reason is a separate check box in the main options) and fx at about 60% is just bliss.

The commentary kind of sucks in this game, but I don't want to nix it because I listen to their commentary on the hole fly-by's so I can approach the shot without having to study it like a madman. It's the worse when they just say some shit that didn't happen, for example they generally give terrible putting advice. :lol

Yesterday: Frustrated, wanted to break something.
Today: Holy shit it clicked with me. This game is the shit.

And FUCK my shoulders are sore :lol Between that and restarting my daily pull-up routine i needed some Icy-Hot today :lol

Okay, I had the PS3 version all week sitting there, still wrapped up, tempting me. I ended up returning it and getting the PSP version. It's actually really good. Before you all throw a hissy fit.. I'm going to be getting the Wii version tomorrow. The only reason I didn't tonight is because they were out. :D

:lol @ everyone who is sore.

I haven't purchased a golf game since Tiger '05 XB, and I only put a casual amount of time into HSG5. My god, this is a glorious return to the genre for me. And freakin' twenty-seven courses?! I'm tearing up here.

When I try for full power with default clubs, my swing just says "screw you" and sends the ball flying to god-knows-where. I'm pretty comfortable hitting at around 80% for the time being.

Disc golf is hilarious. I'd feel like an asshole if I actually did this on a real-life golf course. Coincidentally, this might be our new drinking game.

Edit: Oddly enough, my shoulder has been killing me the last couple of days. I think I slept on it wrong or something. But, since playing Tiger, it's back to normal. :lol

First GAFer vs. GAFer match just happened. I beat johnny_park 71-65. :D It was nice playing someone at my skill level as opposed to the dickface I played last night that shot a 52. :\

I've played the other Wii Tiger games... This is just so much better. Night and day.

All these positive impressions have swayed me to buy the game later today. After being completely underwhelmed by the TW10 demo on the 360, I realized it really is time for a change. My impressions tomorrow. =]

Today's daily tourney is cruel. Bethpage Black and no putt meter.

I accidentally posted my -2, oops. I was going to try again :P Too bad they let you retry the daily tourneys. It would be more realistic if you only got one opportunity and couldn't feel like you could play a whole 'notha round. I kept restarting until I got a birdie on the first hole

Yeah, once you start you should be comitted but oh well.
I was surprised to see the leader only had a -8 when I started which is amusing given the last few days I'd seen -16 to -20.

I may be an idiot but can someone please explain precision putting to me.

That took me forever to get down and I'm by no means a golfer. Although its not much of an explanation, I found better success by both not looking at the screen as it was distracting and using far more back swing than front, stopping the putter at the near neutral starting position. Anything else I did led to many embarassing observations by the commentators.

I'm pretty awesome at putting and drives but terrible at the shots from the green. I seem to always overshoot or undershoot the hole.

Just got the game today and you guys are right about it being wonderful.

Mid game is hard with a career character.

Need to add loft and spin which isn't really a problem unless it is windy and you are using a L wedge.

Sometimes you need to take the longer club by 30+ yards and take it full under to drop it in a area if it is a really tight spot to land.
